Nunchuk glitch.

Sorry if the following is very hard to understand; it's difficult to explain.

Okay, so sometimes when I'm playing a Wii game that requires the Nunchuk (I'm sorry I think that's how you spell it), and I leave it for a while, the Nunchuk can be continuously working; meaning when I come back to it, the Nunchuk will be in it's normal straight position, but whatever it's controlling on the screen will be moving... if the Nunchuk makes a character run, I will sometimes find that they are running continuously (usually to the bottom left) without any Nunchuk input. If the Nunchuk is controlling options on a menu, I will find it is scrolling down at top speed without any input. It's as though it's gotten stuck in a certain position, but when you look at it, it's normal. I have tried (for example, with a Sims game) moving the Nunchuk control stick in the opposite direction and my character will move in that direction for as long as I hold it, but then when I let go they go back to running the other way. This happens sometimes in all my games, so I know it can't be glitch on just one game... it has to be related to the actual remotes. It can usually be fixed by unplugging the Nunchuk then plugging it back into the Wii remote.

Any ideas on what this is or advice?

What he said. This has been the case with all consoles that have had analogue controllers since the N64. Just take it out and put it back in.

I have no problems using the Nunchuck. I only use it in every games that requires both the Wii and Nunchuck controllers. (e.g. Super Mario Galaxy 2)

The first time this happened to me I just switched Nunchuks as my first reflex... luckily, it worked. Turns out you just need to unplug it and then plug it back in again. But it is a WTF moment when that happens. It's just a glitch with the way you plug the Nunchuk in or something.

Don't worry about it, it happens to most Wii owners at some point.
