or maybe because I'm playing the 360 version.
That would probably be it, seeing as you don't have R2 .
Well, I pressed the button that corresponds to R2 in every other situation.

How do you do a decent rabona? i was trying it on training and most the time it just skys it in the air, is getting one perfect just luck or are there ant tips you could give me?

And the holding R2 on freekicks has realy helped me, in training I was trying it and they went in or the keeper pulled off a great save nearly every other turn

Rabonas are very hard to score, at least from outside the box. I usually find they curl off to the right rather than go sky high though. Theres not a huge amount of advice I can give you except to practice them lots in free training. Set the play again button to 'select' and keep trying different powers and directions until you get a feel for what works and what doesn't.

everytime ive scored from a Rabona it has been from short range. Id love to score a 30 yard Rabona though, that would be magic

You can, just hold L1 after you press shoot.

re: Tricks, Skills and Freekicks Tutorial Thread #2

I had a typical Thierry Henry magic moment earlier.

I picked up the ball down the left with Fabregas, who played a nice dink ball to Henry who was at the corner of the box. He moved a little to the side to take a touch with his back to goal, and his touch was amazing.

He stretched his leg out to the side and flicked it up in the air with his toe. Then Carvalho pressured him in the back but he stayed strong. I pressed shoot and Henry tried a what would have been amazing overhead kick, but Carvalho nicked it away just before it left Henry's boot.

I was gutted, it would have been the best goal ever

I agree with others that using R2 applies some wicked curl to Free-kicks, but you must remeber that the "shot bar" should be at an appropriate level and that you hold left/right.

Also players with better levels of set piece ability are obviously going to be better at performing from free-kicks (e.g, Nakamura, Juninho, R.Carols, Adriano, Park C.Y, Beckham, Ronaldinho, Pirlo and Lampard).

...And one last piece of advice is that players with higher/stronger arrows (e.g, Red/Orange/Yellow) are more likely to strike the ball better.

Today in Training Mode i hit some fantastic shots with Ronaldinho & Diego!!!

re: Tricks, Skills and Freekicks Tutorial Thread #2

Hmm I just did something quite weird with Ronaldinho. I'll try my best to explain it.

I was just about to do the Marseille Roulette with R3 but as I was twirling the stick round it I accidently pressed R3 down and it did this really weird pass. Anybody know what this is? It looked like Ronaldinho was putting his left foot on the ball then quickly taking it off and passing it with his right

And also, xpronic said that whilst doing the Elastico you can do the no look pass. Is this true?

re: Tricks, Skills and Freekicks Tutorial Thread #2

Sounds weird, I might give that a try.

Yeah, you can sort of do the no-look pass when attempting the elastico. It only happens when the player fluffs it up though, the ball goes out at a 90-degree direction to him in the direction of his favoured foot (ie, a right footed player moving left-right would pass downwards).
