Continued...
Amazingly they got away with only a few cuts and scrapes. After they recovered they were taken to children’s court. Jase’s lawyer tried to pin it on her since she had been driving the car. Alex now realized that this was why she had been chosen to be the driver. To be blamed. The judge didn’t believe it. He said that Alex had been influenced by Jason in the car theft attempt and any other crimes they had committed. She denied this (against the wishes of her lawyer) telling them she participated of her own free will and was willing to be punished for the crimes. The judge had told her that she had a choice of community service or a juvenile detention centre. She chose juvie. Hell to choosing the wussy path. Her mother listened to Mark’s advice and denounced her. Alex couldn’t believe it. ‘How could you?’ she said in disbelief, the guards allowing her a little time to talk to her mother. ‘How could you denounce your own daughter?’ Her mother looked guiltily at the ground, avoiding eye contact. ‘After everything you’ve done Alex? I don’t have a choice. And Mark thought that it would be best…’ ‘You always have a choice. And it isn’t up to Mark to decide what’s best for me.’ She stopped her hateful speech momentarily to look at Mark disgustedly. ‘He is not my father and he has no ruling over my life. You could choose to give your daughter a second chance.’ Joanne couldn’t look at her. She shuffled over to Mark, who wrapped his arms around her and gave Alex a hard stare. ‘How dare you talk to your mother that wa-‘ ‘Shut it Mark, just shut it,’ Alex interrupted, turning away from him. She approached Tommy, who was crying silently. She kneeled done and hugged him fiercely. ‘I’ll always love you Tommy,’ she whispered in his ear. ‘You’ll be the first person I see when I get out. Make sure you come visit me.’ ‘I don’t want you to go sis,’ he blubbered, trying to wipe away his tears. Alex released him from the hug and looked him in the eyes steadily. ‘I know you don’t Tommy,’ she said calmly. ‘But this is something I have to do.’ The guards led her off to the holding cells, passing Jase on the way. He grinned at her proudly. ‘You’ve got what it takes to go all the way Alex,’ he said as she walked by. ‘Just never go after cars again.’ Alex couldn’t help but smile and seeing this, Jason gave her a wink. ‘Till we meet again,’ he said with a low dramatic bow. Alex sniggered and returned the bow, adding a fancy wave over her shoulder as she disappeared through the prison door. He might have tried to avoid blame by pinning it on her, but he still made her laugh. And she had a lot more to worry about than grudges at the moment. Alex survived well in juvie. It mostly had to do with having committed the third most serious crime out of all of the other girls. The other two were murder and assault of a police officer. Nicky Harper, the murderer, ran the prison. A pretty girl with light brown hair and calculating green eyes, she didn’t seem the type to be in this sort of place. Then again, who was? Nicky was quite impressed with Alex. They had an initiation for her. Sneaking into the guard’s office and stealing a valuable object. Extra points if you managed to pickpocket one of them. Alex did it easily. The stupid guard was sleeping so she stole his alcohol, his silver necklace and his keys. Nicky had decided to take Alex under her wing, even given her own nickname, based on how she had sneaked into the office without any detection. Shadow. Alex had been quite pleased with the nickname, never having really noticed how sly she was. It had been second nature to her. Nicky assured her, between swigs of the alcohol Alex had stolen, that she was the best she had seen yet. And she had seen a lot of thieves. Learnt a lot of their tricks too, which she taught to Alex. It had been her idea to stick together after they served their time. When Alex asked about the murder thing Nicky had gone quiet. She slowly explained that it had been her father she had killed. He was always drunk and got abusive. After finding her mother covered in bruises she had stupidly confronted her still drunk father. He had started hitting her. Nicky had managed to get away and grab a knife from the kitchen. She had only meant to threaten him, scare him a bit but her father had rushed at her and slapped her on the face, telling her that she was a little slut and he had had enough of her behavior. He had gone to hit her again, but Nicky had lunged at him with the knife and found herself covered with blood. Alex didn’t make a comment. She just went on as though nothing had happened. Of course not everything was easy at juvie. There were a lot of fights and the cop assaulter, Carrie Adams, seemed to have it in for her. According to the prison snitch (who knew everything about everyone) she was jealous of the attention she was getting from Nicky. Before Alex came along she had been second in command and now she wanted her position back. Somehow she had managed to get a knife past the guards and had pulled it out during lunch in the dining hall. Dining hall was too fancy a word for the rectangular grey building with steel tables and chairs screwed to the ground. Carrie had approached Alex while she was getting her lunch and swung the blade at her. Luckily, Nicky’s training included learning how to fight so she held up her cheap metal tray to deflect the strike, the nameless slop that had been her lunch sloshing to the floor. The failed attempt made Carrie even angrier and she foolishly charged at Alex, who deftly stepped out of the way. Carrie lost her balance and fell flat on her face. When she got up Alex swung her tray at her, knocking her out cold. Even though the prison guards realized it was for self defense they still put Alex in the isolation room where she stayed without contact for a week. But enough of this Juvenile Detention Centre talk. Let’s go six years into the future.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, i appreciate it!
SIX YEARS LATER Alex and Nicky had stayed good friends after juvie and had got jobs at the same hairdressers. They both had their own apartment and seemed to live better lives, reformed to good, law-abiding citizens. The key word being seemed. By day, happy women who enjoyed their new, crime free lives and determined to keep it that way. By night, thieves who bypassed the toughest of security systems and selling anything they stole through the black market. The thrill of stealing had never left Alex and Nicky had soon joined her in the late night wanderings into other people’s homes and/or workplaces. It was on one of these exhibitions, to a huge mansion, that they ran into other thieves. They were on the roof, about to climb through the skylight, when Alex heard a very familiar voice. ‘So Alex, we meet again.’ Alex and Nicky swung around to see two men in black clothes and black balaclavas. It wasn’t until one of them bowed low that she recognized who it was. She returned Jason’s bow and they both laughed loudly. A little too loudly. A light turned on below them and they heard heavy footsteps and someone cursing. Jason beckoned them over and they quickly climbed down the rope Jason and his friend had left on the side of the building. Jase pulled on the rope and it came off the chimney it had been tied around. ‘Can’t leave any evidence can I?’ Jase said, coiling up the rope. ‘Since when do you think about this sort of stuff Jase?’ Alex laughed, remembering all the times they had had together, particularly the car thing. Hadn't thought about being careful then had he? Jason laughed too, also remembering the last time they had attempted a heist together. ‘Follow us. We most definitely need to talk.’ He directed to the middle of the city, to an all-night café. Jase and his friend had already removed their balaclavas and swapped to more colorful tops, dumping them along with the rope. Alex and Nicky were already wearing suitable street clothes, never having done the completely wearing black thing. It made it less suspicious if you had to escape quickly. You could just be running from an ex-boyfriend, not the law. ‘Didn’t I tell you last time about wearing the black stuff?’ Alex said to him after they had slipped into a booth and ordered their coffee. Nicky stared at the waitress for a moment before deciding she wasn’t listening in on them. ‘Shut up Alex, it works better than wearing glow in the dark clothes doesn’t it?’ he replied jokingly. ‘This is all very interesting, but I just have to ask. Who the hell are you two?’ Nicky asked irritably, not exactly sure what was going on. Jase’s friend nodded in agreement. ‘How about you introduce us Jason, before going on about the good old days?’ he said sarcastically. ‘Sorry. Seth Micheals, meet Alexandra Lakes, my old girlfriend and a top class worker,’ he winked at Alex, telling her that it wasn’t safe to talk openly about their particular line of work. She rolled her eyes at him. As if that hadn’t been obvious. The waitress brought over their beverages and the bill. Seth watched her carefully for a moment before continuing. ‘Alex Lakes? The girl you’re always talking about? You mean I finally get to meet her in person?’ Seth had a real gift for sarcasm. He rolled his eyes as well. ‘He was gutted when he didn’t see you after you got out. It was the only thing he was looking forward to after he got out. He was right about one thing though. You are a pretty girl.’ Jason punched him on the arm. ‘Stop hittin’ on my girl, idiot,’ he complained, punching him again. ‘Not you're girl anymore. She’s fair game,’ Seth retorted, punching him back. Nicky sighed. ‘Why are you always the one who attracts the guys?’ she muttered in Alex’s ear. She shrugged. ‘You're more than welcome to take this weird power of attraction I seem to have. God knows I don’t want it. It’ll lead to trouble.’ She interrupted the guys little punching competition. ‘Are you two done?’ she asked with fake politeness. They stopped the fist fight and turned their attention back to her. ‘This is Nicky Harper, a friend from the joint and a good worker,’ she motioned towards Nicky who gave them a little wave. ‘How about we start again? Everybody shake hands.’ Jase reached over to Alex and Seth to Nicky, and then they swapped over. ‘Now that the introductions are all over and done with,’ Alex said, taking a sip of her coffee. She immediately put it down again, face screwed up in distaste. The others pushed their drinks away. ‘What exactly do we need to talk about?’ Alex enquired, pushing away her own coffee. Jason’s face turned serious and he and Seth leant forward. ‘You two are lucky we found you when we did,’ Jase said, turning to look from one to the other. ‘In this city if you want to steal you have to go through the right people. There’s a whole league of thieves in this city and if you're not apart of it you get hurt very quickly. I'm surprised you two survived so long without getting contacted. Maybe you're being watched, I don’t know…’ he looked at Seth for a second, who shook his head. Jase explained after receiving a questioning glare from Nicky. ‘Seth’s old man runs the league of thieves. He would know if you were being watched. He would know anything that was happening in the league.’ Seth gave him a warning look, which Jason ignored. ‘Anyway if you want to continue your career you better join up. It’ll probably help you in any case. Better gadgets and better people to sell through.’ He paused for a second to give them a questioning look. ‘Who have you been selling through?’ ‘Black market,’ Nicky admitted sheepishly. The guys chortled. ‘You definitely need to join,’ Seth said. ‘The only downside is that the league gets 20% of the profit, but that’s a small price to pay for the connections and the protection.’ ‘He makes this little speech to all new members,’ Jase told them, mocking his friend. He held up his hands to deflect Seth’s blow. ‘Shut up Jase,’ he retorted. Jase pretended to take offence and slid out of the booth. ‘I'm obviously not welcome here,’ he held up his arm for Alex. ‘Would you care to come for a walk milady?’ he said gallantly, making Alex laughed. ‘I would be delighted fine sir,’ she replied, taking the offered arm. She turned back to Nicky and asked, ‘will you be okay?’ ‘Go, abandon me, I’ll be fine,’ she waved her hands at the door encouragingly. When Alex raised her eyebrow she gave her a reassuring smile. ‘Seriously go. You two need to catch up and I can look after myself. Anyway…’ she glanced at Seth. ‘Someone needs to know the finer details of this little society.’

Hey guys, the next installment! Might be the only one in a while cuz i got so excited by the replies i put all the stuff i wrote on here to soon. I'll catch up dont you worry. Anyway enjoy!
Jase and Alex walked down the dark street, the only light source being the single lamp post on the other side of the street. Now was the time they could talk about the court hearing. They had acted all friendly and glad to see each other but this was an issue they needed to resolve. ‘It wasn’t my idea you know,’ Jase said suddenly, stopping to face her. ‘My parents and my lawyer said it without my permission. There was no way I would have let you drive if it meant you got blamed. I never wanted anything bad to happen to you.’ Alex knew he was telling the truth. There was no way he could act so sincere and have that begging for forgiveness look about him if he wasn’t. She sighed. All those years ago she had believed she was only a bargaining chip to him. Sure he had served his own time, the same amount she had, but it had seemed that he had tried to pin it on her. It was only after arriving at the Detention Centre she had realized that he wouldn’t do that. It wasn’t in Jase’s nature to betray someone he cared about. ‘I know you didn’t do it Jase,’ she told him quietly, taking his hand in hers. He gave her a relieved smile and squeezed her hand affectionately. ‘I knew you would. You knew me better than anybody did.’ ‘And maybe I can get to know you again. Your new life, your friends, all the latest tricks of the trade you’ve learnt. Everything.’ She looked into his eyes and could see the love he felt for her. ‘Was it true Jase? What Seth said about the only thing you were looking forward to was seeing me?’ ‘Of course,’ he whispered in her ear. ‘You’re the only girl for me. I would wait till the end of time if it meant being with you.’ He pecked her on the cheek. ‘We were meant to be together Alex.’ She gave in to her impulse. He was right. They were meant to be together. Having him so close felt good. It was a feeling she never wanted to let go of. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her lips against his. He kissed her back tenderly. This was how it was supposed to be. Jason and Alex, Alex and Jason. He never wanted this kiss to end. ‘Told you they would be doing a little more than telling stories from the old days.’ Alex and Jase released each other to see Seth and Nicky, her arms crossed and an all knowing smile on her face, Seth glaring at them angrily. It made her feel guilty, like they were her parents and they had just walked in on their perfect catholic girl with her secret skater boyfriend. What am I thinking? I don’t need their permission to be with Jase. So why do I feel guilty?‘Ahhh… So what do you two think you're doing? Following us?’ Jase tried to sound offended but didn’t quite pull it off. Nicky wagged her finger at him, like he was a naughty child. ‘Now that you two have put your tongues back in your own mouths I think it’s time for me and Alex to go. We have to work in the morning and-‘ ‘What are you four doing on the streets this late at night?’

Hey people thanks for the comments, they make me happy i decided to post my story on here. Here's the next bit.
They wheeled around to see an unfamiliar man striding towards them. Tall, imposing and good looking were three words that would describe well. Dark brown eyes looked suspiciously at them through his messy blonde hair. Jeans, white t-shirt and a black jacket covered his muscular looking frame. It covered something else as well. ‘Cop,’ Jase muttered, noticing the badge pinned on the inside of his jacket. He put his arm around Alex and looked pointedly at Seth, who did the same to Nicky. She was smart enough to see this was an act and wrapped her arms around his waist, making it look like they were a couple. After checking that they had caught on Jase called to the cop,’ not against the law for two mates to be hanging out with their girlfriends is it officer?’ The man drew level with them and glanced at them with what would seem to be a casual look. Alex knew that look was far from casual. He was checking for any signs that they were up to no good. Not going to find anything on us she thought smugly. It was good thing they had ditched the rope and balaclavas. ‘Planning on any late-night activities gentlemen?’ he asked offhandedly, sounding like he didn’t really care. This cops good, Alex thought, noting the way he stood, like he had all the time in the world, but also ready for action. There wasn’t a lot of cops who could appear so indifferently. ‘Well that depends sir, do you mean inside or outside the bedroom?’ Seth snickered. Nicky slapped him on the chest and said in pretend anger, ‘keep our love life private mister!’ ‘Well I have to answer the man’s questions babe!’ he replied teasingly, laughing as she shook her head helplessly. Alex couldn’t help but laugh too. They were so convincing you’d swear they were just another happy couple. The officer was now staring intently at her, which made her feel uncomfortable. She stopped laughing and asked rudely, ‘can I help you?’ His features changed from calculating to embarrassment. ‘Sorry, it’s just you look familiar. The eyes and the hair… What’s your name?’ ‘Ahhhh…’ She looked at Jase who nodded carefully. ‘Alex Lakes,’ she said, turning back to the man. ‘My name is Alex Lakes.’ His eyes lit up in renewed recognition. ‘Alexandra Lakes!’ he exclaimed. ‘The girl who nearly broke my nose! It’s been thirteen years since that little incident,’ he chuckled. ‘Daniel? Is that you?’ Alex couldn’t believe it. What was with all the reunions lately? ‘How do you know Daniel honey?’ Jase enquired, looking at Daniel coolly. ‘Daniel and I used to be good friends in school. Until he started acting like a jerk and called you-‘she stopped herself from saying the next bit. ‘Well not a very nice word.’ ‘Oh, so are you Jason? I know a lot about you,’ Daniel smiled pleasantly but Alex could hear the hostility in his voice. Obviously he still didn’t like Jason. Alex wouldn’t be surprised if he had been keeping tabs on Jase since he got out of prison. Daniel turned back to Alex. ‘So how about meeting at that little café down the street tomorrow for lunch? I would love to hear how your life’s been since… Well you know juvie.’ ‘Uhh… Sure, I’ll see you there,’ she pretended to yawn. ‘Sorry Danny but I need to get to bed. I have to work in the morning.’ ‘I understand. I should probably get home to the Mrs.,’ he reached into his pocket and pulled out a card, which he offered to Alex. ‘You’re married?’ she exclaimed, pocketing the card. He was only a year older than her, twenty-two! ‘Yeah, lovely lady. You remember Kelly?’ Alex stiffened. ‘Of course, I remember Kelly.’ She turned to Jase and asked, ’will you walk me home?’
