	Log in to remove this sponsored message Should I leave my Wii in Stand By Mode (Yellow Light) or should I turn it to the red light mode? I heard some things about overheating. Is that only when the Wiis on? or is it when its on standby too... Does it still have a connection to the internet (recieving messages) on the redlight mode?

	Over-heated Wiis are few and far between, there's really nothing to worry about. I'd say just leave your Wii in standby mode if you know you're going to be getting some messages. As for receiving messages when the light is red, nope it doesn't. That's kinda the point of having the Wii with the yellow light; you can still get messages but the console doesn't have to be on. -------------------

	If the room with your Wii in it is hot, then keep the standby off. And you still receive messages and stuff when you turn it on, it just happens slower. ------------------- www.neonshift.com

	It is a very rare occurrence, but just to be safe, keep your Wii in a cool place with ventilation while it's in standby mode. If you do that, you should be just fine! -------------------

	A small number of Wiis out there have the over heating issue and Nintendo has made note of it (i really wish I can dig up that official notice again from their site). Leaving the Wii on stand by at times can cause the Wii to heat up more than when its actually being used (since the internal fan is not on when on standby) and can corrupt the graphics card on some Wiis. Although you should be ok with it on, I prefer to have mine turned off just to be on the safe side - especially since i'm not actively needing to connect online with it anyways. 	Since there is very little use of the Wiiconnect24 feature right now, I see no real reason to keep the system in standby mode. However, the last firmware update has made the Wii run much cooler in standby mode, so you should be safe as long as your Wii is in a decently ventilated and cool area. ------------------- General Wii U \| General 3DS

	Ive had mine on standby since launch and i have had no problems..... yet. What about the shop channel? doesnt that update through wii connect 24? do you have to update or something everytime new VC games are released and you want to see/download them?

	The shop channel updates every time you go into it. The only thing standby mode pulls in is the weather channel and the news channel. ------------------- General Wii U \| General 3DS

	It also pulls in content for the voting channel, mii channel, as well as messages from nintendo and other people. But like I stated before, if you're not constantly checking the weather or using the shop channels or stuff like that then there really is no need to keep it on standby. -------------------
