I think Nintendo will try something new for Yoshi, but all the fans will cry it's "too far from the original game."

Hm? Oh, "far from the original" isn't bad, it's just showing that gamers are never satisfied. If they try something new it's "too far from the original" and if they don't change anything "it's not different enough." Like Mario Sunshine. Great game, but a lot of fans cried foul because it was "too different."

The reason why New Super Mario Bros Wii was so similar to the last New Mario Bros is because Ninteno has learned something important: Baby Steps.

They probably had several plans for the game, but cut them, because multiplayer was already a huge change. If they make another, we can expect to see more changes.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 will probably show more signs of this; we'll see some huge new changes, but otherwise the gameplay will remain very similar to the original.

Yoshi's Island DS added Stalk Stops to add a new puzzle element to the game, which has become a standard with Nintendo platformers (Star Coins are the perfect example of this, they're an addition that gives the game the ability to have a % complete, yet they don't do much, other than give a sense of satisfaction/unlock awesome movies). One could argue that adding Flowers and Red Coins to the original Yoshi's Island was the father of the idea.

Anyway, I think they already have a Yoshi's Island Wii game in production. Nintendo no longer announces titles until they're almost finished, to avoid vaporware and set-backs to the release dates.

I love Galaxy. The variety was just right. Just when you're getting bored (a little of course ), they throw a few suit or water levels at ya before going back. Marvelous.

Sounds like a rip-off of the first half hour of FF1.
