The Thousand Year Door truly was brilliant.

Unlike Paper Mario's chapters, TTYD made it so that each one would actually contribute to the overall plot, albeit slightly, in some cases.

The tweaks to the battle system (mostly the idea of falling props and an interactive audience) made the battles all the more fun.

...I still only used the Goomba partner in both games.

My favorite part about the Mario RPGs is that they have a good story. Not in epic RPG fashion, but more comical writing and whimsical characters, which I really enjoyed. PM2 (since tTYD is too long to type ) had the best story. I love those games soooooo much.

Biggest flaw with PM2: the final boss.



Hardest thing I've ever done, harder than Mega Man and me trying to play FF Tactics (though that's funnier than anything else ). Though if I play through a a massive 30+ hour RPG three times without feeling it's a chore, you know it's good.

Soma Bringer's a pretty good game, but I personally haven't spent a lot of time with it. I've also heard both good and bad things about Sigma Harmonics, but hey it's cheap.

Shadow Queen was so hard. I bought the game at launch, made it to her, tried upwards of 20 times, then gave up (partially due to lack of skip scene). Two weeks later, I start a new file focusing on a more balanced character (my first file had huge HP and little else). Made it to shadow queen, tried another 15 times, gave up. 2008, I decide that this is the time I will beat her. So I go, start a new file after reading advice from the net to focus on FP and BP. I make it to Keehaul Key, then load my original file of the game for one last shot. I lower her to under 20 HP, all my partners are dead and Mario's in the low health (under 10). Looks like I'm going to die. Then a miracle happens: I get triple Shine Sprites on the roulette. I won.

Heh, funny story about my version of the Final Boss battle: Due to a funny coincidence, exactly five turns after the long 'pray' cut scene, I'd get triple Shine Sprites as long as I hit the A button at the right moment... I always hit the A button at the right moment, every time (I fought her about ten times).

I could Super Guard every attack in the game (except specific boss attacks which are immune to it), you just have to get the rhythm, the timing is actually the same as the original's regular guard (which, at first, was difficult to time, then towards the end of the chapter, it became natural).

The Zap Tap badge made me immune to all fuzzies, as well.

Or he's just, you know, playing it with his hands unlike he says he is.
