Speaking of GTAIV it has really suprised me with the scores it is getting I really want to try it out when I can.

It is just a different game, with a different style, one that you aren't used to yet. Everyone has played Melee for years now, and the mechanics are second nature, so switching to Brawl is naturally a little strange. However, saying Brawl has lost its competitiveness is just not true. I would wager that with practice, you would become just as proficient in Brawl as you are in Melee, if not more so do to the smoother, more refined gameplay it offers.

I also want to mention, if Brawl had come out back when Melee did, and Melee was the sequel, everyone would be saying the exact same things about Melee's competitive game. Its all a matter of what your used to playing.
