When I use compatibility mode, it doesn't help. I tried the patch at

but it keeps asking me to load the CD during the patching. I put the CD in and click OK, but it continues to ask for the CD.
I'd like to try the patch at

but that site no longer appears to be active. Anyone have a link to that patch or have other suggestions? My Klingon side craves total domination over the galaxy!

It will work just fine from there. I am running on XP pro without issue using this method.

Also, I've been playing with the Ultimate Mod 3, which has its own exe file (you'll need the CD)

However, there must be hardware issues to cope with in addition to the O/S side. I absolutely could not get this (and several other older games) to work on my new rig, with 2Gb Ram, E6600 duo core, and Ge8800GTX. Bah!
