I havnt written it all out yet so i'm going to do this is like "installments". I must say my writting skills arnt top notch so please excuse if this gets boring or dull in some places due to my lack of vocabulary skills. If you have any tip or C+C then i'd LOVE to hear it. Now lets get started then
Zelda - The Final Legend
This is the tale of a kingdom long since lost, but a legend that will never fade. With lush green fields, sunny skys and bountiful trees, it was home to many manners of creatures that lived in the water, the rocks and even the sky itself. Its name was Hyrule. A great treasure lay secret in this land, a gift from the gods themselves. This golden relic held not only the power to bring life to the land, but also to take it away.
One man saught to destroy the peace that had been held for many years, and he suceeded. With evil in his heart and hoards of creatures at his command, he conquered hyrule searching for the sacred gift of the gods, the triforce. With its power this simple desert theif became known far and wide as the dark king, Ganondorf. When all hope seemed gone, fate chose a young boy of the forest to end his reign. This boy traveled far, from the great lake of the south to the desert of the west and even through time itself. This young boy, weilding a mysterious blade scaled mountains and plundered the deepest depths of the land, vanquishing the most horrid of foes to free its people from evils grasp. Blest by the gods himself, he sealed away the dark king and was forever known as the hero of time. With peace restored and the kingdom recovering from ruin, the hero vanished from the world. No one truely knows what became of him, some say he died, some speak of sightings over time and others wonder if he really was just a legend. One thing was for sure, his work wasn't finished and the kingdom cried for him once again.
Eons passed and his tale became not but an echo. The kingdom of hyrule now lies at the bottom of the large expance of the sea, few remain who even know its name. The seal that held the dark king broke and his evil attack began once again over the waves of the sea just like before. With the great hero lost in the wispers of time, fate choose another to carry on his legacy. A small 10 year old boy called Link. His home was a quiet little island at the edge of the sea called Outset, yet even here wasnt safe from the evil kings reach. Aryll, his 8 year old sister was taken by a monsterous bird. The hero within Link awoke and he set out across the sea to rescue his dear sister. With a trusty red boat and the gift of a strange silver baton, he took control of the wind itself. The legendary blade of the ancient hero once again surfaced and found a new master in link. Blade in hand, Link challenged the dark king and sealed him in stone, body and soul. After his work was done, he returned home to Outset with the name hero of the winds. Light now shone upon the sea once more, that is untill one day.
Chapter 1 - The Storm
The sun is beating on the sands of the shore line, a light wind blowing gently through the trees, another perfect day on the island of Outset. It has been 2 years since the battle with Ganon and the sea once again has calm and peaceful waters. To this day, Hyrule still lies buried deep in the depths of the sea bed. The body of the dark king Ganon stands on the ruins of his tower, still with the blade of evil's bane in his skull. After the battle, Link and the pirate leader Tetra stumbled across an ancient sanctum where he locked up the windwaker, never to be misused. Link is now in his 12th year and his connection to the wind has grown alot in that time. Although without the windwaker, he can still generate currents and command them. Often he would call up a gust to throw items and play with his little sister. Aryll has grown quite a bit too but she still loves the sea as much as she ever has and loves to sail out with Link.
"Link... Link!". Aryll and Link are playing hide and seek, he has become very good at it and is always up for a bit of mischief. Peeking out from the top of a tree, Link was just waiting for her to come nearby.
"Now where can he be? I've look everywh- Woah!". A small cyclone suddenly whipped up around her feet, lifting her up a bit and dropping her back down. Struggling to stop himself from laughing, Link dropped out of his tree and ran towards the path on the back end of the island that lead to the top of the cliff.
"Thats cheating!", Aryll said as she was getting back on her feet. Looking around again she spotted link running up cliff path and made pursuit.
Link pelted it across the bridge at the top of the island and into the fairy woods. He knew aryll wouldn't be far behind so he climbed up another tree, back into hiding.
"He's gotta be round here somewhere, i just saw him". She came closer to his tree but walked right past, not seeing him peeking out the leaves. With an air of satisfaction, he jumped down after a while to make sure she didn't get lost or hurt. Thats when it happened and a strange feeling came over him. An eerie wind blew through the forest shaking the leaves, it carried a strange sound that gave him chills. A raspy voice, speaking some kind of strange language that he couldn't understand. Looking around for where the voice was coming from, he grew more and more cold just hearing it. A breif rumble of thunder and all went silent again.
"That was weird", still searching for anything that could of made that sound he cautiously continued his search for Aryll. Returning back to the forests entrance he was about to see if she had gone home when something jumped and tackled him to the ground.
"Got you!". Looking over his shoulder he saw Aryll giggling away, it was a relief to see she was ok. Heading back down the cliff path a thought accured to Link.
"Aryll, did you hear that strange noise just before?"
"That voice back in the forest". She simply blinked back with a confused look on her face, clearly she didnt hear anything.
"Are you feeling ok?"
"Nevermind, lets head home, its getting dark".
That night Link had a dream of the most terrible sort. Infront of him was an island being torn apart by a vicious storm, the likes of which he's never seen. He could see flashes of people running, houses burning, a chilling cruel laugh ringing through the air. A loud thunderous blast shot through the sky throwing a man into a nearby wall right infront of Link's eyes. He tried to run over to the man but it was as if he couldnt move a muscle. The man stood up, gasping desperatly for air and clutching his arm, he was badly hurt. The ground started to crack apart and the look of pure fear shone in the man's eyes. Another crash of thunder followed by a burst of lightning and a deafening scream, the man was gone and the wall that was behind him reduced to smoking rubble. There was nothing Link could do, though he could see all these people suffering and being attacked but he couldn't move to help them, try as hard as he did. Just as he felt like breaking down and screaming himself, the land turned to the sea, echoing with the same voice as the one in the forest. The waves where rough, the wind was howling and the thunder was deafening. What looked like a vortex opened up on the waters surface, a hole that lead deep into the sea with a figure of a man rising from it. It raised it's hand slowly, the skies growing darker and the storm more intence as he did. The moment it's hand opened, an explosion of darkness filled the sky and tore apart the sea. The darkness was flowing from this figure, lightning as black as night shooting in every direction. Link had never been more terrified than he is right now, yet still he couldn't move. The figure then opened its eyes and looked right at Link. He felt his heart stop looking at them eyes, as if looking into them struck him inside. That chilling laugh was all to be heard as one final bolt struck him in his chest, releasing him from this horrible nightmare.
Link screamed as he jolted awake, almost choking on his own breath. There was a cold sweat running down his face and he was trembling with fear, never before has he seen or felt anything like that before. He got up out of bed gasping for air, a surge of pain crippling his body as he did.
"So, its begun". There was someone looking at link from a tree outside his window.
"Link...", he heard this voice but couldnt think straight. Clambering to the window, he looked out to where he thought he heard the voice, there was nothing there, just an ordinary still and calm night.
"W-what j-just...". Link was still unable to think after that dream and still visably shaking. He simply sat back down on his bed but didn't sleep again that night.
Chapter 2 - A Hero's Call
Dawn broke on the horrizon, skies clear with promise of another beautiful day. As Aryll woke up, she saw Link sitting on his bed staring out the window.
"Link, are you ok?"
"Huh.. Oh yeah, i'm fine". Truth be told he wasn't fine at all. He never got much sleep and was still thinkng about the nightmare he had last night, it wasn't like any he's ever had before. Not really wanting to talk about it, he went outside to sit on a rock and think.
"What am i doing, what's happening, what on earth was that last night?". The images he saw where still burned in the back of his mind. Was that just a dream, was his imagination even capable of conjuring such a terrifying sight. It felt so real, was it a dream?
"No, i'm letting this get the better of me! I need to keep my mind on something else. I know, Orca's always up for a fight!", with that, Link ran inside to fetch his old sword. Orca was an old man but he is still a master of sword play for outset island. It was him who taught Link how to fight 2 years ago and as his best student, he's always happy to see his former student
Link had just returned from his house after grabbing his old sword from the chest under his bed. It was the very same sword that Orca gave to Link the day he set out to save his sister with Tetra's crew, he took good care of it. Hoping to take his mind off last night, he headed out and entered the old man's house. It was an open room with all sorts of blades and equipment lining the walls from back in Orca's fishing days. After an accident a few years ago, he cant go after the big fish like sharks any more but he still gives his best catches pride of place on the wall. When Link walked through the door, the old man was cleaning his most prized possesion, his knight's crest. He put down the crimson belt when he heard the door open and looked over.
"Ahh the young Link, anything i can do for you?". His gaze looked down seeing the sword that Link was carrying and flashed a small grin.
"Ohh, up for another round are you?"
"I sure am". Link always found the thought of a good battle fun. Orca reached for a nearby spear from the wall, turned to face link and the battle began. Link was the first one to strike but was easily blocked by the old man. A couple of attacks from the side kept orca on his toes but he always kept his defences up. Link then took a few steps back and quickly jumped to the left to avoid a crushing blow from the long spear. He then ran up to the old man with a stab attack to which Orca prepared for. Diving onto the floor, he rolled right passed Orca's legs and used a parry attack from the back. The battle carried on for about an hour, niether one showing signs of giving up. He and Link have fought many times before but none of them have ever gotten hurt. Link always went easy on the old man and Orca didnt have the skill to hurt him. After a while, Orca tried a sneaky ground swipe to try and knock Link on the floor but instead Link jumped to avoid it. As he jumped back, he used this chance to kick off the wall and do an arial jump attack. Orca bearly managed to block it by holding up his spear and the 2 of them stood there trying to disarm the other. Just as Link was about to take victory, something strange happened. That voice that spoke in the odd language started to echo through the room, growing louder as if it was getting closer. Link started looking around to see where it was coming from but before he knew it, he was thrown onto the floor and his sword fell from his hands.
"Are you ok young one?". Orca was standing over Link helping him back on his feet.
"Come on, lets call it a day for now". Orca pulled out 2 stools and the 2 of them sat around the little wooden table at the back of the room. He then pulled out 2 cups and poured in a bright yellow soup Link recognised. It was his grandma's old recipe, always made him feel better after a long day.
"Well i must say, close match this time. That was a pretty nasty fall though, are you feeling alright?"
"What? Ohh yeah, i'm fine now", he took another sip of the yellow soup.
"What happened to you, i thought you had me beat. You seemed to loose focus near the end and get distracted. Is there something on your mind?"
"No, nothings wrong... D-did you hear something a couple of minutes ago?
"Hear what?". Link didnt know what to think now. Orca was in the same room as him so how could he not hear the voice?
"Never mind". With that Link finished drinking his soup and left the house.
Instead of going home, he climbed up the path to the top of the island again and sat overlooking all of Outset to think. As time passed by, he saw the small shape of Aryll running up the path
"There you are, where have you been?"
"I've just been sitting up here, why?"
"Somethings wrong isn't there". Link felt a sinking feeling when he heard these words
"W-what do you mean?"
"I heard you last night. You where tossing and turning and you woke up in a really bad state". There was no avoiding it now.
"I had a bad dream, thats all"
"Its more than just a bad dream, you've been acting strange ever since yesterday in the forest. I spoke to Orca, he said something happened to you in his house today. He said you started acting odd". Although he knew she figured out something strange was happening, he kept silent
"Well if you do want to tell me, i'll be waiting". She left and headed back down to the beach. Link sat there thinking to himself, should he tell her about the voice, about his dream? Would she understand, would anyone?
It was dark by the time link decided to go home. He had already seen everyone go indoors and the last light went out over an hour ago. As he was walking across the beach, he heard someone approch from behind him. He knew everyone was fast asleep by now so he turned sharply and called out into the night.
"Who's there?". Out of the darkness stepped the familiar small shape of Aryll.
"Link, i need your help". Something was wrong, she was different than normal. Her eyes where pure white and she spoke in a different voice. After a while, Link figured it out. This was his sister's body but it wasnt her speaking from it.
"Who are you?"
"I'm a friend"
"What have you done to her?"
"Your sister is unharmed, she meerly sleeps. I need to speak"
"What do you want?"
"A black storm has emerged from the depths of the sea". A thought suddenly jolted through Links mind, could this mean his dream?
"This is no normal storm, it has grown vast and killed many". The vision of the man from his dream vanishing in a flash of lightning came to Link's mind from hearing this.
"Many more will die and this is only the begining"
"Ok, i'll get the windwaker again and stop this thing"
"Not even the hero of the winds can tame this storm", Link's heart sank again.
"The sanctum you laid the windwaker to rest is home to many treasures throughout the ages. The gift of the winds is not enough to fight this but another treasure there can". Aryll then closed her eyes and slowly fell to the floor. Link ran up to her, she was fast asleep and seemed perfectly normal now. He didnt know what just happened but whatever spoke through her knew exactly what was on his mind. There wasnt anything he could do right now so he picked up his sleeping sister and headed home.
Chapter 3 - Setting Sail
Dawn broke once again on the shores of Outset and with it, the start of a new journey. Aryll woke up early today and looked over to see if Link was asleep, only to find he was already up and gone. She jumped out of bed and went outside to see where he went. Link was sitting on the beach with a large wooden chest open infront of him filled with all sorts of stuff from his previous quest. After he returned back from defeating gannon, he put all his equipment and items into the chest and left it under his bed for safe keeping but after yesterday, it looked like he needed them once more. The first thing he pulled out was a large wooden shield that served him well all them years ago. It was actually a shield that was passed down through his family untill he was presented it by his grandma. Next object was a small wooden compass that he used every time he went out to sea. One half had a compass needle and the other, a clock which showed the time by how much day or night was shown. Right now, being early in the morning, it was still showing up half night time. Just as he closed it up and put it in his pocket, he heard Aryll running towards him.
"There you are, what are you doing up so early?", then she saw that he was wearing his adventure gear. His green shirt and long hat aswell as his sword on his back.
"Your not going are you?"
"I have to, something's wrong"
"Can i come with you?"
"Sorry, not this time, its far too dangerous". Finally desiding she deserved to know what was happening, he then went on to explain everything that happened in the past 2 days. After he finished telling her about his dream and the voices, and how she was controlled in her sleep, she looked shocked.
"I dont understand, i dont remember going out last night"
"I really dont know whats happening myself, all i know is i have to go out there and do something"
"Is that why you've been acting weird lately? Where are you going?". He then delved into the chest again and pulled out a large blue chart which he opened out on the beach floor, it was a map of the whole sea which he made during his last adventure. It had many islands drawn, some of which he had taken aryll to. Amongst the many markings was a small silver spiral just over a tiny island at the edge of the sea.
"Here shows where me and Tetra kept the windwaker when we returned. I need to go back there first and get it back again"
"Can i atleast help you pack?". Honestly he was grateful for the company so he smiled has they both started picking items from the chest to take. A bow and quiver was next to come out, followed by a bright yellow boomerang and a small red telescope. This telescope was something Link held very dear to him. It was given to him by Aryll 2 years ago when his adventure first began and he has kept hold of it ever since. Rooting through the chest further he pulled out a couple of red charts, a purple one bearing the symbol of the triforce and a worn out chart with a skull drawn on it.
"Tetra told me about that one, is there really such a thing as a ghost ship". Link couldn't help but giggle at this, though admittedly he didn't want to bump into that acursed ship ever again if he could help it. He then pulled out a small bag filled with rupees, the spoils of his previous quest. Knowing he'll need this he hooked it onto his belt along with another bag filled with small blue bombs, strapped the quiver onto his back and the large shield followed. The 2 of them then walked over to the shore where a familiar red boat was tied up. Just to make sure he didn't forget anything he quickly looked through the chest one last time. After going through countless maps and bottles, something caught his eye. It was a small necklace with a bright blue jewel which Tetra had given him. Looking over, he noticed the sad look on Aryll's face, she was already missing him.
"Here, take this". He went up to her and put the necklace around her neck.
"Something to remember me by"
"Atleast i'm here to say goodbye this time, come back soon big brother". He gave her a quick hug and tossed all his equipment into his boat.
"When granny wakes up, say goodbye from me". Everything ready, he jumped into the boat and set out into the rising sun.
With outset far from sight, Link pulled out his sea chart and made course towards the island marked with the silver spiral. About to sit back and relax, something caught his eye off in the distance. Dark clouds where peering over the horrizon and he got a sinking feeling that they weren't just bad whether. He quickly took out the telescope to take a closer look at them, they were far away from where he was headed, surely he could just steer around them. Feeling reasonably safe, he sat back and began to remenis. The memories of when he first found this island started filling his mind, soon after he and Tetra escaped from the flooding tower on the sea floor. They had just returned Aryll to outset island when both he and the pirate crew set out to fix the damage caused by Ganon's plan. The ship was filled with people rescued from his fortress and after seeing that they got home, both Link and Tetra turned their attention to the forsaken fortress itself. He could still remember the bomb fire they unleashed upon its walls before they finally broke through. After the pirates raided the stronghold of all it was worth, they sailed off again when they found it. It seemed to appear out of nowhere, a tiny island that none of them had ever seen and wasn't charted on any map. It wasnt untill they entered the lone cave on the island that they discovered its true nature. It was a temple of some sorts from ages past, must of been there for centuries, a place they came to call the sanctum. It was here where Link placed his gift from the king of Hyrule, the treasure of the winds, untill its needed again. Tetra made her crew swear never to harm or loot this island, after much objection and confusion they eventually agreed, she and Link went their seperate ways soon after. Tetra and the pirates took over the forsaken fortress, turned it into their own personal treasure hole. Link however returned to Outset and untill now, hasnt yet embarked on another full quest.
Then something pulled Link out of his remenising, the wind had picked up dramatically. The waves had started to rise and the sky was darker than it should be. Link jumped up to his feet and pulled out his map, he was nowhere near where he was meant to be, what on earth was going on. He started fighting with the sail trying to get back on course when he saw what had pulled him so far away. The black storm was bearing directly over him, somehow it had caught up with him without him noticing. The clash of thunder began to rumble around the boat as lighting started to strike the sea, there was no way out now. He drew his sword ready to fight, though no entierly sure what to expect. A flash of light blinded him as a lighting bolt tore his ship apart and threw him overboard. Struggling to find air in the relentless waves, he desperatly looked around for anything to cling onto. There was no rocks, no islands, not even wreckage of his ship to hold. He started to feel faint, as he looked up into the clouds and saw it coming, one final lighting bolt heading straight for him. Knowing he couldn't escape, it was as if time went slower. He closed his eyes bracing for it, letting out a small tear then all went black and silent.
Chapter 4 - A Link to the Past
"Link... Link wake up... LINK!". Slowly he opened his eyes, groaning as he tried to get back on his feet. Collapsing onto the floor again he started coughing up water, it felt like he had just drowned.
"Wh- where am i, how did...", then he remembered. Link started patting his body and face checking if this was real. "I- I'm alive? But how, didn't i...". The last thing he remembered was drowning in the sea expecting to be killed but it seems he washed up ashore somewhere, alive. Not wishing to question a miracle, he jumped up onto his feet when something accured to him, who woke him up? Looking around there didnt seem to be anyone in sight, though something about this place seemed familiar to him. "It cant be...", there wasn't much too see exept for a cave entrance leading downwards, he was on the sanctum's island.
Link still couldn't understand how he was still alive, much less somehow washed up on the very island he was trying to reach. Either way he had a job to do and didn't have time to waste so he headed into the cave. There's not much of the island above the surface because most of it is under the sea level where no one can see it. Deeper and deeper into the depths the passageway went untill it finally opened out into the main chamber. A large open room with a high arched ceiling, lit up by torches that seem to never go out. There where multiple floors to this room with bridges spacing across the gap in the center. The walls seemed to be made from some kind of blue stone, large red carpets lay across the floor and on the far end of the room was a pool of water with 2 small trees overhanging behind it and vines growing on the walls around it. What was truely perculiar about this place though was lined along the walls where statues of different people he had never seen before, though he guessed they where important. Walking to one end of the room he stood infront of a statue of the king of Hyrule, who had once been the spirit of his beloved boat the red lion. Link stood there for a minute remembering how the last time he nearly drowned it was him who pulled him to safety. Then he turned his attention to the dip in the wall behind the statue with a small spiral etched into the stone. He placed his hand on the wall and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. Remembering the feeling of riding out at sea with the wind rushing around him, he let himself become emersed in the feeling. Gradually a small cyclone began forming around his hand untill he opened his eyes. The moment his gaze met the stone, a great gust of wind blew against it. Harder and harder it struck the wall untill the wall itself seemed to melt into the air, revealing a new tunnel leading further in which he entered.
The new tunnel was long but eventually opened out into another chamber, not very big but round in shape. In the center was a pool of glistening water with a silver rim and rising from the water was a podium made of a whiter stone than that which made the walls of this place. Link reached out and grabbed the perculiar silver baton from ontop it, the windwaker. Feeling its power flow through him once more, he knew he could finally fight back against this evil. As he returned to the main chamber he was stopped by a voice that echoed through the room.
"You came". He was about to reach for his sword when he recognised the voice, it was the same one Aryll spoke with the previous night, yet there was no one else in the room.
"Where are you?". A patch of wall on the other side of the room began to give off a blue light. Link ran over to inspect this glowing patch, he could hear some kind of strange humming coming from it. He was about to check it closer when an incredible surge of energy threw him back. What looked like a river of blue light or fire suddenly starting bursting upwards from under the wall. Slowly the stream of flowing blue light grew thinner and thinner untill it vanished, as had the wall that was once there. Link was quaking slightly from what he just saw, he'd never seen a spectical quite like that before. Causously he rose to his feet again and taintivly made his way into the new tunnel that lay before him.
It was just as long as the tunnel Link himself had created, he wondered what awaited him on the other side, part of him feared the answer because of what he's seen so far. That strange humming sound could be heard again but as he got closer he realised it was some kind of music which grew louder the further he went. Eventually it opened out into another small room with a podium, the music sounded like it was coming from the whole room itself.
"Welcome Link, i've been waiting for you". It was that voice again but it was so close this time it sounded like it was right next to him.
"Who are you?". The room filled with energy as streams of blue light much like he saw before began rising up from under the podium. Though he should of been afraid, Link was filled with a feeling of warmth in an otherwise cold room. Inside the stream of light, the shape of a person began to appear untill the light calmed and faded leaving a man sitting on the podium playing a silvery blue instrument, the music Link had heard was coming from him all the long. The mysterious man brought his song to an end and smiled at the young hero.
"Link, we finally meet". This man was about 17 years old with deep blue eyes and golden hair. He wore a deep green tunic with chain mail underneath, along with thick brown gauntlets and boots and a large metal shield on his back. The sight of him made Link take a step back, the resemblence between them was unreal.
"Wh- Who are you?"
"My name is Sir Link", Link was shocked. How could he have the same name as him, maybe its his future self or something? "I used to be a knight of Hyrule before it was flooded, helped save it from the clutches of Ganon before you"
"Ganon? A knight of Hy-", then it hit him making his heart skip a beat. "I-It cant be... Your HIM? Your the hero of time?". The man laughed slightly, almost like he was expecting Link's reaction.
"Hero of time, its been a while since i've heard that name before. Yes, that is me". Link couldn't believe what he was seeing, the legendary hero of old standing right infront of him.
"I guess that explains the name, grandma said i was named after the hero of time. But... How is this possible, how are you here?". The man simply held out the instrument he was playing earlier.
"This is the ocarina of time. Its an ancient treasure of the Hyrule royal family, entrusted to me by an old friend. Amongst many things it grants the user control over the flow of time itself"
"So the stories are true then, you really can travel through time?". He laughed again, almost amused at Link's reactions
"Yes and it is because of this i am here right now, which brings me to why i called you here. You probably know by now the black storm that now rages on the sea is no ordinary storm, it started back in my time and seems to have risen again somehow here. We're not really sure what it is but its something neither me nor the waker of the winds has the power to stop. However if we combine our powers and work together, we may have a chance". Link was frozen to the spot, the greatest hero in all of history was asking to work with him, this had to be a dream.
"Hey kid", Link snapped back into focus, the older man already making his way back down the passageway. "You coming or you going to stand there forever?". The hero clearly still amused at Link's reactions.
Link still couldn't believe who he was walking with and was surprised at what he was really like. He grew up on the stories about how the great hero slayed dragons and monsters, how whole armies of creatures ran at the sight of him, yet he was kind and gentle. He could of stood there admiring him for years but he needed to break the silence.
"So... what exactly is this place?"
"Huh? Well throughout history extremely powerful objects have come into existence. Normally these relics would be held by a keeper or gaurdian but over time it became apparent that their powers could still fall into the wrong hands. That's where this place comes in, i was shown here by the royal family once as one of their greatest kept secrets. To prevent any powerful objects from falling into the wrong hands, their keepers would lock them up in here where they would be safe forever more. Much like you did with the windwaker you hold"
"So there are more items like these, could we use them too?". The hero laughed again as they finally returned to the main chamber.
"Yes there are lots more of these powerful relics. Behind each of these statues lies the entrance to another chamber but only those who the chamber was created for can open them. Some of the items here are very dangerous too, for them this place isn't a safehold, it's a prison. I myself have locked up my fair share of treasures here but we already have all we need". Link took a closer look at some of the statues around the room. There was one of a woman holding a harp, another woman holding a scepter who appeared to be dancing, even one of an old guy with a staff shaped like a bird's head. He kept looking around untill one statue inparticular caught his eye.
"Hey this one kinda looks like you!". The hero walked up to to see what he was looking at and his heart sank when he saw which statue it was. Indeed it did look like him but it was slightly different. The eyes seemed cold and lifeless even for a statue, there was strange marks on the face and it appeared to be holding an odd helix shaped sword.
"Do you know whats behind this one?". Link looked over and saw the fear in the older man's eyes, his hands were shaking.
"Yes i do. It's something i should never have touched. Lets get out of here". Not wishing to pry any further, they both headed up the stairs back towards the surface.
Chapter 5 - Time for Battle
"Finally we're out", Link and the older hero had just returned to the surface of the island, "Now we just have to hop aboard... Ohh no", he stopped in his tracks realising something.
"I just remembered, my boat, its gone"
"On my way here, the storm caught up with me and my boat was torn to pieces"
"Hold on, if you where caught by that storm and your boat was destroyed, how did you survive?"
"I'm not sure. Last thing i remember was drowning in the sea, then the next thing i knew i woke up ashore here. You mean you didn't save me?"
"No, i was sealed inside that chamber all this time. The most i could do was send out a message and speak through your sister". Something was certainly odd, there was no way Link could of survived that all by himself. "Either way this poses a problem for us, without a boat there's no way off this island"
"Perhaps i can help". Another voice spoke out to the two heroes yet no one else could be seen. An ominous wind stirred up as wisps of purple aura began rising out of the water near the shore line. The two Links ran over and watched in amazment as broken chunks of wood began shooting out from below the surface and the wisps of fiery purple energy knitted them back together. Eventually the air calmed down again leaving link's red boat floating on the water fully repaired. Link couldn't beleive his eyes.
"How... did you?", he turned to the older man.
"No, i cant do anything like this"
"This was my doing", the third mysterious voice spoke again.
"Who are you", Link called out as he drew his sword.
"Who i am isn't important right now, all that matters is your boat has been restored"
"Link, i dont know who our mystery friend is but it looks like he's on our side. We've got a job to do so lets ask questions later". He withdrew his sword knowing Sir Link was right. The two of them jumped into the newly reformed boat and cast off.
"So how do we go about finding the storm", Link had his telescope out scanning the horizon looking for signs of dark clouds.
"I dont imagine it'll be too hard, lets let it find us". The two of them started talking about their family and friends when some perculiar chunks of rock sticking out the sea caught their attention. Something about them looked familiar, then link remembered where he had seen that torn up island before.
"It really did happen didn't it, it wasn't just a dream afterall". There had been something on Link's mind that bothered him, something he always wondered. "Can i ask you something"
"Sure, what is it"
"In all the old stories about you, they said you vanished. Everyone thinks you ran away from the world or died, what happened to you?"
"I guess an explanation is in order. After i defeated Ganon ontop of the ruins of his castle, the princess and the 6 sages used their power to seal him away in a dark realm prison. The world was saved but it was a world i didn't belong in for i had used the ocarina of time to skip 7 years into the future, this world being your past. The princess used the ocarina to return me to my own time, back to a world where nothing had happened yet and Ganon was still alive. I warned the royal family of his plans and we captured him before his desires came to pass. For his crimes he was sent into the desert prison to be executed. The royal family honored me asking for me to stay in Hyrule castle but i couldn't take the offer just yet. Soon after i had returned to my own time, my partner fairy had gone missing. Sure she may have been a bit irritating at times but she was a dear friend, i had to go search for her. My search took me to another continant just to the west of Hyrule which was on the brink of disaster. Some crazy imp was using a dark creature's power to pull the moon itself into the earth. I had to learn better control over my abilities of time travel to defeat him, reliving the same 3 days repeatedly. After i was done there i searched again for over a year but never could find her. In the end i returned to Hyrule castle and became a knight and a very dear friend of the royal family. After a few years i started having terrible dreams about the castle being under seige. Some hylians have the ability to dream about upcoming danger, much like the dreams you've been having. What was odd though was these where dreams about the Hyrule of the future i had returned from. I knew i had to do something so i drew the master sword one more time and returned to the future i had left. By the time i had reached the castle there, it was already too late. The skies where black with storm clouds and the castle was overrun by an army of creatures. I found the princess of that time who regonised me and introduced me to an old friend of yours."
"An old friend of mine?"
"Yes, the king of Hyrule. Whatever was calling these creatures was immencly powerful, more so than anything either of us have ever seen. It was too late to save the kingdom so together we formed a plan to start anew. With the master sword i sealed off the overrun castle, freezing it in time itself. It became apparent that the creatures where searching for the pieces of the triforce me and Zelda held. So to prevent them falling into the hands of whoever caused all this, we had used the master sword to split our pieces and hid the shards all around the world. Then came the king's part of the plan, you see he was the keeper of the windwaker before you. With its power he opened up the heavens and caused a rainfall which flooded the land, not before sending word out for whatever survivers of the cataclysm to take refuge in the mountain tops"
"So that's what happened, it was the king who flooded the land and created the sea?"
"We took refuge in the sanctum from the flood, the king hid himself from the world by becoming the spirit of the red lion your boat and i drifted through time to reawaken should the storm ever arise again. Our plan had suceeded however what he hadn't anticipated was by splitting our triforce pieces, this had weakened the seal that held Ganon enough for him to escape. The rest is where you took over, great job on defeating him by the way."
"Wow, thats quite a story", after hearing the whole tale Link was even more amazed at who he was sitting with. "Wheren't you worried if someone else might of found the shards of the triforce?". The older hero smiled.
"Not really, peices of the triforce have a funny way of finding themselves with just the right person. Some say they go to those who have the greatest need of their power, others think it runs in the family", Link's head shot up hearing this. If they run in the family could that mean... He just shrugged it off when he noticed his windwaker glowing slightly.
Sir Link's eyes where focused on something on the horizon, the younger Link quickly turned his head in the same direction and saw them, the thick black clouds approching for the second time. The hero readied Link's bow as Link took the windwaker to hand. The waves grew and the wind howled once more, but Link was ready this time. Whipping the windwaker a bit the waters and wind calmed while the sky darkened still. Thunder crashed as the lightning fell, something was different this time though. Link turned and saw the hero with his eyes closed, playing an eerie song on the silvery ocarina he held. The calming sound echoed far and wide across the sea and it felt like time itself was slowing down, lightning drew closer but he could see it coming much faster than before. The hero drew the bow as the arrow tip radiated small spark, he aimed towards the sky and fired. When he let go, the arrow burst into intence flames and shot off like cannon fire. Blazing through the wind it struck the black bolt in midair, exploding so loud Link wouldn't be surprized if he could hear it back on Outset. He turned to the archer astounded at the sight while the hero himself simply smirked at the feat.
"Woah, that was..."
"I thought i'd give us a fighting chance", he said. The smile finally returned to Link's face, they actually had a shot at winning! More lightning came but 3 more arrows where shot, 2 blasting the bolts apart whilst the other flew into the distance bursting into flames, lighting up the sky and revealing what was hiding in the darkness. Thick black clouds where billowing from the sea, swirling around like a hurricane.
"You see that in the distance, you got to take it out, i'll clear the way". Link nodded and focussed on the windwaker. With a sweeping motion, as if he was scooping the wind itself he built up a strong blast of air, holding it for the right moment. With another crash of lightning link saw something else in the eye of the storm, giant clumps of rock.
"Those rocks, they're probably the remains of some of the islands it wrecked"
"It still wont be enough, just get ready". Three of the boulders where flung at the small boat but where met by 3 more of the hero's blazing arrows blasting them into dust. Link then flicked his hand forward firing the current of air like a jet stream cutting through the dust and striking the storm's eye. All to little effect, it barely parted the black clouds. Another blazing arrow was fired towards its heart but it was meerly picked up by the swirling clouds and directed back at the boat
"Woah-", with the quickest reflexes Link has ever seen, the blue eyed archer drew Link's sword from his back, turned around and swiped just in time to knock the arrow away from them.
"That was sneaky, we've got to end this quick". Just as Link was about to start up another jet stream, large amounts rocks began shooting out of the sea near the storm clouds
"Its pulling up the reefs and sea bed!"
"Link, i cant take out that many targets!". Firmly grasping the windwaker, Link did a long swift swipe, almost like drawing a line in the sea calling up a whirlwind of their own around the ship blowing back the anslaught. When the rocks cleared, another bolt of lightning was already bearing ontop of them.
"BAIL!", they both jumped out of the boat being carried higher by Link's whirlwind and watched as the bolt cut through it, blasting the boat apart again. Link watched as they began to fall expecting to fall into the sea but instead the older hero mumbled something and fired at the sea itself. The moment the arrow pierced the water, the surface froze into a thick platform of ice just in time for them to land on.
"I'm out of arrows!". Furious at seeing his prized boat destroyed again, he picked up the windwaker once more and let his anger course through it. Letting out a yell with an underarm sweep, the gale winds generated was unlike any he'd made before. The sea tore apart infront of them and the wind was so fierce it almost looked like many blades made of air. It struck the clouds at the storm's eye tearing it apart, disapating the storm completely. It was the older hero's turn to be amazed, he never thought a child could do anything like that. They looked out to the sea to see what was left, there was a dark figure in the distance hovering just above what appeared to be a deep whirlpool. It lifted up its hand revealing it seemed to be holding something. Many bolts of black lightning shot from this new enemy directed at the younger of the two.
"Link RUN!". Instead he let them come towards him, swung the windwaker and seemingly caught all the bolts on the tip of silver stick. Wide eye'd, the elder watched as Link turned and threw the lightning back at the figure, striking him dead on.
The dark figure screamed as the lightning tore through its body untill it eventually fell into the hole in the middle of the raging waters beneath him. The two in green ran over the ice to take a closer look when a huge black claw-like shape made from a shadowy aura erupted from the hole and grabbed the hero of time. He threw Link the ocarina before he was pulled under shortly before Link jumped in after him. Falling faster and faster, deeper into the crushing depths he lost consciousness before he reached the bottom.
Chapter 6 - The Ruined Tower
"Urgh...", regaining consciousness Link slowly tried to get up. "Where am i now", clutching his head he looked around, he was in the middle of what looked like a complete wasteland. There where mountains in all directions and the ruins of a castle in the distance.
"Hyrule? I thought we buried this place". True enough he was at the bottom of the ocean but the water wouldn't touch the field he stood in. He looked up and saw not the sky but the sea, almost waiting to crash on top of him. Looking around he couldn't see any sign of the elder hero, nor any life for that matter. "Is anyone there!"
"Quiet, you want to attract unwanted attention?". Yet again he searched in vain for the source of this voice.
"Where are you, what happened to-"
"I said quiet, it's not safe out in the open. Head towards the castle quick". Link about to move when the ground infront of him cracked apart, erupting with the same shadowy aura that grabbed the hero of time. A large black bear like creature with huge claws formed from this dark energy and pounced at Link. He draw his sword but was struck by the creature and thrown onto his back, his sword landing a little bit away. Link stood up to face this foe but his legs gave way as a searing pain ripped through his body. Looking down he saw the creature must have caught him with its claws as a large gash was visable on his torso. Clutching himself he shuffled backwards trying to get away but the creature jumped at him again. He threw his arms up as an attempt to defend himself but the expected attack never came. Carefully he looked up and saw the creature covered with the same wisps of fiery purple aura he saw back on the sanctum island, almost tying the creature up as it tried to fight them off.
"Run!". Not wanting to question the one saving his life, Link tried to get up. His body still painful, he limped over to his discarded sword and made a run for it towards the castle remains. When he reached a rocky outcrop near the entrance he rested against it trying to regain his breath. A faint rumbling in the ground caused Link to look back down the field he just ran across. Purple flames erupted from the area he just left followed by a the sound of a distant roar, all that was left when the flames died down was a small wisp of smoke.
"He must of beat it, really hope he's on our side. GAH-", he clutched his chest again, "Got to keep moving".
Finally he reached the familiar walls of hyrule castle, only they where more in ruins than the last time he visited in his previous adventure, as was most of the land now. When he entered, he collapsed from exaustion against one of the walls.
"Urgh, i got to keep going but i'm not much use in this state"
"You made it then", the voice finally caught Link's full attention.
"Alright just who are you? Show yourself!". A light breeze blew through the hall, the purple wisps that appeared yet again began to gather together. The shape of another person formed as if it just faded into existance through the smoke. The air around him cleared and the face of his mysterious helper was revealed. It was a boy, slightly older than Link, wearing a long brown travelling cloak with black clothes underneath. He pulled back his hood revealing his brown hair and most shockingly of all, deep piercing crimson eyes.
"Who ar- AGH", Link clutched his chest again.
"Take this", the mysterious boy reached into his cloak and pulled out a small bottle with a red liquid inside it. Link took the bottle and drank it quickly. Warmth spread across the blood stained area and he watched as his wound seemed to knit itself back together. "There, all better now?"
"Yeah, thanks. Who are you?"
"My name is Raven, i'm one of the last of the shiekah race"
"Yes, i've been following you for some time in hiding. I would of shown myself earlier but i didn't want the enemy to see me too soon, though i did have to step in to pull you out of the storm when you went overboard"
"That was you?"
"I knew you where going to meet up with hero of time so i had to make sure you made it there alive"
"Wait, what happened to him?"
"He was taken, i'm not sure where to or what's going to happen to him". Link's heart sank at this news, the man who he grew up hearing about, taken by some foul creature for who knows what. "It was pretty smart of him to throw you the ocarina before it took him, if the wrong people got their hands on that it could spell disaster". Link looked at the silvery instrument and sighed.
"Why are you here?"
"I've been investigating this evil since before the hero of time knew about it. He passed through my home village in the Ikana canyons a long time ago, soon after he left there was a great surge of dark energy in the world. I searched for the cause of the disturbance but all i could find out was something surfaced in the underworld and escaped into the land. I never could find where it vanished to but i started hearing rumors that the hero of time was having dreams about it, so i followed him through the passage of time and here i am"
"So your on our side then?", just as Link asked, flashes of lightning began falling in the distance outside.
"No time right now, its waking up. Listen to me, the creature responsible for this took refuge at the top of the tower behind his castle after it fell"
"You mean Ganon's old tower?"
"Yes, you hurt it pretty badly up on the surface but its starting to recover. You need to go up there and finish the job"
"Wait, arn't you coming with me?"
"I'll be watching your back but right now that creature doesn't know that i'm here". Raven's body started melting away into thin air much in the same way as he appeared, "And untill i know exactly what we're dealing with i'd prefer to remain un-noticed". The other boy completely vanished, leaving Link alone in the ruined castle. He stood up and headed towards to the back exit of the castle, leading to the ominous sight of the large tower where he had previously slain Ganon.
The climb up the ruined tower was long and arduous, but nothing Link couldn't handle. Broken and rusty weapons and armor of all kinds littered the stairs from the countless creatures he slain the previous time he ascended this route. As the final exit came in sight, Link took out his sword and shield and ventured through to the top of the tower. The wind from this height was strong but from here Link had a full view of what was left of Hyrule, nothing but crumbling stone and desolate wasteland. Slowly he made his way to the center of the tower roof where still standing was the stone remains of Ganon, still with the blade of evil's bane through it's head.
"Look at you, even you never caused this much trouble". Link stood looking at the statue when he heard something approch him from behind, spinning around quickly he finally came face to face with cause of this mess. It was a man, much older than link with long tattered black hair which covered most of his face.
"So your behind all of this, who are you!", the man didn't reply, he simply kept approching. "Not much of a talker are you". Something was odd about this man, he walked in a very strange way, almost hunched over with his arms hanging down. Regardless, Link dashed forwards only to be thrown backwards by a wall of force which shot out from the guy. He looked up and saw that the man was now covered in the strange black aura he witnessed before, as if it was pouring out of him. Link tried to jump back up but something suddenly wrapped itself around him, looking down he saw it was a black snake similar to the creature that attacked him in the field. Tighter it squeezed untill Link started feeling faint. Using all the strength he could muster, he tugged against the sword wedged between him and snake, slicing clean through it. Back on his feet he ran at the approching figure as another snake jumped out of the black arua surrounding him. Knocking this one away with his shield he ran right up to the man and plunged his sword straight through him. Something was off though, the attack didn't seem to phase the man at all. Link looked up and got a closer look at his foe, his skin was cold and grey and his eyes where worn out and lifeless. Pulling the sword out and jumping back, Link made a chilling discovery.
"It cant be... He's already dead". The walking corpse approched once more, sparks of lightning starting to wrap themselves around it. Getting ready for it to attack, he didn't notice the snake he knocked away earlier attack him from the side. It bit into the blade of his sword and started squeezing his arm. Flailing around trying to throw it off, he looked up just in time to jump out the way of a bolt of lighting which shot from the man, through the floor and all the way through the tower walls beneath. The force of the blast knocked the snake off Link's arm but also knocked the sword out of his hands and over the side of the tower. He was now defencless and needed another weapon quickly. Looking around he noticed once again the statue of Ganon behind the man, the blade in its skull would be perfect for fighting evil. Quickly he ran past the walking corpse, narrowly dodging another bolt of lightning and swung onto the statues back. With both hands around the hilt, he pulled out the sacred blade. Reunited with the legendary master sword, Link jumped from the statue's head to try an arial attack only for the man to grab him by the neck in mid air before it hit. For a walking corpse it had a strong grip as it slowly choked the young hero. Link started panicking and began swinging the blade aimlessly, catching the man across the chest causing him to drop link and stumble backwards.
"You dont like this sword, do you. The blade no evil can touch, makes sence it can hurt you where my other one couldn't". Finally with a plan to end this, Link held the sword out to the man pulsing with darkness and made a final dash. A lightning bolt fell from the sky and cut straight through the floor causing it to break apart. Still he ran, hopping across the crumbling stones, dove around the man and thrust his blade backwards, peircing through the other's back.
The battle was over, Link pulled his sword out of his foe and watched as he stumbled forwards, the wound smoking as if the blade had burnt him. He breathed a sign of relief when all of a sudden he heard something unusual, laughter. The walking corpse was laughing.
"Whats so funny!" he yelled, then he noticed something which made him realise what a grave mistake he had made. The statue of Ganon was begining to crack apart, Link had just removed the only thing keeping him frozen like that! Still laughing, the man turned around and thrust his hand into the air. When he opened it, an object appeared and Link finally saw the source of his power. It was a black metal triangle which looked almost like...
"A piece of the triforce...", Link became truely afraid seeing what this other man held. Dark energy filled the air and erupted into the sky with a deafening roar. Huge tremors shook the tower causing it to start breaking apart as thick black clouds circled the crumbling remains like a hurricane. Lightning started falling from the sky on a scale Link had never seen before, ripping huge fissures in the wasteland around where they stood. The rocks of the ground rose into the air and the water in the sky fell, it looked like the end of the world. Eventually the force of standing next to such incredible power became too great for Link and sent him flying over the edge.
"Link!", the familiar purple wisps surrounded Link as he fell and he felt someone pull on the back of his tunic into the black and silent.
Chapter 7 - The Final Legend
Link felt strange as he was pulled through what seemed to be a hazy purple dream like trance before he landed on the floor of another place, it felt like he had just slipped out of the world for a moment.
"Are you alright?", Raven was standing over him helping him up.
"Yeah i'm fine. That's the second time you've saved me, thanks". Link took this chance to look around and see where exactly he was. To his surprize he recognised the familiar blue walls and pool of water. "The sanctum, why'd you bring us back here?"
"This place is protected against magic, besides being underwater aswell it was the only place nearby". Raven looked troubled, he sat down on the edge of the pool running his hands through his hair before he finally put his head up and looked at Link again. "You saw it didn't you, what it was holding"
"Was that really what i think is was?". The other boy sighed before he answered.
"Tell me, what do you know about the triforce?"
"Err, i know it was made by the three goddesses; Din, Farore and Nayru. When they created the world they left behind their power in the form of the triforce"
"Correct, that is the first legend. The second legend states that after it was formed it split into it's three parts; power, courage and wisdom, the three corners of the heart. These three pieces then scattered around the world and found worthy hosts to hold their power. He who brings together all three pieces again is granted any one wish, at which time the triforce will split and hide itself again"
"Yeah, i used to be the holder of the triforce of courage, but it vanished after Ganon tried to make a wish. But what does that have to do with what we saw, i've never seen a piece look like that before"
"That is where the final legend comes in, the greatest secret in all of history. After the triforce was given to the world, it became apparent that anyone could potentially claim its power and use it as either a tool for good, or for evil. It was always the goddesses plan for it to be used to maintain peace in the world, and so a final part of the triforce was created to guide the others. However the world works in balance, for every light there is a darkness and so not one, but two more pieces of the triforce came into being. One as pure as light itself and another as black as the darkest night. These two pieces hid themselves from the world itself, radiating their influence to the people and so the eternal battle between good and evil was born". Link was astonished, he had never heard of this part of the story before.
"So there are two more pieces to the triforce?"
"Yes, but only one can be used to make the sacred triangle complete. If the other three gather around the white piece then light will forever shine throughout the land, evil will be no more. However should they gather around the black piece then darkness will take the world and life will cease to exist. Its just a question as to which one takes the triforce first"
"But the triforce has been brought together before, why hasn't anything like that happened yet?"
"Nobody even knew such a tale existed, neither of the two has ever been found before. Unfortunatly it looks like the triforce of darkness has found it's way to the surface after all this time". There was an agonising pause of silence between the two boys, both trying to take in the gravity of the situation. Then something from the battle stirred in Link's memories.
"There's something else, i think i made a big mistake in that fight. I never thought about it at the time but when i pulled the master sword out of Ganon's statue, i... I think i accidentally released him". Link expected Raven to freak out but he just looked at the younger boy.
"I know, infact i dont think it was an accident". Link's head shot up.
"There was something that was bothering me while you two where fighting. Up on the surface that creature showed incredible power, tearing entire islands apart and ripping the sea open. Yet during your battle all it did was fire a few lighting bolts, it didn't show that level of power again untill after you pulled the sword out". Link had noticed this too but never put much thought into why that was untill now.
"You mean... It was holding back?"
"I fear so, infact i'm starting to think that simply freeing Ganon was it's aim in the first place. Being a creature of darkness it wouldn't be able to touch the master sword so it needed to bring you down here to do it instead. That explains why it didn't get serious untill after you did so"
"But wait, i killed it didn't i?"
"Yes you did, but the triforce of darkness still exists and now with it's host dead it will search for it's next one which you just happened to have released"
"Ganon's the next host?"
"Can you think of anyone more fitting for the role?". Honestly Link couldn't, and now he was faced with the prospect of Ganon returning with a triforce even more powerful than his previous one.
"Wait a minute, what happened after the battle? It looked like the whole world started being torn apart, what's it like out there now?". Raven stood back up and walked towards Link.
"Good question, let's go find out". The two then made way towards the exit to check out what had become of the outside world.
They climbed up the staircase leading back to the surface when they spotted something new blocking their way.
"A wall? This wasn't here before was it?". Indeed there was a large stone wall now blocking the passage up the stairs. The two boys looked at eachother confused before Raven took a closer look to inspect it. There was a circle in the middle with lines reaching out to the edges of the stone blockage which was covered in ancient runes. After a minute of inspecting it he stepped back grinning, almost looking impressed.
"It's a door", Raven placed his hand on the circle causing the runes to light up one after another, like a ripple. A tear through the middle of the stone appeared as the two halves of the door receeded into the walls, revealing the blinding daylight behind it.
"Raven, why is there a door here now? I've never seen a door here before"
"That's not the only new thing", as they stepped out into the open Link saw he was right. Instead of the usual tiny deserted island, they stepped out into an enclosure at the foot of a cliff face. When they stepped forward, Link heard the door close behind them but when he looked back, there was just the cliff face.
"The entrance, its gone!". Raven inspected the wall again.
"It's alright, just an illusion. Some kind of protective spell to keep it hidden from trespassers"
"What do you mean protective spell, that's never been there before. Are you sure we're in the right place?"
"Something's certainly odd here, i definatly brought us to the same place but everything's different from before". They pushed through the overhanging vines covering the passage out of the enclosure and stunned by the sight that awaited them. Not the sea but a field of lush grass. They seemed to be on a high mountain pass overlooking a vast field bathed in sunlight with a forest in the distance, Link had never seen such a beautiful sight.
"Where are we?". Link looked at the red eye'd boy who looked just as confused.
"I dont know, but maybe... Wait!". He ran off to the other side of the path and knelt on the floor. Link followed him and saw he had his hand on some strange rock with a carving of an eye with a hole through the middle. "Gossip stone, lend me your knowledge". A strange voice started speaking as if it was echoing from inside the perculiar rock. Could these be the gossip stones he and Tetra heard about? Suddenly Raven opened his eyes looking very surprised.
"What is it?"
"It cant be". He then ran down the path to get a better look at the open field.
"Raven, what's going on?". Link ran after him and once clear of the cliff face blocking the view, saw what he was looking at. They where overlooking a huge castle with white walls and blue turrets. Surrounding the castle was a town that seemed to be busy and filled with people, all within a surrounding wall and moat.
"We're back. It's Hyrule"
"Hyrule, how can we be in Hyrule i thought this place was underwater"
"You know how me and the hero of time are from a different timestream than your's. I'm not sure why but the last attack from that creature didn't destroy the world, it brought us back to that timestream". Link was amazed at this, had he really just travelled through time? He had heard stories about how beautiful Hyrule and it's castle was but he never imagined he'd ever actually see it like this.
"Wait, if we've just travelled through time then what happened to everyone on the sea? My grandma, my sister, what's going to happen to them?"
"I'm not sure, from what i heard from the gossip stone, it's not been long since i left here so i guess your family simply hasn't happened here yet". Link started to get upset, had he just left them for good, would he ever see them again? Raven could he was getting worried so he placed his hands on Link's shoulders and looked him in the eyes, sea blue meeting blood red.
"Dont be upset, i promise after we figure this out we'll find a way to send you back but right now we need you here. Remember Ganon's still out there stronger than ever, if he succeeds then all worlds will fall, past and future"
"I- I know... Sorry. What should we do?"
"Hyrule's greatest enemy has returned, we need to warn the people. We need to go to the castle and speak with the princess". Link nodded his head, both of them heading down the path towards the town below.
Chapter 8 - Hyrule Castle
The sun had already set by the time the two boys reached the town wall gate and entered Hyrule town. Link looked around at all the buildings and stalls as he follwed Raven through the lamp lit street, though most of them were closed for the night.
"Wow, this place is huge"
"This is the market town of Hyrule, center of all trade in the land"
"It's much bigger than anywhere i've ever been before. Not even Windfall island's trading town was this big". The two stopped for a minute infront of a large fountain with a central statue of a bird spreading out it's wings, holding the triforce above it's head which Link recognised the combination as being the symbol of the hylians.
"It's the largest settlement in all of Hyrule, pretty much anything you need can be found here", Link sat on the edge of the lit up fountain. "The town is effectly in four sections with four main streets and this fountain marking the center. Right now we're in central market town where most of the shops and public events take place. To the south is the main gate we came in, theres usually a few market stalls around there during the day. Western town has all the doctors and schools and whatnot, theres another town entrance there and in the east which is mostly residential". Link wanted to look around more but there was more important matters at hand right now. "Just to the north is the castle where we need to go to". Link nodded and the two headed up the north road untill they saw the large gaurded doors of the castle entrance.
"Halt! Who goes there? You know the castle is off limits to the general public"
"What do we do now", Link wispered. "Should we try and sneak in?"
"Leave it to me". Raven turned back to the guard and looked right into his eyes. Something felt odd to Link, it was as if the other's eyes had become more focused, more piercing than before as they looked at the gaurd.
"My name is Raven. There is an important matter that needs addressing and i need an audience with the princess. Please take us to her". As he spoke these words Link noticed the guard's eyes seemed unfocused, like he was sleepy.
"Yes... this way", the guard said as he turned around to unlock the gate. Link looked back at Raven surprised at how easily they got in.
"How did... What did you do?"
"You have your skills and i have mine, theres a reason shiekah's where revered back in their time", he smirked as the doors opened. They followed the guard through the open courtyard with fountains, statues and hedges, upto the large wooden doors into the castle. The guard told them to wait in the entrance hall as he went through the doors on the other side. Link looked around looking at how grand everything was. From the large crystal chandeliers to the gold guilded objects around the walls, he had seen what was left of it from his timestream but never like this before. After a while the doors opened once more and the guard beckoned them inside the throne room.
"My lady, a mister Raven to speak with you". They walked down the large red carpet to the red and gold throne raised on a marble step. Sitting upon it was a woman with long brown hair wearing a purple and white dress with intricate gold plates and designs.
"I am Princess Zelda. What is so important that you needed to influence my guards with a spell to see me?". Both Link and Raven looked surprised that she knew so quickly they manipulated the guard. "I'm quite familiar to magic myself remember so i can see what you have done. Your a shiekah correct? Tell me have we met before, you seem familiar". Raven stepped forword.
"I'm an apprentice to master Kraden of the great library in western town. I came here for help years ago when i left my home village"
"Ahh yes, you where so lost and troubled back then. It's not often one meets a shiekah any more, that explains how you could get in here"
"Your majesty i am sorry for our means of entry but it was essential that we come see you. I bring you news concering the hero of time"
"Link? What about him?". Raven turned to Link.
"Show her". He held out the ocarina of time for the princess to see.
"Gaurds, leave us". All the soldiers left the room leaving just the three of them remaining. Zelda stood and approched the two boys, taking the ocarina and looking at it. "I had a feeling this would be about him when i saw you come in, thats the master sword you carry there isn't it?"
"Err, yes, it is"
"He's a dear friend to me and this town, he left a couple months ago on a mission. I gave him this ocarina many years ago, how it is you have both this and his sword?"
"I'm afraid he's been taken, we're not sure what's really happened to him", Raven answered.
"He threw this to me right before it happened"
"Taken? By who?"
"Its hard to explain but there's something else we needed to warn you about. We fear that the desert theif Ganondorf may have returned". Zelda looked up shocked at this.
"Ganondorf? But how, he was put to death many years ago"
"It's a long story but first i must introduce my friend here. This is... a different Link". Zelda turned to him and looked him over very confused.
"A different Link? What do you mean?"
"While he may look very similar to the one you know, he is a different person". Zelda sat back down in her throne.
"I think i need to hear the full story about what's happened". They then proceeded to recount the full tale of everything so far.
"This is unreal", Zelda said after they had finished telling her the story. "It's bad enough hearing news of Ganondorf returning but there being more pieces to the triforce, it's hard to take in"
"I know it's difficult to accept but we where both there"
"Raven, if i may ask. We in Hyrule have used and studied the triforce for many generations yet we have never heard anything like what you describe. If this is a legend that was never told to the world, how is it you know such things?". Link looked at the other boy too as he had wondered the same thing aswell.
"Because of this". Raven then removed the arm protector and cover from his left hand and held it up for the other two to see. Across the top of his hand, etched into the skin like a scar was the crest of the triforce. "I am the new holder of the triforce of wisdom, it showed me what i needed to see". Zelda looked intently at the marked hand.
"Your the holder of now? I was the previous holder of it, i'm very familiar of it's power to show people the fate of the land. And if what your saying is correct, our fate is looking grim. Can such power you describe truely exist?"
"It tore apart entire islands into chunks of rock just to lure us, cant imagine what it's full power is"
"To think, all that has to be done to plunge the world into darkness forever is find the three with the crests. And now Ganondorf has that power, what can we possibly do"
"Your majesty if i may, the fact that it is Ganondorf who now possesses the triforce of darkness may work to our advantage". Zelda looked up at Raven hearing this.
"Ganondorf's only desire has been to gather the triforce to aquire the power to attack and rule Hyrule. All he knows is he now has that power, he may not be aware of the true nature of what he possesses". Link was begining to understand what he was meaning.
"I get you, he'll just think he has something powerful, not realising what he could potentially do with it"
"That's lightened the burdern somewhat", Zelda said. "That means he'll just return to building up his old army like before. I'll order the soldiers to prepare for any possible attacks and to gather information"
"Good but there's something else thats bothering me", Raven was in deep thought. "Ganondorf knows nothing of the triforce of darkness yet some kind of puppet brought it to him and released him. If he knows nothing and was incapacitated, who was controlling the puppet? There must be someone else out there who knows about all of this. Someone who knew the location of that triforce and wanted him free, that's what's worrying me". The three of them knew this must be true, could there indeed be someone else out there? Link closed his eyes to think when suddenly he heard a bark and was knocked onto his back with something big standing over him licking his face.
"Ty, get off him!". Zelda was shouting trying to pull off the large black dog that seemed to have taken an affection to Link. Finally she pulled it off and made it sit beside the throne, Raven began chuckling to himself.
"Ohh shut up Raven, like you where any help", Link said as he wiped the dog slobber off his face.
"Link i'm so sorry about that! This is Tyrell, he was Sir Link's dog", Zelda said keeping a hold on it.
"Dog, that looks more like a wolf than a dog!"
"I'm sorry about that, he must of thought you where our Link. IMPA!", Zelda called out. A well built woman entered the room, her tied back hair was white and she wore purple clothes like she was ready for battle. Amazingly she too had red eyes like Raven's.
"You called, my lady?"
"This is Impa, she's my personal attendant. It would seem that Tyrell has intereupted our meeting but it does seem to be a good place to stop. There's nothing we can do right now so we can continue this tomorow. It's late out now so i'll offer you room to stay tonight. Impa please take Ty back to his room and Link, why dont you follow her too". Link nodded and followed the woman and the dog out.
He followed her through a series of corridors while the black dog kept nudging and nuzzling into his leg.
"He seems to like you, he's normally very cautious when it comes to new people"
"It's alright, he just took me by surprise before". Link started noticing some of the portraits and paintings hanging on the walls. He figured they must be important people from the castle but one caught his eye right away. It was the portrait of a man with very pale skin wearing purple robes. He had long white hair which covered one of his eyes leaving just the one remaining crimson eye left. These red eyes where begining to catch Link's curiosity, he had never seen people with them before.
"Here we are", Impa said as she opened a door, letting the dog rush in. "This was master Link's room, i'm sure he wouldn't mind you using it in his absence"
"Wow this is his room, are you sure it's alright me using it?". She simply nodded and allowed him to enter. The room was spacious but not too big, there was a single large bed with emerald coloured sheets and a large brown rug in the center of the floor. Across the walls where various maps and a tapestry of a three tailed fox in a forest. In the corner of the room was a mounted suit of armor more amazing than any Link had ever seen. It had shining a gold plate body with a raised spread winged bird design across the breast, gold plate gauntlets and boots and underneath was a decorated red tunic and cap much like the kind he's normally depicted with. Leaning against the armor was a sword with what looked like a gold core running down the center of the blade.
"You like it huh?". Impa said. "That's master Link's ceremonial royal armor. He was presented with it when he was named Princess Zelda's personal guard"
"He's her personal guard? I knew he was a great knight here but i didn't know he was that high up"
"Indeed, infact he would have easily became the captain of the guards if he hadn't of turned down the offer numerous times"
"What, he turned down the offers? Why?"
"He said he doesn't like being tied down like that. If he became the captain then he'd have to remain here all the time, he prefers going out on adventures more so Zelda made him her personal guard so she can send him out on missions of her own". Link was amazed how important his hero really was to the castle. Then he noticed a glass case of scrolls on the other side of the room.
"Impa, what are them?"
"Those are the tiger scrolls he collected. Link is by far the greatest swordsman this castle has ever known. During the quiet times he went out hunting for the shrine containing the scrolls detailing the greatest sword techniques of the ancient past. He's the only person i've heard of who's mastered all of them"
"Well it's late and you need your rest. I shall be outside doing the night patrol if you need anything. Good night young one"
"Thanks and good night Impa". Link started removing all the heavy gear he was wearing leaving just his undershirt and pants remaining. He tossed them to the foot of the bed when he noticed a perculiar yellow fox mask hanging off one of the bed posts. Curious, he picked it up and put it against his face. Looking into the mirror like shield hanging on the wall he took it off and looked at it.
"Weird thing", he saw it matched the fox in the tapestry. "Wonder what you are". He put it back and climbed into the large bed, followed by the dog who made itself compfy on the other side. Link turned over and noticed the picture on the table next to the bed. It was of a girl with green hair and grumpy looking blonde boy infront of a large tree. Written at the bottom where the words:
"Link, remember to visit us sometime - Saria". He put the picture back and blew out the lamp, letting himself fall into a deeply needed sleep.
Chapter 9 - Blood Soaked History of the Shiekah
Link found himself walking through the castle courtyard but something was wrong, it was empty and completely silent.
"Hello! Is anyone here?", he called out yet no answer came. The air was cold and the light dull, as if the colour had been drained from the world. As Link looked up he saw the moon shining blood red, cracked like broken glass. "What's going on here...". He walked through the empty hallway of the castle, cold and dark like everything else. There was still only silence to be heard yet Link couldn't shake the feeling something was nearby, in the corner of his eye. The floor was wet with a layer of water but how could this have happened, and where was everyone? As he looked around his eyes passed over a mirror hanging on the wall, he was about to walk past it but something about it caught his attention. Slowly he turned his head to look into it, seeing not himself looking back but more like a silhouette. The sight of the image threw him back, snapping his eyes open as he rose from his pillow. He looked around and saw he was back in the familar bedroom of the castle, with the dog still asleep on the bed.
"Just a dream, that was weird". He closed his eyes to try and fall asleep again when his mind wandered back to what he saw. The broken red moon, the dark wet hallway, his darkened reflection in the mirror and... "Red eyes", his eyes snapped open again as he remembered. Just before he woke up he saw red eyes in his reflection. He stepped out of the bed and snuck quietly out of the room trying not to wake the dog up. These eyes where begining to peak his curiocity, he'd never seen people with them before yet here he keeps seeing them. Following back through the same path he had used to find his room, he kept checking all the walls untill he found what he was looking for. It was the picture of the man in purple, whose white hair covered all but one of his eyes.
"Is there a problem young one?". Link looked around and saw Impa walking up the same hallway towards him.
"Err no nothing's wrong, just had an odd dream that's all"
"A dream? Is there something on your mind?", the two of them leant against the wall next to a window overlooking the town and field at night.
"It's nothing really. Can i ask you something, are you and Raven related? I mean you've both got those red eyes so i just wondered...", Link trailed off scared he was asking something awkward.
"It's ok. Me and Raven are both from the shiekah clan. The blood eyes are the mark of our people, every shiekah has them"
"So do you know who Raven is then? I met him only today so i dont really know much about him"
"I'm afraid i cant give many answers for that, in truth i dont know much about him myself. He suddenly appeared at the castle gates some years ago distraught and very troubled. I know his home village is in the Ikana mountain range but he left it"
"Why'd he leave?"
"No one knows. He never talked about his past, i guess something must have happened that made him run away. It was a bit of a shock to see another shiekah appear at our gates, there arn't many of us left sadly. Kraden of the great library took him in as an apprentice and helped him back on his feet, that's all i know about him i'm afraid. How about you though, the princess tells me your from another time?"
"Yeah, where i'm from Hyrule had been buried underwater for hundreds of years. I grew up on the stories of Hyrule and it's great hero. He certainly lives upto his name but he's alot different than i thought he would be", Impa began chuckling at this comment.
"He's something else isn't he. With all his achievments you'd expect him to be this great fearsome knight but he's as gental as can be and if i'm honest, a bit of a trouble maker"
"Yeah, first time he came here he snuck past all our guards to get in, he still does it sometimes", Link couldn't help but laugh a little.
"Hope he's ok, wherever he is"
"I've known him since he was your age, he's a tough guy so i'm sure he'll be fine"
Link looked back at the portrait on the wall for a bit then Impa noticed what he was looking at.
"That was master Vaati, he was the leader of the sheikah clan. To be more exact though he was the progenitor of the shiekah, the first of our kind. No one's really sure where he came from but he was very powerful and wasn't always a friend to us"
"In the second age he was actually a great enemy to Hyrule. Once used his incredible shadow magic to overwhelm the kingdom"
"What happened to him?", Impa indicated towards the painting next to the portrait of Vaati.
"He was defeated by the four legendary elemental knights". He looked closer at the painting she pointed out, it was of four men who looked almost identical to eachother, each holding an identical sword with a golden hilt. The only difference between the four men was each wore a different colour and a coresponding gemstone hanging around their necks representing what Link asumed to be the four elements.
"Did they kill him?"
"No, they let him live and he escaped into exile for many years. A decision that proved to be a wise one given the nature of what happened next. He returned to the castle some time later and begged for forgivness"
"What? After everything he did?". Link was surprised at this, it wasn't like a bad guy to change like that.
"Indeed, he claimed that he had been overcome by some dark force which caused him to loose control of his actions, apprently being defeated snapped him out of whatever happened to him. Knowing he would not be trusted so easily, he promised the royal family the service of his entire clan in hopes it would make amends for his actions. As it turned out accepting this offer was the greatest move Hyrule ever made, the shiekah are very powerful allies for the kingdom to have. Vaati made home in the village of Kakariko at the foot of Death mountain, turned it into a shiekah colony. His skill with magic helped create new defences and medicines and revolutionised Hyrule as it was known. He helped build the great temples of the six sages and opened up alliences with the deku, goron and zora tribes. From starting out as one of the greatest enemies this castle has ever known, he became the closest friend of the royal family"
"He sounds amazing but why have i never heard of the shiekah before?"
"So we've faded completely from memory in the future... that's a shame. Up untill the third age hylians and shiekah lived peacfully together but that changed after the great war. A group of dark interlopers lead by a party of shiekah and gerudos rose an army of creatures people have never seen before from the underworld and attacked the kingdom hoping to bring it to ruin. They possessed magic and weapons the likes of which have never been seen since, wiped out Hyrule's defences with ease. Vaati used all of his own magic to fight back but even he couldn't stop them for long, story says this was the bloodiest battle the castle had ever known. In the end Hyrule won the battle but the damage was already done, for all intensive purposes they had sucseeded in bringing the kingdom to ruin. Most of the shiekah were wiped out and the traitors to the clan were sealed away in the underworld, never to see the light of day again. What few of us that were left who remained loyal to the royal family went into exile"
"But if they where still loyal, why'd the royal family send you away?"
"They didn't want to, infact the king campaigned to keep us here but after everything that happened the kingdom simply didn't trust our clan anymore. So the king at the time sent them into hiding far away"
"In the Ikana mountains, right?", this was starting to make sence to Link now, however tragic it was.
"Correct, that became the new colony, though the king did keep my family here in the castle protected from the public's eye. Do you see this symbol here?", Link looked at the red eye design across Impa's armor that she pointed to. "It's the symbol of our clan, do you notice how the emblem on Vaati's robes doesn't have the tear drop?", he looked up and saw she was correct. "The tear was added after the war to symbolise the pain the war caused to us and the royal family and the blood that was spilt. That's why it's rare to see a sheikah anymore"
"Wow, all because of one group that went bad? I'm sorry for asking, it must be hard to talk about"
"It's ok, this happened a long time ago. People have all but forgotten about us so we probably could return if we wanted, though i dont think there's many of us left to return anyway". The two looked out the window at the much lighter coloured sky which caused Link to yawn. "It's getting early, you should return to your room and get a bit more rest, you'll need it for the day ahead"
"Yeah, thanks for the talk, i think i understand things a little better now"
"Any time young one". Link returned back into the room just in time to see the sun rise over the horrizon through his window, lighting up the vast field before him. Tomorow was a new day in a new world for him.
Chapter 10 - Stepping into a New World
Morning broke, signaling the start of a new day for Link in the land of Hyrule. After resting up more from his late night chat, the young hero found himself wandering around the castle looking for the princess or Raven. Instead he found Impa speaking to one of the guards so ran over to talk to her.
"Excuse me, miss Impa", she dismissed the guard back to his duties. "I was just wondering if you knew where everyone is?"
"Ahh Link, i was just going to go find you. Raven and the princess have gone to the castle aerie to gather information and requested that i should find you to join them, this way". He followed Impa through the castle and up the countless spiraling stairs of a tower untill they reached the door at the top. Opening it, they walked into a circular room with no walls, towering over the rest of castle. Instead of walls there was just pillars holding up the roof above them, leaving the room open to the magnificent view overlooking the whole town. The two people he was looking for noticed their arival and greeted him forward before returning their attention back to the surprising sight infront of them. Standing in the middle of the aerie was a massive brown owl which looked down at them all. The princess then stepped forward and spoke to it.
"Great Keapora, you have guided my family for generations but i fear we are in our greatest hour of need. We fear that the dark thief Ganondorf has returned to our land with a power more terrifying than any we've seen before. You watch over all of Hyrule so please lend us your knowledge". The huge owl turned it's head upside down and back again before speaking, which Link found pretty amusing.
"Hoo hoot! Indeed a great evil has returned to this land and has already struck at it's people. A moblin pack attacked the heart of the zora's domain in the early hours of last night. Many zoras were hurt, some were lost and Ganondorf was sighted during the attack."
"Great godesses! Queen Ruto, is she alright?", Zelda exclaimed.
"She is injured but will survive"
"That's good to hear but why attack the zoras. Was he after the sapphire?"
"No, the stone still remains in the spring. While the moblins attacked the people, Ganondorf entered the shrine to speak to Lord Jabun. After which he cursed Jabun to a deep sleep and left soon after"
"Ohh my... Impa, give word to the royal guard to send assistance to the zora's domain, they will need immediate medical help."
"Right away my lady", Impa replied as she made her way back down the tower.
"Something's not right here", Raven said. "The zoran sapphire in the spring produces all the water that flows through Hyrule. The zoras and even the whole of Hyrule depend on that stone, if he wanted to cause damage why didn't he take it? Princess, is there anything else of value in the domain?"
"Not that i know of, as you said their sapphire is their most valuable treasure. Maybe this was just a senceless attack to send us a warning. Great Keapora, what advice can you offer us?"
"Hyrule will face it's darkest hour but you must stand strong to overcome the trails ahead.", the owl then spread it's large wings and lifted off from the ground before it addressed Link himself. "Young one out of your time, you shall face your greatest test. Stand tall and remember the goddesses are watching over you. Save our land, only then can you save yours. Hoo hoo hoot!", and with that, the owl flew out of the open aerie and off into the distance.
Making their way back through the corridors of the castle, the three of them began discussing a plan of action for the events to come.
"Ok so we know that Ganon has indeed returned and is already reforming his moblin forces"
"Thankfully it seems he truely isn't aware of what he now possesses otherwise he wouldn't need a moblin army. For the triforce of darkness to become complete he'll need the three golden pieces, thankfully we already possess the triforce of wisdom so aslong as i protect mine and keep it hidden, he can never complete his. We could try to find Power and Courage but they could be anywhere and can stay dorment for years", Raven said.
"True but that means it would be hard for him to find them too and since we've established he doesn't know about this i think we can breathe easy that the worst case scenario wont come to pass for now. Meaning we just need to prepare against moblins and magic like he used last time...". While Raven and Zelda strategized, Link's thoughts began to wonder aswell as his eyes out the window. Walking around castle walls was something in a large suit of armor, much larger than any hylian could ever be. It looked familar to Link with its long flowing cape, round shield, huge jagged broad sword. Then he finally recognised it.
"A darknut! What's one of them doing here?", Zelda looked at Link then at the darknut walking around the grounds outside.
"You've seen one of these before have you?"
"Yeah back in my time i found them inside dungeons and temples and they often tried to kill me on sight! Shouldn't we do something about one being here?"
"Relax, this is one of our's. Look he's wearing the royal colours", Link looked closer and saw it's armor and shield where deep red with a gold trim and the golden bird emblem was across it's shield and cape, much like the mounted armor in Sir Link's room.
"One of yours? But how, i thought they where enemies like the moblins"
"Like most things it is true that some numbers belong to the side of evil but here they are our strongest soldiers. After the great war, Hyrule had lost the core of it's military strength when the shiekahs left so we formed an allience with the umbra clan of the underworld and gave them refuge here. Come see", Zelda walked to the other side of the hallway and indicated out a different window. There Link saw two large creatures sparring in a ring wearing just cloth pants, armor laid aside. They stood up and moved like people but they where covered in fur and had the heads of dogs, even small tails trailed behind them. Part person, part dog or wolf. "They are a canine race and their warriors are imensly strong. While the hylian soldiers protect the town and the people, the darknuts protect the castle itself. They've proven themselves to be very powerful guards and are the core of our military strength today"
"Can they be trusted though? I mean you said they came from some underworld and they've tried to kill me in the past"
"They may come from an evil land but they are not inherently evil themselves. Soldiers from the umbra clan are incredibly loyal and will always see an order through, no matter what. Sometimes we place a guard inside a temple to protect it from intruders, what attacked you in your future must of just been them still carrying out their orders". Link felt kind of bad for questioning them when he knew nothing about the ways of this time.
"I'm sorry, i'm new to here so i didn't know", Zelda looked at him sympathetically.
"Here's an interesting thought", Raven finally spoke up. "Link, your in a new world so i reckon your dying to go out there and see everything. We need to gather information about what's happening out there so what better way to do so than to get out there and look around for yourself. Link, me and Zelda will handle the issue with the zoras, you go out and explore the town. By all means have a look at the sights and everything but keep your ears out for word of any more strange activity". Link looked back at Zelda as if to "ask can i", to which she nodded. He thanked them and ran out through the courtyard and into the market town.
"This place is huge...", Link stood infront of the large central fountain in the middle of the town taking in the sheer size of the place. Being midday, the market was filled with people going about their business. There were traders selling their wares, kids running around together and others just strolling around. It was clear this was not like the small islands he was used to, but where to begin when faced with a new world?
"What was it Raven said about this place, it's split up into four sections", Looking around there was four roads leading away from the fountain. "I'm meant to be looking out for word on anything bad so i guess the market stalls are a good place to start". Around the central part of town there where all kinds of shops and busy attractions to look around. Large every day shops bustling with people, a grand looking bank, a resturant with tables outside and a balcony overlooking the town, even what looked like an archery game. What caught Link's eye the most though was the weapons shop, he couldn't resist checking it out. Inside, the walls where lined with swords and armor of all sorts of shapes and sizes glistening in the dim torch light. Broad swords and battle axes much too large for Link to pick up, exquisite looking 2-handers he'd struggle with, there was also various pieces of armor such as chainmails and gauntlets. He wondered about getting anything but his speed and lightness have always been his advantage in battle. On the other side of the store was shelves of the tiny blue bombs he was used to using aswell as quite a few types he's never seen before. There where some covered in blue scales like a fish labelled "underwater bombs", black ones called "smokers" and even green ones with legs resembling an insect called "bombachus". Small grey ones with no fuse caught his curiocity, He picked up one to look at when a voice spoke up from behind him.
"Can i help you?", Link turned around to face the shopkeeper and was taken back at the sight. The man standing infront of him was huge and yellow in colour with a goofy round face and body, plus what Link could have sworn was rocks growing on his back. "Hoho, what's the matter. You act like you've never seen a goron before". So these where gorons?
"Err actually i havn't, i'm kind of new around here", The shopkeeper looked at the bomb Link was holding.
"You like it, it's one of our newest types. Instead of a fuse it has a button you remove", he took the bomb and pulled off the mount where the fuse would normally stick out of, leaving a glowing red hole in the top of the bomb. "Leave it where you want and it wont explode untill you press the button", he explained as he put the two pieces back together. "So what'll it be?"
"Err i'll take some regular ones, maybe give these smoke ones a try too"
"You'll need another bag for the smokers so lets call it 70 rupees for the lot". It was a good job Link had amassed a small fortune in his travels on the seas, he pulled out the bag of tiny gems to pay for the items. "So your new round here you say, what's your name?"
"Link", suddenly a booming voice came from the back room of the store.
"LINK YOU SAY?", deep loud footsteps echoed closer untill the curtain to the back door of the store flew open and an even larger and somewhat scarier looking goron entered the room. He had wild white hair and a beard, and muscles like Link had never seen. Tribal looking tatooes adorned his arms and large spikey gold braclets clasped around each wrist.
"Go help with the casting", so this guy was called Darunia? "Tell me kid, you said your name was Link?", Link couldn't help but step back a bit not sure if he should be scared or not.
"Y-yes, though i'm not the one y-you might know", the large goron looked down at the young hero and burst out into hearty laughter and patted Link on the back, which felt like he nearly broke it.
"There is no need to feel intimidated around us, we are friendlier than we look. Brother Link is dear friend to the goron tribe ever since he saved our mine from dodongo infestation. You look so much like he did back then, are you his child perhaps?"
"Err no, it's a little more complicated than that", he still couldn't help but wonder, could he really be some distant decendent?
"Ohh? Well he's one of our favorite customers here, though i havn't seen him for a while now."
"I'm sorry to say but he was taken by some creature, we're not sure what's happened to him."
"What!", Darunia looked at Link shocked at the news. "Your telling the truth, this is terrible"
"The princess has sent me to look out for word on any strange goings on, any sort of clue to point towards what's become of him"
"Well i've heard of nothing perculiar but i'll help in any way i can. Infact come into the back room, i've got an idea", he said as he held the curtain door open and beckoned Link through.
The back room was large and dimmly lit with work benches, anvils and large stone sword moulds spread throughout. Stacked up against the walls where rocks of all sorts and bars of metal ready to be added into the furnace dominating the back wall. Currently two gorons where pouring out glowing red liquid metal into one of the moulds, casting out a sword.
"Originally i was the chief of the goron tribe but i set up shop here to help supply the castle with equipment. Our forge is only small compared to the one in the Death Mountain mines, we make simple equipment and repair work here. I notice that shield of yours is rather worn out through battle use. If you wish, we could strengthen it for you". Link pulled the shield off his back and looked at it, should he really mess with it after all he's been through? He was going to face greater trials ahead, perhaps a stronger shield would prove useful.
"Please be very careful with this", he said handing his shield to Darunia. "It's been in my family for generations."
"Don't worry, gorons are the greatest blacksmiths there are". The large goron placed it on a work bench and nodded to the other two who immediatly set to work. One picked up a bar of metal out of a pile while the other pulled over some kind of giant lizard on a leash. Holding the bar infront of it with tongs, the lizard breathed out blinding hot flames causing the bar to glow red and become maluable.
"Dodongos, their fire helps soften metal to hammer into shape. Now while they're getting to work there's something over here i'd like you to have". Link followed Darunia to a table with rock dust crushed in a pestle and mortar. "I dont know about anything that's happening out there but i want to help so please take this". He pulled a ball of screwed up leather from the table and unwrapped it, revealing a deep red, spikey bomb.
"What is that?"
"We've recently been experimenting in bombs that deliver incredible blasts, much larger than any you've used before. If you find whoever took Brother Link, use this on them and there wont be anything left."
"Thank you", Link said taking the sinister looking bomb and looking on at the two smaller gorons working on restrengthening his family shield.
Chapter 11 - The Madness Begins
Walking down the road to south market town, Link was admiring his new and improved shield he recieved from the goron blacksmiths. The metal rim and lobster design now shone brightly in the sunlight as good as new. The shield itself had also been lined with something Darunia called dodongo hide, some kind of scaley leather he claimed would make it flame proof. He still couldn't believe his eyes when they tested it, they propped up the shield against a rock and made the giant lizard spit fire at it. When the torrent of flames hit it, the fire bounced off in all directions partially melting the surrounding stone wall. The shield came out without a scratch, barely even warm to the touch. Link pulled out of his thoughts and strapped the new shield onto his back again as he entered the south market. It was filled with people browsing around through the many busy market stalls that now lined the streets. Walking through he passed one stall selling cheese and pumpkins that had a perculiar looking goat with round horns that met in a loop standing next to the keeper. Link coulnd't help but smile at the kids running up to pet it. There where kids also around another stall called "the happy mask shop", though the shopkeeper looked a little creepy to Link. Hearing the sound of a horse trotting, he moved out of the way of a wagon delivering bottles of milk passing through the town, driven by a rather large man in blue and red overalls. Wherever he looked, this town had everything and a real lively spirit, he was begining to think crossing timelines wasn't so bad afterall. A stall with large red balloons tied to it marked "Tingles maps" caught his interest. There were maps of all kinds of places ranging from tiny towns to full forests and mountain ranges in different detail, right now though Link only needed one kind.
"Can i have a map of the whole of Hyrule?", he asked the rather exentric looking man.
"Sure, 50 rupees", he paid the man and looked at the map he just bought. Hyrule was bigger than he thought, there wasn't many details marked out except the different provinces, towns and landmarks, still it wasn't like Link was new to filling in map details on the move. Packing it away he continued to look around, picking up a bright red smelly fish from a fish stall when he thought he heard something odd. Through the background noise of carts passing through, kids running around and the whole town talking and trading, he could have sworn he heard someone call for help. He looked around but the town seemed normal, untill his eyes moved to the southern town entrance. An old man limped through the gate before collapsing on the floor, causing a few people to look over. Link ran over to him and helped him sit up, he looked completely out of breath and had a nasty cut on his head.
"Old man, what happened?"
"I-I was t-travelling when i was at-attacked by thieves", other people started rushing over to help out.
"What did they do, attack and steal your money?"
"N-no, but they d-did something", he lifted up a small bag in his shaking hands to show Link something but dropped it. When the bag hit the floor the rupees inside fell out but they where far different from any Link has seen before. Usually rupees are vibrently coloured but these ones where black, some where cracked.
"What in the world...", he looked closely at them when suddenly he heard someone scream behind him. He turned around quickly and saw a woman standing behind him looking horrified at the rupees in her hand.
"What's happening to them!", Link looked at them too as an inky blackness began to grow inside them, draining their colour.
"Everyone stand back!", the woman dropped the now black rupees and stepped away from the injured man on the floor. He was meant to keep an eye out for anything strange and this certainly counts. Just as he was about to call for help, he heard market guards approching.
"What's going on here!", they yelled as he cleared the area of people.
"This man's been attacked, he needs help", one of the guards picked up the old man and carried him on his back. "Also we need to take him to see the princess. Something's happened to his money, look", he gathered and picked up all the black and broken jewels. "She told me to find and report anything strange so she'll want to see this."
"Very well, into the castle. Clear the way!"
"Link, you did well bringing this to us, this is very worrying", Zelda said as she looked closely at the broken black rupees layed out on the table. She placed both her hands over them which began to glow faintly as she muttered under her breath, no doubt some kind of magic. The old man was sitting on a chair while Impa cleaned off his head wound.
"It's no good, it's clearly some kind of dark magic but i've never seen anything like this before". The princess walked over to the old man and handed him a deep blue and silver chalice, filled with the familiar blood red potion that once healed Link. "Take deep breaths, now tell me exactly what you remember"
"I was walking to town from Kakariko village, it seemed like a normal day when all of a sudden these three people jumped out of nowhere". He took a sip of the potion while Raven walked over and placed his hand over the rupees. Link watched as the same purple wisps as before surrounded them, it must be this "shadow magic" he had heard about from Impa.
"Three men attacked you? Can you remember what they looked like or anything about them?"
"Firstly that they weren't men, they were women. I couldn't see what they looked like because they kept faces covered, but it looked like they had dark skin and had strange accents. O-one of them pulled out a c-curved sword, h-held me on the g-ground and...", Zelda placed her hand on his shoulders to help calm him down.
"It's ok your safe here, just tell me what they did", after a deep breath he continued.
"One of them took my bag of money and emptied it into her hand. She took something out of her pocket and put that in her hand too, i didn't see what it was. She started laughing and threw my rupees onto the floor, that's when the other one knocked me out. When i came to, m-my head was bleeding a-and...", he pointed to the rupees on the table.
"Thank you for telling us everything, we'll do whatever we can. Link can you sit with him for a minute?", Link nodded and sat with the poor old man. Meanwhile Zelda and Impa started pacing around the room in deep thought.
"What are you thinking my lady?"
"Dark skinned women aggressive enough to rob an old man and who uses curved swords..."
"Scimitars my lady, the weapon of choice of the gerudo tribe"
"I think your right with that, these theives certainly do sound like gerudos but i've never heard of anything like this before. Usually they would just take the money, not destroy it. I wonder what they added to cause the rupees to turn black..."
"I think they added another rupee", Raven said picking up one of them. "These rupees are giving off some kind of energy and going from what i heard happen in the town i have an idea. Link, carefully remove a rupee from your wallet for me". Link was cautious at what Raven was planning but he pulled out a green rupee from his pouch and handed it to him. Before he could even give the gem to Raven, it had turned black and began to crack, much to the astonishment of Zelda and Impa. "Just as i thought, coming near to infected rupees causes the infection to spread, degrading them". Zelda picked up the new black rupee and looked closely at it before it simply broke down into dust in her hand. "It seems to work like a virus, bring one black rupee into contact with another to infect it causing it to infect more. It's like the rupees are rotting away, decaying into dust. I suspect the thieves slipped this man an already infected rupee to start the chain reaction."
"Good heavens, this is unreal", the princess said. "Some kind of magic that causes money to rot into dust? We should be thankful you brought this man here as fast as you did Link, something like this in the middle of Hyrule's busiest trading market could have been desasterous"
"Thankfully it seems the infection crosses by contact through the air. The magic doesn't seem strong enough to cross through the fabric of pouches yet, that's why Link's rupee didn't turn untill he pulled it out."
"My lady, what shall we do? There is still the issue of the zoras", Impa said.
"Your right... We know the gerudos have something to do with this so we need to send someone in to investigate"
"I'll do it", Link offered. Zelda and Raven looked at eachother and nodded in agreement.
"Very well, you'll need to go into the gerudo province to the west and investigate anything that might be the cause of the rupees decay", Link nodded.
"Link, one more thing", Raven said. "You had best leave your money here with me". This took Link by surprise, just asking to hand over all his money?
"I know your packing a small fortune on you and if what we've seen here is anything to go by, the gerudos now have the power to turn money into dust. We cant send you in there where your riches will likely not return so you had best give them to me for safe keeping". Zelda nodded in agreement.
"He's right". Finally giving in, Link handed over his rather full bag of money to the red eye'd boy who made it vanish in his shadow magic wisps before his eyes. Impa and the princess began wispering amonst themselves before turning back to the young hero. "Link, could you follow me into the courtyard while we get prepared to go."
A few minutes later, Link was following Zelda as they waited to Impa to return with something.
"Now Link, there are a few things you need to understand before going into the gerudo desert. The gerudo are a secluded desert dwelling tribe of all women. There is only one male gerudo born every 100 years who by birthright is the leader of the whole tribe, and Ganondorf was their previous leader", Link suddenly got nervous about going into Ganon's home town. "Though they did not accept him as their leader, the gerudos are still notable theives. While they are not enemies of Hyrule, they refuse to forge an allience with us so you must tread carefully with what you do there. You must seek out the gerudo called Nabooru, she was the one who started the tribes rebelion against Ganondorf so is a good person at heart."
"Alright, watch what i say, seek out Nabooru, i got it. But how am i going to get there, by cart?"
"No, a cart would be too slow for our needs, you need something faster", the two started hearing the sound of hooves coming closer. "Ahh good, here she is now". Impa was walking walking towards them pulling with her a beautiful brown haired horse with a stunning white mane.
"This is Epona, Master Link's trusty steed". Link was surprised at what they where giving him.
"I'm going to use HIS horse?", he said turning to Zelda.
"Yes i'm sure he wont mind given the current situation. Time is of the upmost importance and none ride faster than Epona here", she said stroking the horse's mane. Link pulled out his newly aquired map and Impa pointed out the course he should take.
"You'll want to follow this path west, cross the bridge over the canyon and keep to the desert pass untill you reach their fortress", Link nodded.
"What about you and Raven princess?"
"I'm going to see if i can find a way to stop the decay spreading and Raven is going to the zora's domain to assist them. Now remember, you need to investigate for anything that might be the cause of this, it is not the gerudo way to use magic. Be careful, we already know that atleast three gerudos there are involved and are dangerous. Be vigilent and good luck". After they said their goodbyes they parted ways, Zelda returned to the castle while Impa walked him and Epona to the southern gate.
"Ok Link, this is it, your first mission in this world", Impa said as she helped the struggling hero up onto the horse. "Nervous? Riding Epona is easier than it looks, just set her off and guide her in the direction you want to go. She's pretty smart so she'll likely guess where your going herself."
"Ohh and one more thing", Link look at her confused. "Hold on tight", she said as she slapped the horse on the back causing it to gallop off into the vastness of Hyrule field. Link held onto the reins desperetly trying not be thrown back at the sudden jolt of speed.
"Zelda wasn't kidding, you are fast!". After a while he got used to the feel of it and started to enjoy riding a horse. The castle town soon became small in the background as the young hero rode across the lush green landscape, crossing inbetween rocky passes following the path west. Soon Link started to feel the same daring exhilaration he felt the first time he sailed out to sea.
"Come on Epona, lets see how fast you can really go". The horse seemingly understanding him, neighed and kicked up the speed, galloping at an incredible pace. All Link could do was hang on as the trees became blurs behind him as he rode onward towards the harsh desert lands of the gerudo tribe.
Chapter 12 - Search for the Gerudo
Dusk was already approching by the time the young hero had reached the western reaches of Hyrule. The last of the sunlight dipped under the horizon as he crossed the bridge over a mighty chasm that seemed to go down forever. No longer was there lush green grass or trees standing on the ground, instead the ground had become stoney with steep cliffs either side of the pass.
"I wonder if i'm going the right way", Link wondered pulling out his map. "It looks like the desert starts just after the bridge so the gerudos should be just ahead". With the sun now set and tall cliffs either side, it was very dark and eeiry. Even Epona seemed restless as she trotted through the desert pass. Looking up, Link saw large black birds circling overhead and heard their less than encouraging crows. Just as he thought he heard something else, the ground around him cracked open with multiple green spiked pod like creatures jumping up out of nowhere. This sudden burst of movement startled Epona, making her rise onto her hind legs neighing. Dispite trying to hold on, the scared horse threw Link off backwards who landed on the ground and cracked his head on a rock. The world around him grew faint as he lay on the ground drifting unconscious, the sound of the green creatures circling around him growing ever fainter untill, nothing.
Link groaned as he started regaining consciousness, feeling very sick and his head still pounding.
"You shouldn't try to move yet". Link looked over towards the sound of the voice, his eyes squinting even in the dull light of the room. "You had a nasty fall, you need to take it easy", the person said as they placed a damp cloth over Link's head. He looked up and took a good look at the one caring for him, it was a girl. Tan skin, brown eyes and long flowing bright red hair down to her shoulders.
"Th-Thanks. Where am i?", taking a look around all he could see was he was lying on a bed in a plain stone room lit by candle light.
"Your in our fortress just outside of the desert, you where brought here after you where found on the ground in the pass.". He tried to remember what happened but it all happened so fast.
"What happened to me?"
"You where ambushed by a pack of leevers which scared your horse. You must have hit your head when you where thrown off and blacked out. Our scouts found you just in time and brought you here. What's your name?"
"Link, thats a funny name", the girl said as she smiled.
"Where's all my stuff?"
"Ohh it's all here", she said as she pointed towards the pile of equipment on the table. Link sat up to look but winced at the pain. "Here take some water, it'll help", she said handing a bowl of water to him. As he was drinking it the door opened and two rather intimidating looking women entered the room. They both had dark coloured skin and each wore long silky pants, two simple cloth wraps as a top and held sinister looking curved swords. The one in red had very long orange hair tied back in a pony-tail while the other, in green, had shorter much darker red hair.
"How's he doing, he awake yet?"
"Yes, he's just woken up. His head's still in pain but he seems to be fine", the young girl said.
"Kid, you do know we dont allow trespassers into our land. Outsiders are forbidden here", the one in green said.
"Why did you bring me here then if i'm not allowed then?"
"We may not allow outsiders here", the one in red spoke, "but we will not leave one to become leever food". A thought then occured to Link.
"If outsiders are forbidden but i'm here, does that mean i'm a prisoner?"
"That depends, what where you doing out there?". Link thought about how much he should say right away.
"I was sent here by Princess Zelda, she said i'm to find someone called Nabooru here", the two gerudos looked at eachother then back to Link.
"Ohh, and what do you want with her?"
"I'm only to speak to her about this"
"Really now", the one in red said. "I'm Nabooru, so why where you sent to find me?". Link was about to speak when his head winced in pain. "I guess now's not the time, we'll take you to the chief tomorow, he'll decide what to do with you"
"Sister, if i may", the other woman said. "Is there really any need for that? This kid's just a trespasser, we should just move him out once he's healed up. He's not worth the chief's time"
"Who isn't worth my time?", everyone looked towards the door at the new voice and stepped aside to let the man into the room. "You mean this outsider who travelled all this way and dared the desert pass at nightfall?". This man had wild dusty coloured hair with red and white robes and a large scar running from his eye down his cheek.
"Garoh, i only meant-"
"I know full well what you meant Astrid but it has been many a moon since we've had a visitor and now the princess sends this young boy to us. We should first see what her majesty wants before we throw him out. But not now, our guest needs his rest so lets leave him alone". The two gerudo woman nodded and left leaving just the man and the girl. "That means you too young one"
"Aww, fine then", she said getting up from the bed. "Goodnight Link"
"Wait, whats your name?", Link called out.
"I'm Ceila", she said smiling before she and the man called Garoh left. Now that the room was quiet again Link started to notice the pain more. He lay back down and held the wet cloth over his head, trying to get some sleep.
Morning came with the sound of a door opening and the entrance of the woman called Astrid from the previous night.
"Your awake at last, how's your head?"
"Better, still a little sore"
"Hmm well i'm here to take you to the chief", she said as Link went to pick up his tunic. "You wont be needing that". Link looked at her in confusion. "Never been to a desert before have you. Leave your stuff here unless you want to melt". He didn't quite understand but regardless he left most of his equipment behind, still wearing his undershirt as he followed Astrid through the maze like path of rooms untill they came to the way outside. As they walked into the blinding sunlight he could feel the intense wall of heat, now he understood why Astrid told him to leave his heavy clothes behind. Looking around there was nothing but blazing hot sand as far as the eye could see, it was an incredible sight. Though he didn't get to see much of it before Astrid stopped infront of another door, ordering the guards to let them pass for which he was thankful to be out of the heat for.
"Ahh good, your finally here", said the gerudo man sitting by a table. "I trust you've recovered since last night. I am Garoh, leader of the gerudo tribe. You've already met Astrid and her sister Nabooru, captains of our guards", he said as he nodded towards the two women that was also in the room. "Now tell me, for what reason was the princess foolish enough to send you here?"
"An incident happened yesterday in Hyrule market and Zelda send me to find Nabooru for help"
"What kind of incident?" Nabooru asked looking concerned.
"An old man was attacked by three gerudos, they did... something to him and knocked him out. A short time later he showed up in the market and rupees began turning into dust before our eyes", the gerudo chief looked intregued at this. "We dont know how or why this is happening but i was meant to find you for help looking for a cause"
"What do you mean turning into dust?"
"It's just as i said. Just by going near the man rupees started turning black and cracking apart into dust. We know its some kind of magic, something about one infecting another and another but we dont know whats causing it. All we can guess is it's something from here"
"My dear boy, we are but humble theives", Garoh said leaning back into his chair, "We have no kind of magic like that". This made Link think for a moment before he spoke.
"That's not true, Ganondorf was a gerudo", Nabooru gave Garoh a look, "He had very powerful magic didn't he", he noticed the awkward silence and the tension in the room and wondered if he had just said something he shouldn't have.
"Kid, Ganondorf was my brother". Link stepped back at the news. It couldn't be but the more he looked at the gerudo chief, the more he noticed the resemblence and put up his guard. "You can relax, we hold no loyalties to him"
"I didn't know he had a brother, or any family at that"
"No you wouldn't, i spent most of my life hiding out in the desert wastelands. While it is true the Dragmire family has strong magic in their blood, I refused to indulge in their dark spells. Not being the son and heir my wretched family wanted...", Link could hear the bitterness in his voice, "I ran and hid away from them. Once Ganondorf was killed, Nabooru here found me and brought me out of hiding to fulfill my birthright as chief. So like i said, with Ganondorf now dead, we gerudo do not possess such magic anymore". Link decided this man was trustworthy, he seemed truely bitter talking about Ganon so he must be telling the truth.
"Then there's something else you should know, Ganondorf has returned to the world". Garoh stood up quickly throwing his chair back while the other two gerudos stood in shock.
"No, that's impossible!" Nabooru yelled as she slammed her hand on the table. "We executed him, i was one of the ones who saw it through. We dragged him deep into the desert, chained him to a rock and plunged a sword straight through his chest! We watched him die!"
"I know this seems impossible but you must listen to me, he is back! The Ganondorf you knew might be dead but because of an extremely powerful dark object, another one has been pulled across time to here and now and this one is more powerful that ever before. He's already been sighted attacking zora domain so maybe the money of Hyrule turning to dust is some of his work"
"That monster!", Nabooru said clearly distraught. "We may be theives and outlaws to the rest of Hyrule but we have our honor! Ganondorf did not, he was cold, cruel and merciless. He always used dirty tricks to ensure he got his way!"
"Your right", Garoh said, "This certainly does seem like the kind of thing he'd do. Alright Link, you get your wish, we'll assist you in your task. If people from our tribe are using such magic then they may be in contact with him, we must act immeadiatly! Astrid fortify the defencesand make sure nothing gets through. Nabooru search the grounds and make sure any traitors are dealt with"
"Yes sir!", said the two women as they left the building.
"Link, since you seem to know more about this than any of us you may have free roam of the fortress, you might spot something we wont". The young hero thanked the chief and walked out back into the blazing heat of the gerudo desert, eager to explore and hopeful to find something to help put an end to Ganon's work.
Hey guys please leave your comments and suggestions with how i could make this better. I'd really love to hear what you think of this

I know exactly how can feel to work on project for long while alongside I love dedication to ideas, so I'll toss out comments for you. I prefer for us all to support one another, after all and try to add reviews more in as this goes along. Now, I'll be more giving criticism than anything else, NOT because this is bad, but because I'm a perfectionist and want to give you advice to improve. I will tell you what I do like at the end of this, I just know you're probably searching for more than just "I like this, keep it up." I DO like this and I do want you to keep it up, though.
I have one word for on improvement: Weaving. Right now your descriptions are far more huge info dumps which could use some better pacing and flow IMO. More that I took in tons at a time real quick there which I feel would of been better written if they weren't in large lumps of paragraph and instead. Use dialogue to your advantage. I am a huge supporter of use of dialogue really to help flow thing and it reveals characters better. I really think this story could do far better with more dialogue. Character is important, again, something I'll come back to. To resume back to about weaving though, you should split up your narrative on description with dialogue and actions. Just needed as this feels like a huge info dump at times and lacks flow.
Now, just for suggestion in writing fanfic for Zelda: You have a very rich medium to work with here, I'd probably play with expectations. Since people know what generally to expect from Zelda, I'd probably go for deconstructions and/or use of subversions what's generally expected of Zelda series.
And minor thing, grammar needs work, capitalizations, proper punctuation placement, and so on.
With that out of the way, this feels like The Legend of Zelda. It really captures the tone of it and feel you have when you start any of the adventures in game along with stories. The description of setting, the dialogue, and so on feel like something out of Zelda. I say you keep this going up and have fun with it! Also not bad use of balance between show and tell so far, I'd just work at some of way description painted so it doesn't fill so clustered.
"I am alone. I look at the heavens and think them empty. And if not empty, I find the idea of worshiping whatever dwells there obscene. It doesn't change what is right. If there is nothing in this world but what we make, brothers...let us make good."

Omg sorry for such a long delay on this chapter! Its been exam season and i've had such a creative block for this chapter. I've got the rest of the story figured out but i never put much thought into the details of these earlier chapters untill now
Anywho the 6th chapter is up and now we're finally getting into the real part of this story. Believe it or not but this has only been the begining so far!
Dash the Stampede, thanks so much for the comment. I love getting comments back and i really appreciate the critisism actually, i know my literature skills arnt top notch . I know the descriptions must be quite long but i just needed to get the scenes set. As for the dialogue, i'm well aware there hasn't been much but there havn't been many characters untill now, that's going to change in the upcoming chapters though . Keep tuned for the rest of the story because there are going to be quite a few surprises along the way

Getting the scene set-up doesn't mean it has to be an info dump though. That's reason I suggest weaving. Also, since there is not that many characters is not really a point related to use of it. Really, having less characters appear mean you have more reason to give character focus and expand on them. I can give you an example how to better for both of that that, if you'd like.
As a side note, right now a few of us are trying to work into a bit of a C4C (comment for comment) courtesy system to help get more reviews and such going all throughout forum. It's a system which, if everybody works together on, will benefit everybody as a whole. I'm doing what I can to spread the word around the forum and gesture all around to try to get this more kicked off. With the amount around who ask for C&C compared to giving it out as well, we're hoping this could help the forum as a whole.
If you are willing to assist with this, I do have story I think you may enjoy released right now known as Grandmaster of Theft that can take a look at. Also would toss out there to give some of other stories around here a chance and feedback seeing as everybody else likes getting it as much as you do for your own work. Kudos for listening!

Hey dash, thanks for the idea but i dont think i visit here often enough to be consistent with this campain thingy. I'll see what i can do and see if i can drop a comment or two here and there but it's awful difficult to tear myself away from my 3DS for too long
I did take your advice though and redid some of the grammer and whatnot throughout the story so far. Plus theres going to be quite a few more characters popping up now so i'll try to mix descriptions and dialogue together
Anywho everyone sorry for the wait but i've now released the next chapter. This is a pretty important one storywise as its the "title chapter". As always, your thoughts or critism's are greatly appreciated

Thanks for the support DarkPyroYoshi , its great to hear someones following along with this. Sorry it's been so long since the last update, i keep getting distracted by other things . Will try to get the next one up sooner though . This was more a "show and tell" chapter, see if you can recognise everything
EDIT: Bleh i keep putting off writting more but i've forced myself to get the next chapter up, dispite it being a little shorter than i had hoped. This ones more of a history lesson of my favorite race in hyrule which i hope will explain what (i think atleast) happened to them. I'm hoping the next chapter will have a bit more plot development so keep tuned
As always, any comments or C+C anyone has will be much appreciated

Hey everyone, sorry it's been a while, writters block . As a treat to make up for it, i've gone and wrote up two chapters this update! Lots of "show and tell" in these chapters aswell as a few familiar faces
Again i'd love to hear what you think of the story so far or any critisisms you may have, i'd welcome the pointers
EDIT: Jeez its been a while, didnt mean to leave it this long! Sorry everyone for the wait but its been a wild few weeks. OOT3D (epic game btw!), chatting to mates and the odd spell of depression. Anywho i've put up the start of the desert chapters. Will try and get the others up MUCH sooner than i have been doing so far. As per usual, any comments or pointers you have to make, please do so
