Looking for a good Wii RPG- Any advice?

The short request here is this- I'm trying to figure out a nice RPG for the Wii to buy. I know it'll be some months before we get TOS, so... yeah. I've tried Opoona and DQ Swords, but I'm a little undecided on those two. I've been hearing mixed things about Baroque- some say its awesome, others say its horrible. Any suggestions? I guess I'm listening to VC, Gamecube, and Wii titles. (Gotta love the plethora of options when it comes to the Wii. ^^)

I have a couple games with RPG elements and I love most of them, but I don't own a single traditional RPG. I have a bunch of GC RPGs, Super Paper Mario, Godfather: Blackhand Edition, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and a few others that are also action titles with RPG-esque features.
It seems I've been so distracted by fighting and AAA Nintendo titles that I've forgotten about one of my favorite genres. Heh...

I don't like going by reviews- my tastes aren't the same as theirs after all. I think its better to hear a range of opinions from fellow gamers.
I've heard a lot of great things about the two Fire Emblem games- though they seem to be more turn-based strategy than RPG. Or maybe I could get Paper Mario 64... I liked Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door a lot. Regardless, I don't want to put my money into a game that won't deliver- of course. Heh...

I have Baroque, now I cant completely reccomend it (even though I like it) simply because its not a bad game, but because its not for everyone. Thats why it gets mixed reviews. The plot is fantastic, the gameplay is fun but shallow, and everytime you die or reach the end of the tower, you revert to lvl 1 with no items (unless you stored some) until you go through the tower enough times to flesh out the full story. As you can see its a very strange but unique approach that would turn off most casual rpg fans but make the more hardcore flock to, due to its uniqueness and tough difficulty.

I wouldnt say that I like all games, but Iam not very picky, I admit that. Still I did say this game was not for everyone.

If you hate roguelikes, then don't pick up Baroque. On the flip side, if you do like roguelikes, get Baroque.

Seeming as you already said you've played Opoona, there aren't any RPGs left available right now.

You need to get Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. It sounds like you haven't played either, but if you can, get both Path of Radiance before because playing both in the correct order makes the experience much more complete.

Fire Emblem might not be your regular RPG with things like walking through towns, random battles, etc... but it is still very good and has other similar aspects to RPGs. First of all, it has an amazing story filled with intrigue, betrayal, and death told through many well-developed characters. Of course it also has leveling up, and class changes, weapon customization, and tons of skills. Also, both games will easily keep you entertained for 50-60 hours a piece leading up to their respective conclusions. On top of that, sport multiple difficulties and secrets that can only be unlocked through multiple play throughs. Fire Emblem is one of the best games on Wii and is not to be missed!

Oh, and there are a few RPGs available on the VC. The ones that come to mind are:

Breath of Fire II (SNES)
Phantasy Star II (GEN)
Paper Mario (N64)
Shining in the Darkness (GEN)

Fire Emblem is a good strategy, but it is not a pure RPG like the ones above. Another game on the VC that falls into this genre is Shining Force (GEN).

Just buy a DS. It has way more RPG's than any other system at the moment.
