I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. RE5 is just RE4 on steroids and Capcom already has the RE4 engine working on the Wii. Not to mention that they don't mind porting 360 games to the Wii as evidenced by Dead Rising (okay it's not technically a port according to Capcom, but whatever).

Also, Capcom's response to Sega saying that is priceless:

Dead Rising is literally a re-skin of the RE4 Wii engine. Doing the same to RE5 would be entirely possible. Personally, I would prefer a Wii exclusive RE on the RE4 engine, designed for Wii specifically, instead of a port.

There is yet to be a Wii port of a 360/PS3 game that isn't majorly edited and downgraded so it can fit on the Wii. Sure, it can be done, but it would barely be the same game. (Alone in the Dark's Wii port is an example of this, and Dead Rising's port will undoubtedly result similarly).
I don't see why the Wii keeps getting these crappy downgraded ports anyway (okay, it's because of money). Just make a new RE game from scratch so that Wii owners can get a good third-party game for once, and not some rehashed edited version of a game from another console.

Indeed, although I'm keeping a hopeful outlook on the Dead Rising Wii game. From how I understand, they are basically building a new game around the Dead Rising story. Since the new game is built on an already established engine, I think it can be done justice. It wouldn't be like the 360 version, but the thing is, if I wanted to play the 360 version, I would play it on 360.

I wouldn't put it past Capcom to try bringing RE5 to the Wii, especially if Dead Rising Wii does well. RE4: Wii sold over a million worldwide, and RE0 remake is around 30k (which, quite frankly, is surprising) in Japan.

Didn't Umbrella Chronicles sell in the millions as well? There is certainly a RE following on Wii.

I haven't bought any of the REWii games, partially cause I've only really bought two Wii games.

I don't count Wii Play as a game, more as a blemish.

It is possible for Capcom to give Wii owners Resident Evil 5. There are just enough Wii owners who would buy the game so why not? Nintendo needs to start proving that the Wii can be casual AND hardcore. We are getting closer and closer to that goal with Fatal Frame and The Conduit. I think Resident Evil should be added to the list ^^
