Double layered disc?

	Log in to remove this sponsored message I'm thinking of importing Brawl from the US with a freeloader so I can play on my PAL console (because Nintendo are just bleeping around with us, but that's a different matter). So anyway, I've heard that SSBB uses a dual layer disc, which won't work on a small number of consoles. I'm worried because my console is a launch console, so I'm thinking that I might have one of those consoles. Is there any way that I can check to see if I have a console which won't work with dual layered discs (i.e. serial numbers)?

	Cool, glad to get a second opinion. My friend has imported Brawl and it works, just wondering if it was a lucky break. Definitely going to buy it now, thanks

	I read this in an article in the technical issues section this information sounds reliable. quote With the release of dual-layer Wii Optical Discs, Nintendo of America has stated that some Wii systems may have difficulty reading the high-density software due to a contaminated laser lens. Nintendo is offering a free repair for owners who experience this issue. So it would be pointless to find out wether your wii is incompatible with this game when nintendo is offering a free repair if you encounter this issue. you should verify this by contacting them.

That's good to hear. I'd hate to buy Brawl and then realise my Wii didn't work, though. It would be agony having it sitting there and not being played

	By the way, regarding problems running the disk, it has nothing to do with the model. It's really a dust issue rather than an actual hardware issue, since the hardware itself is just dirty, not defective. Dual layer disks are just more difficult for the lens to read. Anyway, I wouldn't worry. Chances are it will work, launch system or not, and there are ways to clean it without Nintendo.

Brawl is the first game to have a double layer disc, and Brawl isn't out in Europe yet, making it unreleased for Europe.
