Wii Not Reading Disks...

Well, a few days ago, when I got up to play my Wii, I tried putting in a game disk, and I got the error message that said "the disk could not be read." I thought nothing of it and tried again. Same message. I checked for scratches and the such on the disk, but there were none. So I tried with a few of my other disks and kept getting the same message.

So obviously, it is a problem with the Wii. I called Nintendo about it, and they just told me that it was a problem with the Wii, out of warranty, and it would cost 85 bucks to fix, if I sent it to them.

So, before I send it off to Nintendo, do any of you guys have any idea of how to fix it? Everything else works fine, the channels, the virtual console games, etc.


And while we are at it, another question: What will happen to my saved data on my Wii if I send it to Nintendo for repairs? And my Virtual Console and WiiWare games and memory?

weird seems a deja vu, well i had the same problem, let star withe basic questions:

a) your wii is modded? ergo it came with a chip so it can read illegal copies?.

b) you let your wii in a dusty place?

c) from when its the date of your wii?

d) have you ever tried using homebrew aps?

e) has this happened before to you?.

I seem to be experiencing a similar problem, only it involves the black screen that reads, "Memory in the Wii System is Corrupted. Please Try Again.", and all I have to do is reset the system and everything continues functioning as normal, but it still concerns me, the risk is still there.

now it sound fishy you now if your wii is modded or you have any homebrew apllication or even, gecko?

Well, it fell off of it's stand over three months ago, and I do believe there was a power outage last December while I was playing Animal Crossing.

my suggestion go to your official nintendo site, go and tell them about your problem, but... 1st get yourself about a 4g micro Sd card with is adapter and send all your files of the wii to your memcard not sure if brawl and tenckaichi 3 will rest with your online records.

i meant of which year , or for being more specific onto which year you bougth it.

hmmm, this does sounds weird i purchased mine about the same date as you i had to replace my wii chip, still i recomend going to your nintendo store or at least to a shop that official and at least that they give a look to your wii.
