The Necromancer-Pg-13, mild violence, few gory moments here and there...

The Necromancer...

Created by ~Lys2313

Gloomy, that certainly seems like the kind of word one would use to depict my hometown. Having been ravaged by the 3 year drought, many of the townsfolk died in their homes. Many of the houses were made of wood, so typically there were many fires. My own home, was falling apart at the seems, The wood looking so disastrously appalling, it seemed to creek just from a glance. My parents, were slowly driven to insanity. Even going so far as to trying to kill me to try and get at least SOME moisture out of my corpse. My mother, was born as a sickly child. They never imagined she would bear a healthy young boy, but here I am. My father, the village warrior, was a massive being. Standing just under 6 feet, his muscle bound body was quite intimidating...In his prime anyway, in his current state he was nothing more then a big burly teddy bear. I was a typical 13 year old, not too big or too small, getting a bit chubby while my body prepared for the impending growth spurt. The lack of food and water didn't really show much on me, many of the villagers feared me, believing I was cursed or even a demon. My own parents thought the same, eventually deciding it might be better if I died, that might bring the rain back to the land. They came at me in full force. My mother, came first. Wielding her freshly sharpened kitchen knife, thinking it was just a joke I stood there slightly shocked by her actions. But when the blade dug into my left shoulder I realized that she really meant to kill me.Grabbing at the nearest object, in this case a chair, I swung it brutally, fearing for my life. It hit her square in the head, blood began to ooze its way out from her wound. For now, the battle was done, my mother lie dying at my feet. Fearing she could still harm me, I ran into my room, nearly flying up the staircase. I locked the door and sat on my bed, listening and waiting. I knew my father would be lost within the clutches of insanity, just like my mother.

Hours passed and my breathing and heart rate slowed, returning to normal. The actions I had taken against my mother slowly burned themselves within my mind. Was she dead..? I wondered, it was only then that my mind finally took note of the knife in my shoulder. I let out a deep breathe as I ripped it from my shoulder, blood flowing freely from the now gaping wound. My left arm was paralyzed, and would likely be for some time. The knife tore through my arms muscle ligaments, the pain was becoming unbearable. Thinking quickly, I ran into the first aid room. I bandaged it and tried to keep the blood from pouring out. Feeling faint, I laid down in my blood caked bed. Sleep creeping over me quickly.

I was suddenly awoken by a profound lack of breathe. My eyes being blurry, I could not entirely understand what was going on. Grabbing at the powerful arms wrapping themselves around my throat, I realist my father was trying to kill me, like my mother had hours before. "Cursed demon, I knew you would do nothing but harm my wife and my life. There was no way she could bear a child as healthy as yourself!" He cried, clenching my throat harder and harder. I struggled as hard as I could, but I began to black out, the cold hand of death creeping over me...

In my minds eye, I was lost within a fog. Looking around I saw stone markers, a graveyard of sorts. The ground was strewn with what seemed to be pools of blood. I could see bits of clothing, broken helmets, shields and a few blades lying across some of the markers. A moon, vastly different from the one I was used to shone crimson light, giving the impression that the land was set ablaze. I wandered, feeling slightly terrified, but yet at the same time I felt like I belonged here. Eventually, I found myself before a pool of water. It, unlike everything else in this area, seemed almost...beautiful, as though it were still pure. Standing before it, I saw my reflection, the sight of a young boy, my timid features and greasy brown hair were a terrible mess. My clothing was in taters and full of dust and soot, my shoulder seemed healed, as though blood had never seeped into it. As I gazed into the water, I was entranced by my eyes. I knew I was born with deep blue eyes, like the spirit of ice inhibited them. However, my reflection showed eyes of crimson, deeper then even that of my blood. My reflection started to move, the lips mumbling words I couldn't understand. Waving his arms around in seemingly odd ways, I could see corpses rising from the rows of grave markers. "Necromancy..." I whispered as my eyes were mesmerised by the scene being painted before me. How I knew this word, or what it even meant was beyond me. "Exsisto existo denizens of nex quod senium. Abicio veil of nex quod ingredior iterum inter thread of vita." I whispered silently, not knowing the power behind those words, looking around me I saw hands rip through the earth in an attempt to break free. They were summoned, their master was calling them. Little did I know, that master was me. Fearing the unknown, I ran...I ran to try and live life again...I don't know what happened, but eventually I just...woke up...

Somehow, my father lay dead at my feet, his body decomposed into nothing. I got up, feeling a little woozy from not using my own body and the lack of oxygen. Feeling a little uneasy with my fathers corpse at my feet, I tried to walk away into another room. Finding the staircase, I nearly fell down. "Wow, musta been out cold for a while, feeling dizzy and I can barely stand on my own legs". I eventually made my way out of the house, or rather, what was left of it. My eyes needed a few seconds to get used to the light. Looking around at the remnants of what was once my village and hometown, I had no idea what had happened, or how long I was asleep. Sitting down, I moved my body parts, to try and get a feel for it. Thats when I finally noticed my left arm. Unlike the rest of my body, it was nothing but bare bone, whiter then snow. I screamed out in fear and repulsion. "Wha...what am I...????? What...What the hell happened to me!!!" Ravens flew away, scared off by my sudden burst. I couldn't comprehend it...How could my arm be dead...decayed into nothing. The rest of my skin was in its proper place, I was fine, unharmed...A little wobbly, but not worse for wear. I tried flexing my arm, to see if it had any strength in it. I could hold objects, and wave it around like any normal being...The only difference was it was devoid of anything but bone. "What....what have I...become...? Am I...really a Demon...???" I was in tears now, not sure what to do I just sat there and cried. Screaming out my contempt against the world...

I scavenged the town for whatever I could find. I knew I wouldn't find any answers to what I needed to know about myself by sitting around questioning the air around me. I found some thick leather and a chain-mail which fit my upper body. The leather was thick enough to offer light protection, but I didn't want to seem like a warrior or a well trained fighter. So I also wore a simple robe, which allowed a cool breeze to cool me off under the rather warm armor. In some of our "nobles" homes, I found a few pieces of fine clothing that I could sell off in the country's capitol for a decent bit of money. I found enough dried beef to last me a few days, and hoped I could find a stream to get enough water for the trip soon. I counted out 30 emeraldius pieces, and 18 gold in total. So if worse came to worse I still had that to live off of. I had no idea where I was going...but by the gods I would know when I got there...I only hoped it led to understanding this...thing, and not to more questions...

re: The Necromancer-Pg-13, mild violence, few gory moments here and there...

So I set out, still unsure about my newfound...well, I guess its still an arm...I covered it by wearing some gloves, so its not TOO noticeable. I set out on the lonely dirt road, no idea where in hell I was going. My pack had enough supply's to last a good 3 or 4 days at best...Or, so I hoped. The road seemed old, not very traveled. Lots of weeds poked out from the ground here and there, few insects skittering along the ground. I walked for what seemed like hours, took a break under a tree for a bit, enjoying the shade. Searching through my pack, I pulled out a small bit of dried meat. I ate it ravenously, it seemed to disappear almost as fast as I pulled it out. Gazing around, I noticed a forest on the horizon. "Joy...Not looking forward to being alone in there at night" I said out loud with a sigh. Having rested up enough, I got my pack back onto my back and continued towards the forest in the distance. Hoping to reach it by nightfall, I would set up camp then.

"Has he awoken yet?" A voice, cold as ice asked intently. "I believe so, the boys talent has already taken effect. Its only a matter of time before it consumes him..." This voice, more...Feminine..."Think he'll come to us before then?" This voice sounded commanding and powerful. "Well, he's awoken hasn't he? I give it three cycles of the moon before it consumes the next step. 5 cycles before he arrives here, and at least a year after that before it fully awakens" The cold voice replied. "Good, send some...help, to guide him to us." The commanding voice replied. "Yes my lord" The two replied in unison. Thunder boomed in the background, the Lord let out a deep yawn before rising. He walked across the darkened dungeon room, lit only by torchlight. He stopped at the nearby bookshelf, selected a book with a deep auburn color, and returned to his seat. "The wait...such torture..." With a sigh, he opened the book flipping through the pages as he lost himself in thought.

"Well, at least the forest isn't as spooky at night that I thought it would be..." With a sigh of relief, I set to working on a place to sleep. Deciding it would be best not to make a fire, I pulled out the blanket from my pack, unrolled it and lay it on my body, using the pack as a pillow. Looking up, I could see some of the stars. But what really caught my eye was the moon. It shone a deep orange. "Odd...I've never heard of the moon being Orange" I thought to myself. "Oh well, better sleep, the less time it takes me to figure out whats with my arm, the better." I whispered, as sleep gripped me.

In my mind eye, I was once again in that graveyard. Looking around, the entire area was the same as it was. Feeling slightly braver then the last time I was here, I looked for the reflecting pool. I could never find it, instead I found a woman. "Ah, there you are little boy..." She said just above a whisper. She was breathtaking, long black hair. Deep crimson eyes, lips in an almost innocent smile, and in a dress as black as the night sky. "Who...Who...are you...?" I asked, half afraid, half mesmerized. "Ah, thats for me to know, and you to find out someday. But, thats not today. For now, you may call me Rose." Her voice melodious and rich, like music to my ears. I felt entranced by her presence. Like there was more to her then I could see on the surface. "Whats your name?" She asked with a small laugh, a laugh that I will never forget. It alone broke any misconceptions I had about her, she was far from innocent..."My...name is...My...name...is..." I couldn't answer her, I couldn't even remember my own name! She laughed yet again, this time it made me shiver coldly. "So, even your name was erased from your mind hmmmm? Well then, do you know where to go from here?" This also got me thinking...I couldn't even remember the name of my hometown...What was wrong with me???? "I...I don't even know what the place I left is called...How can I know where to go??" This made her seem angry, her eyes flashed and her smile quickly dissapeared. "So...You've not even gained that ability yet...Hmmmm, this could be a problem." With that she got up and came towards me. I was so terrified at that moment, but I couldn't move. Its like I was rooted in place! "Now then, hold still. I'll awaken that ability for you..." She merely touched me with one finger. But in that second, I felt the power she held. It was like I had aged hundreds of years in that very second, I felt so weak. But when she removed her finger, I was able to move on my own, still alive and quite alright. "Now then, where are you headed?" She asked me yet again, this time more sternly. "To...The Ne...Ne...Necropolis...?" She smiled that innocent smile. "Good, now then, I expect you there within 3 cycles of the moon, or else I'll be quite cross with you. And you wouldn't want THAT now would you?" I quickly shook my head no. "Thats what I thought, now then. Off you go" With that I awoke with a jump, dawn was breaking on the horizon, and my forehead felt cold as ice. There was something going on...I was in the middle of it, and I have no idea whats going on...But there's definitly something...

It didn't take me long before I was on the road again, I decided to eat as I walk to save time. The forest itself was relatively calm. Not much to worry about, few sounds made me jump from time to time, but outside of that I felt relatively safe. That is until..."ATACK!!!!" Out of seemingly thin air, a band of 5 people appeared from the forest around me. "Tch..naiveness, yee have struck me yet again" I thought to myself. "Just give use your pack and you can go." The one I decided was the leader said. I sighed as I removed my pack tossed it over to him and continued on my way. I didn't want any trouble so I just gave into their demands, its not like I stand a chance against 4 armed men and a lady...right? "Your gloves too, they look valuable!" He called out too me. "Shit...This dosen't bode well" I thought to myself. "No, I need these gloves, you've got the rest of my stuff, isn't that enough for you cut throats?" Fearing for my life, I had no idea why I suddenly felt so bold. "No, it isnt enough. Your in no position to negociate kid. Just give us the gloves and your life will be spared." I turned around, I don't know what came over me exactly, but I suddenly felt powerful..."Look, you have my stuff, now leave me alone. I don't want any trouble." They backed off, looking more then a little frightened. The leader stepped forward, completely undaunted. "I want those gloves, now take them off or I'll instruct you in incomparable pain." He drew his blade, a clean 34 inch stainless steel beauty. It gleamed lightly from the little light that made it through the forests tree tops. "No, you'll leave me alone and I'll be on my way. Its that simple" I replied, glaring at him, not giving in an inch. He came foreward, took a swing at me with his blade. Out of instinct I went to block it, but my arm reacted faster then my mind. In a flash my left arm had caught the blade in its fingers. It dug through the material and hit the bone, a shiver shot through my body at that feeling. What happened next is almost impossible for words. The blade seemed to scream in fear, as it slowly turned to dust. "What...just what in the 9 hells are you!!!!!" The leader screamed running away from me, his followers ran as well, dropping my pack as they went. "What...am I...Who...Am I...?" I asked aloud to no one in particular. I suddenly felt exhausted, and collapsed in a heap on the ground...

2 chapters in one night, a rarity...Hopefully it dosen't kill the over-all quality of the work...

re: The Necromancer-Unrated, read at own risk I suppose.

This time, I awoke without any dreams. Not sure what had happened or how long I was out of it, I tried to get a grip on my surroundings. I was in a small room, under a blanket I assumed. I tried to get up, my muscles ached as I forced them to work. I uttered a groan, which seemed to warn whoever was around that I had awoken. The door to the room opened, and a girl I faintly recognized came in. She had deep green eyes, and shoulder length nutmeg hair. Her eyes could almost tell a thousand tails. She reached over to a nearby table, grabbing a cloth from a bowl, she then laid it on my head. It felt frigid, but it calmed my nerves quite fast. Before I could ask any questions she put her fingers to her lips as a sign of silence. And so, fearing for the worst, I was silent. She walked out without saying a word. I heard some russling outside, wishing I could hear what was going on, I tried my best to be silent. I was rewarded by seeing the leader walk into the room and look at me with a glum look.

"Just what I need...I face death all the time these days it seems" I thought to myself. He wore only simple leather padding, his face no longer covered by the shroud he wore in our previous encounter. "So...Your not dead huh" He stated matter of factly. "So, whats with your arm kid?" His eyes showed they were still afraid of me, but he had to be courageous to keep his band under control. "I...I really don't know" I said in a faint whisper. "Your gonna need to speak up kid. I can assure you that as long as your here you wont be hurt by anyone...Seems kinda stupid to kill a kid were trying to save." He said, almost sounding like he was suddenly in a good mood. "...Thanks..."

During my childhood years, I was always a distant kid. Everyone just, gave me my space, so I really never got too know anyone outside of my parents. So naturally, I was more then slightly out of place around these...thieves. I mean...Sure, they took care of me, but only after they robbed me and tried to kill me...Needless to say I was more then a little paranoid around them. But, they saved my life, so I suppose it...balances itself out. I've got nothing to lose in trying to trust them...Right? Thats how I saw the situation, so I mustered all my strength and pushed myself to talk to this man. "Don't mention it kid. We DID try and kill you...But when we realised you were just a kid we kinda felt bad, Thieves honor and all that..." His voice sounded sincere enough, so I worked up the courage to talk to him. "Where...Where am I?" My voice broke near the end, I cursed myself in my mind. "Still afraid huh, well can't say I blame ya. Well, currently your in my sisters room, she made us take care of you after she saw you collapse. Personally, I felt like just leaving you there to die, but she's the one who cooks...So if I wanted to eat, I had to take you in." He let out a small laugh. "Before you ask any other questions...You've been out for 3 days, your clothing has been washed, and your currently wearing some of my old clothing. Hope you don't mind, outside are the rest of my friends, they're not as worried about you as my sister was, but they don't look out for anyone other then themselves...so I guess thats understandable." He took a deep breath before he let me speak. "So...Who are you guys? I know your some kind of thieves...I learnt that the hard way unfortunately...But other then that I don't really know much..." I said uneasily, they were 5 and I was 1, I was still sickly and couldn't even fight a child, so I really hoped we could keep it peaceful between us. "Well, we ARE thieves, but were not cut-throats...We do follow the thieves code of honor, so as long as your not fully healed, we won't hurt you. And seeing as your a kid, we'll give you some of your stuff back. But only enough to send you to the nearest town. After that its adios kid, you'll likely never hear from us again. However, 'till then, your a comrade and we wish you well. My name is Akamari, my sisters name is Serena, and the other 3, well...if they want ya to know their names they'll tell ya themselves. Hmmmm...am I forgetting anything..." I slowly absorbed the information, I was grateful for Akamari and his sister for helping me, but I was still afraid, even though they DID give me their word...I felt it was better to be cautious. Seeing as he had spoken a lot, I decided maybe I could confide a bit in him. "I'm...not sure what my name is. Everything is a blur for as long as I can remember. I can only remember bits of my past, like moments in my childhood, what my parents look like...and...Thats about it. Its not much too work with..." I wanted to tell him about the lady in the dream...But something said it would be best if I kept it to myself. So I decided to ask him what they were doing in the woods. "What were you guys doing in the woods anyway?" It seemed to take him by surprise. He took his time to think about an answer. "Well...We were told that a prince would be coming through here. Seeing as you were wearing all that nice stuff, we figured it was you. But it turns out you were just some random kid...Our bad..." He reluctantly said. "I guess we shoulda figured you weren't a royal...I mean, you WERE alone after all...Well, were kind of even, you did destroy my blade after-all." I was shocked by him...He was actually trying to pin the blame on me! The nerve of that guy. "Well...Who was it that told you?" His facial expression changed dramaticly, as though he was suddenly terrified. "Well...She called herself "Rose". She was...breathtakingly beautiful, as though my entire being was being drained out of me by her eyes...I felt like I would kill anyone and do anything to please her..." The words came out in a dreamers sigh. "...Why would Rose try and get me killed...? She wants me to make it to the Necropolis...whatever that is...But she sent these guys after me...?" I thought to myself, wondering if I really WAS safe here or not. Just to change the already touchy subject, I asked him a question. "Do you know...where or...what the Necropolis is?" His serious demeanor returned, "now, why would you want to know about that place? What business could a kid like you possibly have there..." I could see that I might have made yet another mistake by bringing it up, but it was too late to back out now. "Well...I just feel this tugging memory in my head that says thats where I'm supposed to go...Is it weird for me to say that?" I could tell he was thoroughly doupting my words, and was looking for any scrap of truth he could find in them. "Well...A Necropolis is a holy ground...well, Unholy for most. A dark cult called "Necromancers" assemble there. They learn curses, spells, hexes and summons. Specificly, those tied to death. Many...well, many fear a Necromancer, for they say he can never truly die..."

So...My arm...could be a...curse of some sort? I guessed that I would only find out by going there...this didn't look too good for me. A cult of people who toy with death...What in the 9 hells could they want with me...? Could I truly be a demon like the villagers proclaimed I was? Could my arm be...some kind of sign? And who...or what is Rose...Why is she making my life harder then it already is. Necromancers...can never truly die...Does that mean that..I am one..? Ugh...I'm gonna give myself a headache at this rate...maybe its best for me to just forget about it...But...Rose said I had better be there, or she'd be angry with me...And I KNOW thats not someone I wish to anger...So...I guess I'm stuck following her wishes, for now at least.

"I see...Ummm...can I eat something?" I asked slightly timidly. Akamari smiled, he seemed glad for the change in subject. "Yeah sure, I'll find you some food, don't go anywhere." With that he left, leaving the door open slightly to let some light and fresh air in. The light itself was a shade of orange, so I guessed it was sometime near the evening or the early morning. Either way, I was ravenous and couldn't wait for him to get back. I made another feeble attempt at getting up, my muscles were more relaxed, and weren't as stubborn as before. I was able to sit up a little bit, most of my weight was on my buttox. I looked at my left arm again, They didn't remove the gloves...At least, I think they didn't. I removed the one on my left arm, and scanned the bone. The bone was clean as it was before it took the slash the other day. "What...but, how could you heel that fast...?" I said aloud. "I was wondering the very same thing myself" a voice called out from outside the room. It sounded deep, which made me picture a big guy. The door opened and a small boy walked in. "I was curious about your arm myself young'un" He said, the deep voice apparently belonging too him. My eyes grew wide, and I had to choke back a lot of laughter.

As far as people go, he seemed to be one in a million. I didn't recognise him as being in the group that attacked me, so I assumed he was just some random person. He stood at just above 5 feet in height, was quite thin, bit raggedy and worse for wear. His face had a few scars, and a beard that could make many men cry. What stood out the most, was his bald head. I felt like I could stare at it for hours and never get bored, it was just soooo shiny. If I was to guess, I'd have said he was a Dwarf...or part Dwarf part Human. "You are...?" I asked almost afraid to hear his voice in fear of laughing at him. "I'm Darwin, the demi-human. As I'm sure you've guessed by now, I'm half-human half-dwarf. A rare mix...I imagine my father was terribly drunk and mistook my mother for a beautiful dame, which I can assure you she isn't...well, by human standards anyway. For a dwarf, she was a rare sight. With a beard strong and long, good for hangin on too when their...well, yes thats a tale for another day I suppose." He was...odd to say the least. His gruff voice coming out of such a small body was amazingly funny too me. But his ramblings made it that much harder not too laugh at him. "Now then, I do believe we were talking about that peculiar arm of yours, it killed one of my finest blades...I remember scalding my hand more then once with it, that was the day I decided it was high time I got a new pair of gloves for smithing. Now then...What were we talking about again..? Oh right your arm! Now, I'm no mage, but I do believe your arm is hexed, by a Necromancer no less. If I were to guess, I would say its slowly draining your life force, too eventually make you nothing but a walking skeleton, taking one limb at a time. Akamari says you feel a pull, or a voice in your head telling you to go to a Necropolis, am I right?" All this he said amazingly fast, I asked him to repeat himself at least 3 times before I got it all in..."Yes...thats about right. I just...feel a voice telling me thats where I need to go." I said to him politely. I don't know what it was about Darwin, weather it was the fact that his voice didn't belong in his body, or his quite interesting ramblings. But I just, liked him as a person, it just felt like I'd known him for years. "Well, then I believe its safe to assume you've been cursed by a Necromancer who's taken interest in you young...What did you say your name was?" I tried to think of my name...even just a first letter would have been nice, but I couldnt remember it... "Well...I'm not entirely sure WHAT my name is quite honestly..." I felt a tear flow from my right eye. "There there young'un, no need to cry over it. I suppose I could just call ya Young'un, I can guess you'd be around your early years into manhood, if not just a tad younger." He tried to reasure me, I know, but it didn't help much. I was lost in a world in which I didn't know my own name...Or even who I was, most of my past, or even whats been happening to me...

"Well, I see you've met Darwin." Akamari walked into the room, carrying a plate with a small mix of food. "Well, I hope you enjoy Serena's cooking, she's normally quite good at it." He handed me the plate, I couldn't recognize any of the food in it, so I just tried a little bit of everything, It was delicious to say the least. "Well, I can see your damn hungry. I'll go check up on my sis, you might want to get dressed and ready, your on guard duty with me tonight kid." Akamari said, keeping his seriousness about him. He left Darwin in the room with me. "Hungry?" I asked him. "No, not at all. Last time I ate her cooking I was playin with the tree's for a week! And not in the good way" He winked at me after he said that. I didn't quite get it, but I just nodded and agreed with him.

"Now then, if your gonna be on night watch, ye should be well armed...Hmmm, now where did I put that thing...Ah here it is!" He pulled out a sword, elegantly crafted, even I could tell it wasent some drab thing you found in the cheap bucket at the sword shops. "The blade is roughly 29 inches, it didn't offer me much trouble in forging it, but by the gods it was a good knife back in its day. Just hopin its kept its sharpness, you should ask Akamari for some training tips if you don't know how to use it yet. Try it out." He handed me the blade, I reached for it with my right arm, it felt a tad heavy, but I could hold it without too much effort, the hilt was a plain cross like shape, the blade was straight, and seemed to be sharp on one side only. the back was cut off, smooth and straight. "Its...beautiful, thank you!" I didn't know much about fighting, but my father had always tried to instil the ways of the warrior into me, him being the towns only fighter didn't make it any easier on me. I couldn't remember a single thing he tried to teach me, but some of the movements were imbeded within my mind...or, my body I suppose, which kind of explains trying to block the blade that time...

Dusk came faster then I'd hoped, and I was now alone with Akamari. I had my blade drawn and was gazing at it like a little boy with a new toy. "So, he gave you that huh. Know how to even us it?" Akamari said almost sarcasticly, I could feel he wasen't too happy with me, I assumed it was for what I did to his blade. "I know how to use it..." "You better!" He replied coldly. I could tell something was on his mind, but I was in no position to be asking HIM questions, so I just sat and stared at the stars. The night went on peacefully, neither of us really acknowledging the other. Eventually two of the members in his group came to replace us, I was sent back into the small room and was told to sleep. "Were gonna take you too the nearest town, don't ask where it is or what it is, just be ready to go by morning. Sleep well till then." With that, Akamari left me alone, and I drifted off into peaceful sleep...

Thanks, heres the next one up.

I awoke the next morning, still feeling quite tired. My mind seemed blank as I tried to get out of bed. Looking around for who or what had awakened me, I was surprised to see Serena there with a big smile on. "WOAH!" I nearly fell out of my bed, her eyes seemed sad suddenly. "I'm sorry, I was just...surprised...I'm not really used to having cute girls at my bed side when I wake up in the mornings..." She giggled a bit, gave me a kiss on the cheek and walked out. I got up, feeling suddenly alive and a lot more awake then I was a few seconds ago. I pulled on my robes, and tied the blades sheathe to the small travelers belt I carried around with me. I drew the blade, and walked outside, once there I could see dawn was breaking as the morning light made the small clearing we were in glow a tangy orange. Serena was working by a fire, cooking what I assumed were eggs and some kind of meat. "Hello again" I said cheerily, she looked up at me and smiled. "Thanks for making them help me, Akamari says it was your idea..." This made her giggle, which I found odd to hear from someone who was being praised. Unless she was mocking me, I felt kind of hurt that she never spoke. "Your wasting your time trying to get her to talk Youngin" Darwin said tiredly, he then choked out a yawn before continuing. "Not a soul in this land has heard the beautiful Serena's voice. She was born a mute, she's never even made a sound since I've known her. Many would think that would hinder her ability to live a normal life, but she's a brilliant mind. With her eyes alone she can tell a thousand tales...Her brother guards her fiercely...for reasons best left unsaid...But, thats a tale that I'll not share, for I care to live thanks."

So...Serena is a mute...That made me feel a little better, she wasen't ignoring me...and now that I think about it, her emotions seemed to almost talk for her. She can cook, she's beautiful, she's kind...I was falling in love, but I knew I couldn't fall into that hole...I wasen't enough for someone that amazing...Thinking about Serena got me thinking about Akamari. I don't know why he hates me...Maybe its just who he is...Darwin, well...He kinda scares me, but I like him none the less. Akamari said today their gonna bring me to the nearest town, and we'll be on our own from then on...I sighed as these thoughts passed through my mind. Darwin, who seemed to have heard me walked over to see what was eating at me. "Whats on your mind there lad?" "I just...I'm not used to people taking care of me and seeming to care for me...Its an alien feeling." He chuckled a bit. "Aye, but you were being raised in the years of the drought lad, y'can't be expectin the world to love ya now can ya?" I mused it over, and accepted that he was somewhat right. "Now just do me a favour lad! Don't be killin anymore of mah blades if ye can help it. I put my soul in them dere blades, when they break, or in the case of his, quite literally die...I feel like I lost a part of me soul" He seemed seriously hurt. "I guess theres more to a blade then I originally thought...Maybe that IS why he hates me..." I thought to myself.

Breakfast was laid out for us, and yet again Darwin declined, I didn't want to know what..."dancing in the bushes" meant....So in a way I was glad he did. Akamari stood alone on the side, and the two...well, I'd say they were Golems, just sat by a tree silently staring out into the forest. I've never heard them speak...It was...creepy, to say the least...The food was good, eaten up fairly quickly. "Now then, seeing as your headed to the Necropolis, do you know "which" one specificly?" Akamari asked as he handed his empty dish to his sister, who was cleaning them with a smile. "Theres...More then one?" I asked sheepishly. "Aye lad, theres quite a few hundred. Every large town has one, and there are a few stand alone ones, with 3 or 4 "Capitol" ones as well. Their marked out by housing only the strongest necromancers. Some royals entrust the Necro lords with the protection of their dead, seeing as weaker Necro lords attempting to gain influence and power, could resurrect a fallen family member and use him as a pawn. So, although few dare admit it, not all Necromancy is used in evil." Darwin stated matter-of-factly. "Yeah, so which one is your destination. I owe you the courtesy of bringing you to the nearest town and pointing you in the proper direction. But thats likely the last you'll hear of us." Akamari spat out, I could feel his spite like an acid burning its way into my being. "Look, I'm sorry for what happened to your sword, but I couldn't help it. You tried to kill me so the fault is your own that it was destroyed...Just stop being such an ogre towards me, I didn't do anything to harm you or your sister!" I don't know where that sudden courage errupted from, but I was shocked by my own words forming and lashing out at him. "...You really think thats why I hate you? Don't be so naive kid. If your looking for a Necropolis, its because your a Necro...One of their kind..." His voice trailed off, maybe this is what Darwin meant about guarding his sister..."Look, we'll take you to the capitol, Branbar, there you might be able to find out what your truly looking for, we need to restock for our own journey, so until then I guess were stuck traveling together." Branbar huh...Ok, it feels right...I guess me and Akamari will just never see eye to eye...The only exception being when I grow to his height anyway.

Soon after, we set out. Following a path that only I didn't seem to know where it lead. With a sure pace we emerged from the forest a few hours later, the sun was passing high noon. We stopped for a bit to rest up and eat. No one spoke much, except of course for Darwin. "Well lad, seems you've made quite an impression on Akamari. Don't be too quick to judge him however, he's got reason to feel the way he does. Anyway, Branbar is about another days walk from here, your lucky were not too far, else I'd have feared for your life." "Why's that..?" I asked him in a hushed tone. "Aaaah, well, I doupt Akamari would have felt comfortable around one he believes is a Necromancer. After what you did to his blade, I don't see why he wouldn't feel that way." "He...thinks I'm a Necromancer...? But...Why? I mean, up until a few days ago, I didn't even know they existed..." He stared at me for a moment, taking in my facial expression and eyes, after mulling it over a bit, he finally spoke again. "Well, that might be truth, but that dosen't change the fact that your left arm is hexxed, and that means you or your family have either offended a powerful Necromancer, or your of importance to one." That last bit of information sent a shiver down my spine. What use could a kid like ME be to a powerful master of Arcane Magic that transcends death itself? It seems almost like a dream...

The rest of the day went on passively, we eventually made camp a few hours after dusk fell into night. I was given a bed roll and told to make myself comfortable with it, as it was mine to keep. We made a small fire and huddled around it as Serena began to cook supper. "Why does Serena always cook?" I asked aloud. "Well laddeh, that would be because Akamari's food tastes like burnt leather, and well...No one likes eating moss like I do. So, Serena seems to be the best choice." This made sense too me, Akamari glared at me for asking such a stupid question. Serena giggled a little bit, and once again, the two others just sat back and did nothing. I never really paid attention to them, but now that I thought about it, their size, and what they wore seemed to change as time went by. "Are you...Golems?" I asked them slightly afraid of insulting them. I waited a few moments, and neither of them replied. So I tried again, "s'cuse me, but are either of you two a Golem?" One of them flinched and I instinctively drew my blade and went to defend myself, with not a moment to spare, as one of them threw a powerful punch at me, knocking the wind out of me and launching my blade out of my hands. "Well, I warned you not too bother them. They ARE Golems, but they don't take orders and hate being bothered. Darwin created them for us, they fight with near unmatched skill, and Darwin has people for company, its a fair trade according to him." Akamari said, laughing slightly at my pain. "You shouldn't be wandering like you are to a Necropolis, unless your searching for an early grave. Your too naive about the world to truly understand it. You still have that childish innocence." I was feeling insulted by him, he was demeaning me, as though I were nothing more then an annoyance too him. "Yeah well, one day...One day I'll be a man, just you wait and see!" This made him laugh even more. "You? A man? Pah, your a Necromancer, you don't even truly live. How can YOU become a man? You'll be lucky to even see daylight after we part-ways in Branbar. I'll warn you now, if I ever see you again after that, I won't hesitate to kill you. Don't take it personally, its not you I hate specifically, but your one of them, so I need to kill you...It won't change whats been done...but it will put my mind at ease...even if only for a little while." Just what was Akamari's issue with me...or rather, with Necromancers, whom he believed I was one of them at the time. I wanted too know what could have tied his hate to me for being...well, alive. But I wouldn't know unless HE told me of it himself...I drifted off into sleep...

I awoke in a half daze in the middle of the night, the embers were still lit, shedding out partial lighting. It took a few moments for me to get used to the light, but when I was able to properly see, I wished I couldn't. There was a form hovering over Serena, completely cloaked in black, it seemed to just drab over her. Lingering like a bad scent Thinking rather rashly, I slashed at the form with my left arm. It screeched a terrible sound, and my arm felt like it was on fire. I also screamed, Serena awoke with a jump and was surprised too see my huddled form on the ground, gripping at my left arm, she did the most amazing thing...She spoke...

re: The Necromancer-Pg-13, mild violence, few gory moments here and there...

She spoke...Her voice was melodious, as though the goddess of music herself inhibited her body. At that moment, I never felt so afraid...The mix of blinding pain, and the fact that she was cradling me in her arms...I was in a state of shock, other then the fact that she spoke, I couldn't remember anything else after that. I blacked out...

I dreamt, yet again of the graveyard. The mist hung heavily, billowing winds making it shift in odd patterns, I could almost make out words or figures within it. The graves were being marked, some had what appeared to be blood on them, others were black as soot. I wandered around, not really sure where I was going, eventually I could make out a large form in the distance. As I grew nearer to it, I could hear wails. Some of pain, some almost inhuman, every now and then I saw a bat flying by, sometimes a skeleton crouched around. "Is this...a Necropolis..?" I asked aloud, not really sure if anyone would answer. "No, this is THE Necropolis" I heard a voice boom. It froze me in my tracks, I scanned the area, looking for the sound, trying to locate what had made it. "The birthplace of Necromancy...Where the first of our kind learnt the secret of life within death..." The voice continued on. "Why...Why do I keep appearing here within my dreams?" I shouted out. "That, is not for me to tell you. For I am nothing but a memory, tied to these lands by the current Lord of Necro, Necrafarius." The sound of that name sent a shiver down my spine. It sounded evil and ominous..."Why was my arm burning before I passed out and awoke here?" I asked the voice. "That...is also not for me to speak of, my duty is only to guide you to this land. Within Branbar, you'll meet up with someone, who will lay out your future to you. Both halves of the coin, from then on, it will be up to you to decide where your fate leads. But know this, no matter which path you choose, it will always lead you here. For the Necropolis is your home. Now, go back to the land of the living, they await you there." With that, I collapsed...

I awoke to the sound of Darwin clanging a few pots together and chanting "WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!" "I'm up...I'm up..." I replied, feeling a little light headed. I looked around the campground, it seemed like only me and Darwin were still here. "Where is everybody...?" "Ah, well...We heard you screaming in the middle of the night, and Serena...well, she bloody well spoke! She had you in her arms, crying and saying she was sorry. I had no idea she was capable of speech...But, long story short, Akamari was awoken by it, hearing his sister speak, he freaked out and took her along with my Golems and ran. The gods only know where too..." So...That wasen't a dream, Serena was cursed by...some kind of demon, or a ghoul...Somehow I had killed it, perhaps only temporarily...But, what about my arm..? I gazed at my arm, and nearly screamed again, it was flesh and bone! Darwin gazed over at it, and let out a sigh. "Aye...So, you do have some kind of power don't you..." He scratched his head in thought. "But if I didn't know any better...I'd say you don't even know the first thing ABOUT your abilities...thats definitely a doozie..." He rambled on for a few moments, while he did that I pulled up my robes and took off my traveling boots, the next site nearly made me vomit. My legs had become charred too a deep black. The skin was peeling, and there was a strange yellow mixture coming out of it. "Well...THAT certainly can't be too healthy..." Darwin commented. I put my boots back on, and tried to stand up. I was kind of wobbly, but my legs didn't hurt at all, they felt rather strong really. "How does it feel?" He asked. "Fine, little bit strange, but they don't seem to be any weaker then they were before, in fact...it almost feels stronger..." I tried walking around a bit, this was difficult, as my legs didn't respond properly. "Hmmmmm, your legs seem to have entered an advanced state of rotting. But, the dead cells seem to have kept the rest of the inner leg healthy, even to the point of increasing the strength and dexterity of the muscles previously there...In simple terms, your legs seem to have gotten stronger from them rotting to this point...How odd..." I was in disbelief...How could I be stronger by being half dead? It didn't make any sense at the time...

We decided it would be better off just heading out and making our way into Branbar, we'd already lost nearly half a days worth of travel, so if we wanted to make it there tonight, we had to get movin. We traveled at a fast pace, Darwin said he could keep it up for days and not have to worry about resting. "Dwarven blood in me, glad me mum was a fighter! Me dad was a skirt chaser, so he had to run alot himself, I guess I kind of inherited it from both of em." He explained too me. "I guess these legs just don't use my body's energy...because I don't feel the least bit tired..." We made great progress, tearing through the path leading to the capitol, I figured the road would be full of people, I mean, a capitol is an important place right? But they were empty, thats when I knew something was going on...

Twilight fell around us, and I couldn't see any signs of life in the area. It troubled me, I could almost sense something ominous was coming...but I didn't know what..."Thats the town right there, it dosen't look like much from here, but were almost there." He pointed to a lit up area in the far off distance. I figured we would run the rest of the way. "We gonna get there tonight? Or rest up and get an early start tomorow?" He mumbled a few things to himself, before replying. "Well, I believe its the festival of life. Which would mean its in our best interest to get inside that town tonight, enjoy the festivities for a while, and then make our way to the Necropolis to get a few answers." A festival...Of life? It sounded promising, so I figured it could be fun...right? Boy was I ever wrong...

This chapter isnt my favorite, I'm quite dissapointed in it, but its up, its finished. Enjoy it, the next one will be alot longer and more in-depth, as it really marks the rest of the tale. As always, enjoy. Copyrighted to myself and my deviant art account ~Awaii_Tsubasa

re: The Necromancer-Pg-13, mild violence, few gory moments here and there...

The festival of life, was a centennial event. It happened only in the Capitol of Neitbard, Branbar. Most festivals are great fun, a time to celebrate whatever event the people believed was worthy. The festival of life, is more like...Well, a festival of death if you wish to skip a lengthly explanation. For 3 nights, Necromancers would roam free, killing any forms of life they could find wandering the land. Anyone in a home or town was safe, but outside of there. You were nothing but power to them. During the day, the people celebrated to the greatest extent, for none knew weather they would live to see the next dawn. Twili falls and the people hide in fear, the Necromancers come near...

Thats what Darwin explained the Festival as being, which explained the lack of living beings running amok along the path...I began to fear for Serena and Akamari. "Don't worry lad, they'll be fine. Death does not await them here..." Darwin said as he noticed my face cringed in worry. Sometimes it felt like he knew alot more then he led me to believe...I sometimes wondered if he could be trusted...But there was no one else to turn too, so I feared and respected him at the same time.

As we got closer to the town, it seemed to get larger exponentially. As though we were further from our destination then I originally believed. The walls were made of sleek black stone. In a round shape, like a spire that shot up straight into the heavens. I could see lots of torch light, like the whole place was set ablaze. "How long do you think till we make it to there?" I asked him, feeling weariness rear its ugly head. "Well, at this pace, I would assume merely half an hours time. We've made good progress, when we get there I'll find us some rooms in an Inn, and I'll leave you too sleep. I've some heavy drinkin and eatin awaitin me!" He seemed happy, not even the least bit afraid that we were outside when the Necromancers were harvesting the dead...I let out a sigh as we continued onwards.

We reached the town soon after, the front gates were open to allow free entry of peasants still outside. Necromancers prowled the area, but seemed limited to a certain area or else they would risk death...Which seemed displeasing to many of them. "Why would they be afraid of dying...Aren't Necromancers able to fool the hand of death?" I asked Darwin. "Well, yes and no. Only Arcane Necromancers are actually able to tie their soul to their body, which is done by dying. So in reality, the greatest Necromancers to ever live...Are actually dead..." So...They gained their power by dying, which seems to defeat the purpose of cheating death. I imagined Necromancy wasen't as great and powerful as I had imagined to begin with..."But, thats only the final goal of a Necromancer, many never aim for it, for it is vastly hard to achieve. As they must end their life prior to their time of death. It isnt guaranteed to work, but those who succeed are said to be vastly more powerful then the average Necro." Its almost like he could read into my thoughts..."But...How did you know I was thinking that...And how do YOU know all of this...????" He laughed quite a bit at that. "Well, you believe your tangled in with a Necromancer, it would only make sense that you'd want to know more of it. As for how I know, I'm a man of Knowledge, the more I know the better prepared I am in vast situations, no?" He made sense..I had to give him that much.

We made our way into the town. The inside was lit up with paper lanterns and bright decorations. It seemed like Darwin was right, people did go all out on this festival. "Well, we'll go find an Inn and I'll see you sometime tomorrow then lad." The town itself felt like a giant maze. The roads twisted, zig-zaged and just ran around in circles. The streets were filled with people, eating drinking having a great time and just fully enjoying life. There were erotic dancers, both male and female, drunkards, some demi-humans, I even thought I saw a goblin or two in the area. Kids were sleeping in piles here and there, not really aware of what the whole festival is all about and just too tired to really care. Teenagers were running amuck, parents just as bad. There were no rules and everything goes for this is the Festival of Life. We eventually found a small Inn, t'was called the Blue Moon Inn. Inside an ungodly old lady greeted us and showed us to our rooms. We had gotten one room to save our money but there were 2 beds. The room itself was a simple square like room, a small fireplace on the opposite side the door, with a small window to the left of it. On the right wall, there were 2 beds, both simple framed with blankets and 3 pillows. There was also a small nightstand in the middle of the two, and a dresser with preening desk lie on the far left side of the room. We thanked the lady and she gave us the key. We unpacked silently and got ready for the coming night of celebration. "I'll find myself a nice bar and be around there, you take this and go enjoy yourself, let loose I've plenty of money to cover our expenses."He handed me a handful of emeraldius coins. Now, in case you've forgotten or don't know. An emeraldius is worth 20 gold coins, you should have about 20 of them there. A tiny fortune, I do hope you don't spend it all in one night, but I would understand if you did. Go out and enjoy yourself young'un!" He then walked off, whistling a merry little tune. I dropped the coins in my pocket, got dressed in some simple green and brown pants and a shirt, and set out to see the sights and try and enjoy myself, any thoughts of rest and restoration having long departed from my mind.

I just wandered around the town, not really seeing much of interest. I tried out some new food, got a few party hats and pretty much got lost a few times. I noticed some people wore only black, where as the rest of them wore many colours, all of which were bright. I felt like I was lost in a kolydaskope of color. It felt dizzying, so I went into a small restaurant, ordered whatever they wanted to give me. Looking around, I felt like I was being watched. There in the far back corner, an elderly looking lady robed in deep black and red robes was staring at me. "Come closer..." She whispered, no one but me seemed to hear her. Feeling afraid, but yet curious, I went to her. She was seated behind a rectangularly shaped table. She pulled a deck of cards from her sleeve. "Care for a bit of a card read lad? Free for you, such a pleasently handsome face you've got..."

She began to shuffle the cards, laying them out in a certain fashion. "I didn't agree to this..." I said sheepishly. "Well, no harm in a bit of a reading hmmmm?" She replied with a cackle. She was scarring me more and more as the moments went on. The cards were lain out, all face down. 7 in total, she drew the top most. "Death...Harbinger of souls, desecrater of life..." The card depicted the Grim reaper, with a simple grey background. She then drew the bottom card. "The spirit of the moon..." This card depicted a simple sphere with a black background. She then drew the far left card. "A smiling child..." She reached for the outer right card. "A demon..." She drew the card below the top, just above the center card. "Hells fire..." The one below it. "Hmmmm The Noble Star..." The left of the center card again."Ahhh, a flower...a Rose..." The one to the right of it. "Darkness...." Finally, she drew the center card. "...Conflict..." This card had a man, with wings, one angelic and one demonic...one side set in smile, the other set in tears and anger..one side light the other side dark...She let out a sigh. "You've quite the reading...Death and hell, are your strengths...The moon and the stars...Your guardians. You've two paths to choose from... One, brings you Love and a happy Life....The other...Untold power...Interesting..." With that she began to mumble to herself, the fortune having been told, I bid her farewell and walked out to ponder the reading. I reached into my pocket to count my money, when I found a card...Conflict was in my pocket...

"How goes his travels...?" The lord asked. Looking rather bored with the news his Minions had brought before him. "He's in BranBar right now, he has met up with one of the Mages, she has laid out his future, but other then that it seems she did nothing." The Lord snarled. "THATS ALL YOU'VE LEARNT!?!?! GET BACK OUT THERE AND DON'T COME BACK UNTIL YOU FIND ME SOMETHING USEFULL!" As his anger raised, the sky turned green, lightning crackled like thousands of whips, the ghouls in the Necropolis all stood silently, fearing his wrath. He calmed down slightly at the sight of Rose, wearing a crisp blue dress, her eyes filled with lust. "Calm down, he will come to us. I've made sure of it..." She said secretively. Her movements were seductive, invigorating a sense of stillness and relaxation within the Lords being. "If you say you've taken care of it, then I shall wait patiently...For now anyway..." A Necromancer plays the hand of death, they cannot fall in love, for the one they love could easily only be after their soul and power. The life of a Necromancer is hardly what many would consider beautiful...

"Well? What of Nathalanda? Has she contacted the child?" A man robed in crimson red robes with golden trimming asked impatiently. "Yes m'lord, Mistress Nathalanda has indeed met with the boy.She says his fate is uncertain, that in the end only he can decide where it leads." The messenger, a young man in his late teens replied. "...This is not shaping out well, that boy is a great terror for our ways...We must get him on our side...Elsewise the order of the Flames of Chaos will be finished for good!" His eyes began to spark and the curtains were set ablaze. "I know my lord, I shall return to her and bring some reinforcements to try and change his will." He quickly excused himself and left the angering Lord alone to fume. The curtains were still ablaze, but the flame was loosing its ferocity as his temper faded. "Perhaps they would be able to pull him from the clutches of the Undead. Worse comes to worse we must simply eliminate him before he gains too much power...But it might already be too late..." his eyes turned docile, he turned to another book in his vast Library, and sat down to read. "Maybe I AM worrying too much...Ah, such a beautiful tome..." His words drifted off as he became immersed in his novel.

Conflict...What could it mean for me...? A struggle...Which side to choose...But...what does it mean? I kept gazing at the card, not really paying attention to my surroundings. I eventually made my way into a dark alley and ran into one of the buildings before I snapped out of it. I turned around, ready to leave, when suddenly a group of 4 cloaked in black appeared. "Ahhhhh, fresh meat!" One of them hissed, preparing to pounce on me. "I wouldn't do that...He has the scent of the lord on him...Perhaps he's of importance...or just a fool...No matter, in death he shall be usefull to us!" As he finished saying that, the others behind him were mumbling a chant. "Decumbo nex , orior oriri ortus iterum ut undead held per mos of macies vinco..." I felt like the life within me was being drained out, little by little I could feel death claiming me...Words began to form within my mind, I subconsciously whispered them..."Exsisto existo denizens of nex quod senium. Abicio veil of nex quod ingredior iterum inter thread of vita."After whispering it a few times, the ground around us began to shake, forms appearing from the tiled flooring. They began as dust, slowly forming into Human shapes, some missing body parts. All of which decayed beyond recognition, the majority of them wore simple steel armor, while 2 had a golden tinted one. They were dusty, looked old and worn out. The forms stood at attention, awaiting orders. The Necromancers stood back in awe. "He can summon desecrated spirits without a ritual circle...I knew it wasen't a good idea to come after him" One of them cried, running away in fear, he made it 4 steps before being cut down by the spirits. The others tried to plead for mercy, but the spirits were merciless, killing them quickly, after the fight was done and the dust settled, they stood at attention, took a bow and dissapeared...Leaving behind nothing but pools of fresh blood. A crowd began to gather, I quickly ran off, trying hard not to get too much attention.

I ran through so many streets, I was surprised I haden't been stopped by anyone. I was running so fast that my ears began to bleed, so I stopped in a small bar. Took a seat and ordered some water. I heard a rather rowdy customer who sounded familiar, there I saw Darwin, in a drunken stupor. Laughing and telling tales faster then the ear could comprehend. I walked up and sat beside him. "Ah, there ya are lad. Oi've been ere with this pareeee o dames" He said, launching a few hiccups mid speach. "They say their intrerestededed in my workingnsns...I sheem to be loshing mah ability to shpeakish naturaly...I belief I should shtop...but I'm havin way too moooch funnin...Ere lad, try shom?" He was completely and utterly drunk...I let out a sigh and walked off, I began to recognise some of the sites, so I was eventually able to find my way back to the Inn, I went to sleep, dawn breaking on the Horizon. Before passing out of exhaustion, I pulled out "Conflict" and looked at its features again, trying to understand what it meant. I gave up soon after, too tired to really think about what had happened. I drifted off into the land of sleep...

:"Both Lords are extremely powerful, they both Fear him and yet they both want him...but what can they gain from him..." A small figure said aloud to herself. She was hidden behind a black cloak, shaded like she wore the night sky on her body, she moved fluidly, like a river. With a sure step she ventured out of Branbar, her destination was the town where the young man was born...

As always, thanks for reading. Copyrighted too me and my DeviantART account ~Awaii-Tsubasa

Kicking! I love it! Your work is very detailed and I love the spell that you use. Is it latin, or just something you came up with?

I use an internet translation for English into Latin, I don't know how precise it is, so I'll need to eventually locate someone who speaks it fluently. But until then I'll manage with what I've got.

Thanks for reading and commenting, I don't think its all that great but everyone tells me other wise *sigh* I'll just take the compliments and not complain. I get a chapter daily, sometimes more then one. So check back often.

re: The Necromancer-Pg-13, mild violence, few gory moments here and there...

The sun was giving way into twilight when I awoke. Quickly gazing around the room, I saw no signs that Darwin had returned the night before. I pulled off the covers and went find the owner of the Inn. My room was on the second floor, I took the stairs, arriving near the front desk. There was a young lady there. She had auburn eyes and golden blonde hair. She wore a light green dress which flowed beautifully, hugging at her curves like she had been moulded into it. "Yes?" She asked straight forwardly, I was stunned by the sight of her. "You want something...?" I began to mumble my request, to find a bath or a shower to clean myself off in, unfortunately it seems she didn't hear what I said and assumed on what it was that I had said. "A date huh? Well, I get off work in half an hour...Take this bath token and meet me here in about an hour, make sure you wash yourself before then" She pointed off into the Inn and handed me a red rectangle made of solid wood. It had 3 stars painted into it. "Well? Go on then!" She cried out, I could see I was bothering her...I had wanted a bath, and somehow got a date...Go me?

The bathhouse was further inside the Inn, another receptionist was there, the old lady from the night before. "Getting a late soak before going enjoy the final night of the festival?" She asked me as I handed her the token. "Ahhh, a three star bath, someone must be needing some serious soaking time. Take the fourth door on the left, theres a hot spring out back which we use as a bath, please rinse off with a bucket outside of the water." I oppened a door, which led to a hallway. There were about 5 doors on either side, seperated by a few feet of walls. I noticed that the further into the hallway you went, the bigger the gap was. I went to the fourth door, opened it and peaked inside. There was a fairly large hole in the ground, filled with steaming water, the water had a light green tinge, and smelt mildly of musk. I imagined it would be better then smelling like an old boot.I pulled off my clothing, starting with my shirt, then my pants. It was then that I'd noticed that my legs were back to normal. I let out a deep sigh and figured I'd think about it later, for now a bath could do me some good.

The bath had done its job, the heat relaxed my muscles, left me smelling clean and looking half decently, or so I had imagined. I took a nearby towel and went on the trek into my room, hearing a few whistles as I went by. By the time I had made it into my room my cheeks felt like they were on fire. I went to the dresser, which had a small mirror, I fixed my hair. Feeling a slight breeze which cooled me down after the nice bath I'd taken. It was then that I noticed my eyes. Like the dream I had that day...it seemed so long ago, but it couldn't be more then a week ago...My eyes had a deep crimson glow to them. I let out a sigh and figured it was something else to consider later on. I got dressed in some light green clothing, this time with dabs of white here and there. I sat down on my bed and pulled out "Conflict". The words of that old lady came back to me. "Infinite power...and on the other hand...Love...how is that hard to choose from...? I've never experienced love. Power wasn't something I had much of either...I was a weak child, healthier then most, but weak none the less. I was always picked last in sports and stuff like that..."I continued to trail on, not noticing the time going by. I hear a knock at the door, when I went to go see it, the girl from earlier was there. "Are you still taking me on a date? Or am I going out on my own." She looked impatient. I'd never been on a date, or even with a girl in this kind of relation, so I was terrified at first. She wore the same clothing as before, having let her hair down, it looked even better then before, falling just above her waist. "Nice hair..." I commented as I locked the door to my room. "Thanks, what do you want to do tonight?" She asked, her mood getting better. "Well, I'm a traveler...So I really don't know what there is to do around here..." I said sheepishly, lost in her gaze. "You have such an interesting eye color..." She commented, then thinking a little bit, she finally decided on what the plan of action was. "We go enjoy the final night of the festival, they have a fireworks show later tonight, and there are a few things for couples to enjoy as well...You in or out?" I mulled it over a bit, finally deciding it would be rude to back out now..."Looks like I'm in. Shall we?" I said, putting my arm out for her to lean on. Tonight would be an interesting night. As we passed through the front door, I noticed there was no one there to greet possible guests..."Weird" I thought to myself, but shrugged off the notion.

We wandered out of the Inn, flowing into the crowd. Tonight there was music, most of it fairly poor...I assumed they were drunken at the time...But, no one was complaining, there was food and drink and merriment enough to go around. We found a small restaurant and ordered a few drinks and some food. "So, where do you hail from stranger?" She asked, that was a good question, where DID I come from. "I...I don't really know, I seem to be suffering from minor amnesia lately....Sorry" She looked disappointed, "Can you give me ANYTHING to work with?" I thought a bit, and said "Well, I've been traveling with a small group, 2 of the members have left us already, but I'm with a demi-human still. Other then that, we came from the forest about 3 days travel east of here." She laughed a bit. "Who would travel with a Demi-Human, aren't they like...dangerous?" I was shocked, she was judging Darwin without knowing him...I mean, he IS an eccentric, but that doesn't make him dangerous...right? "He's harmless to his friends, he's quite brilliant and a great traveling companion...Although he's odd when he gets drunk" I laughed a bit at the last bit. "Well, how are YOU when your drunk hmmmm?" This caught me off guard. "Well...I've never drank..." She seemed shocked, then smiled deeply...a slightly evil grin to it I add..."Well, tonights the night we get you through a few firsts hmmmm?" I swear to any god listening, her eye glinted at that moment, sending a shiver up and down my spine. I gulped in anticipation of what she had planned. "Well, lets get you alcoholised first, and we'll move forward from there." I was reluctant at first, but she ordered some sweet Dwarven Spirits, I couldn't refuse after the first sip of it. After 5 glasses, my vision became blurry and I was feeling the power of excessive alcoholic drinking....I was a kid...Don't expect too much.

I was feeling a bit woozy, and at her mercy, by the time we made it out of there. She led me across a number of roads, each more confusing then the last. Eventually she brought me to an empty plaza, dragging me along a bit further, she found a Gazebo hanging over the side of the massive town walls. "Shall we?" She asked innocently. In my current state, I couldn't hold up an argument with an infant...So I merely followed her. The star light shone lightly. The moon, now full, was worn like a pendant across the royal robe of the night sky. The light reflecting across her eyes and hair was magical too me, taking my breath away. We continued to talk a bit, my tongue slipping every now and then. I told her of what I had come here in search of, from where I'd come, and where I was going next...Not a care in the world. The only thing I truly remember from that moment is this...She giggled at my state, and leaned forward, blushing slightly. She pulled my face to hers, our lips met under the faint glow of the night sky, a young boy was I no more...Although it only lasted a few moments, it felt like an eternity...I never wanted it too end. "Did you enjoy that?" She asked innocently. Having lost the power of speech, I merely nodded my head. "Want some more?" She added lustfully, her finger trailing its way up my right arm, resting itself under my chin. At that moment, nothing in the world mattered, I was at peace, my entire being was on overload in feeling. I felt like I could die at that moment. I nodded yes again, and she dragged me back across the streets we'd passed through, lost in a tangled web of alcohol, lust...and not knowing weather it was the drinks or the kiss, but I felt lighter then air. We eventually made our way back to the Inn, she lead me into my room and laid down in my bed beside me, we locked the door and ended the night...

Pretty good. I only just found this thread.

I must ask though, did you get the skeletal arm from the Dungeons and Dragons "Pale Master" character? They get a skeletal arm with lethal touch powers. And pretty much are necromancers.

re: The Necromancer-Pg-13, mild violence, few gory moments here and there...

Light shone through the painted glass of the decrepit church. Life had long ago left this one holy ground. Where was once a place of joy and spiritual connection now lay a home of secrets, Assassins, bandits and mercenaries alike could be found here. It wasn't uncommon to have a pile of body's rotting outside of this place for having said something that was better left unsaid. This is where she hoped to find her answers, she knew that the town had not died of natural causes, the life around it was prospering, veiled in an illusion that was removed only recently. The girl was veiled behind a thin cloth like fabric, only just covering her mounds leaving nothing to the imagination. She wore tight pants showing off her powerful legs. She was here to find an assassin, the boy had to die. And only someone of immense skill could succeed in doing so. She entered the broken down chapel, men and women were fighting, selling off slaves and some were gambling. "Hey, lookit her, ain't she a sight. Why don't you come with us girl, we'll show you a great time." A bandit with a face that could make a demon puke said, putting a hand towards her. In a flash the hand was in the air, dismembered and bleeding. "Keep your hands to yourself, lest you wish to lose more then you already have. "You Bitch!" He said, raising his other arm a pack of men rose from their card game and came behind him. "Don't kill her, I want a piece of her for myself, but don't be afraid to bloody her up a bit, I love it when they scream." The five men drew their weapons and came at her in full force, she let out a sigh, drew her blade and readied herself for more bloodshed. The others in the room just stood back not wanting to get caught in the crossfire. With a silent flash, 2 men lay on the ground, blood seeping through their clothing giving them a crimson cloak. "Now, you can either back off or live life in the most pain filled manner. As for these two, well, if you give a damn about them end their suffering now that they are unconscious, as soon as they wake up they will be in blinding pain." The men seemed afraid of her and backed off. "You bitch...I'll get you yet you bitch..." The bandit backed off a bit, holding his severed arm trying to stop the bleeding. "Well, I've caught all of your attention, so I need to know is anyone here present an accomplished assassin?" A few men and women rose, each with different size and clothing. "Well, I can see I have my work cut out for me...You" She pointed to one of the women "Come with me, the rest of you go back to whatever you were doing." The assassin she picked out looked to be about 15 years old, hidden away in simple black clothing. Her hair cascaded down her back, neatly tucked away in a single braid. Her eyes shone of innocence. "So, what do you need done?" She was quick to the point. "I have a problem with a young man, he could be a really big problem for me later on if I let him live, killing him won't be easy as he has skills even he doesn't know of. Your job is to monitor him and kill him when the time is right, he must feel absolute despair at the time of his death, understood?" She nodded, a smile coming across her face, killing was the only thing she lived for. "What about payment?" "You will be payed when the deed is done, and he MUST die in despair, and I can assure you, I WILL know if you tried to cheat me out of it." With that she walked off, leaving the assassin to ponder who it was she was killing, an image of a young boy with blood red eyes appeared in her head, "this is your target" a voice said in her head. What have I gotten myself into? she thought to herself.

I awoke the next morning, feeling the horrors of my previous nights adventures. So many firsts all in one night, I had the pounding headache to prove to me most of it was real.I got out of my bed, looked around for that girl..."What was her name?" I whispered to myself silently, a small memory of her beauty lingering in my mind, the thought was quickly erased by the movement ruching up from my stomach . "Well, I see your awake. Rough night?" Darwin mumbled sleepily, he looked like he came out from the pits of hell, I guessed I didn't look much better. "Well...If I could remember I would tell you." I said sheepishly. "Ahhh, tried some underage drinking I see, no matter, you lived so no harm done eh lad?" He let out a laugh, which he regretted doing soon after, moaning in pain at the headache he caused himself. "Well, I guess now we should head to the Main Necro tower, this branch is that of the White, committed to keeping the souls of past rulers and people of importance in peace. So we shouldn't run into too much trouble. The only trouble I can think of, is my Hangover, and possibly getting lost along the way." He finished his sentence with a slight slur, either the alcohol still had a grip on him or he was fluctuating in and out of consciousness...I couldn't tell. We dressed, ate some breakfast and paid our fare, we asked for directions but no one in the Inn knew, so we decided to check out the local Library. The roads had lost their festive glamour and now looked more like a dank place deprived of life. .The walls of most shops were sprayed with Alcohol spills, urine and god only knows what else. The older citizens were relaxing peacefully, taking their hangovers as peacefully as they could, the children continued to be well, kids, making the lives of the adults a rather hellish moment for now.

Eventually we found our way to an old building made of what appeared to be Clean White Marble. The inscription at the entrance was stated as such "Branbar Official Library and City Hall, Let the light of knowledge shine and bless you with the guidance you seek." We pulled open one of the twin Oak Doors and entered a large circular room. There were 2 hallways, above one was marked "LIBRARY" the other "CITY HALL" they both had an elegant red carpet with a gilded trimming. "This place seems rather inviting" I said, a small quiver in my voice. "Yes, its a place of knowledge, if people feared it then we would never advance ourselves and we'd be stuck in the current age for eternity." Darwin said with a spark in his eye. It was fairly apparent that he loved learning about anything and everything, this was his candy shop and he was all too eager to get his hands on it. The hall leading into the library was lined with various armor and weaponry depicting the war movement across the years, there were also paintings of Famous and Powerful monarchs across the ages. A rather stern looking woman awaited us behind the main work desk. "Your request Sirs?" Darwin reached into his shirt, pulling out a small medal. "Ah, yes, please follow me, is the young man also coming with you?" He nodded, "As you wish, please follow me." She walked forward, her dress swaying lightly behind her. "Well, if were going to find out some answers, this is definitely the place, keep quiet, your one of the few who have ever entered this area." We were led behind the main desk, down a darkened hall lit by torch light, a pair of heavily armed guards stood guards, wielding everything from spears to daggers, short swords to bastard swords. They had eyes deep and dark, as we approached they gained life, barring our path. "None shall pass without permision" they said in unison. "Stand down Golems of the ninth hell" Darwin said deeply and sternly. "Yes master" they said once again in unison, pulling away their weapons and inviting us within. "What IS this place?" I asked, feeling terror rise up within me. "This, is the forbidden part of the Library, it has all the ancient tomes, studying here for even a year could unlock many mysteries of the world to your mind, from Elemental magic to Grey magic, even Necromancy books are kept here." The hall eventually lead to an old room filled with books, tangled within spider webs and candle light. "Now then, shall we?" The old dwarf said pulling out a book from the shelves.
