I always use R2 for freekicks, used it in PES5 aswell, although I would also hold up or down, depending how far out it was. Don't press up or down this time round though, just R2, a direction for the curl and then hold Triangle (seems to put more power on them). Scored quite a few freekicks now, right in the top corner.

It definitely made a difference in PES5 and it looks to be the same for PES6 as well. Check out this video showing showing real time freekicks scored using R2.
I didn't hold up, down, triangle, or x. I just held R2 put the power bar to halfway or just over it and held left or right to apply curl....and the results on some of them is incredible, especially the Beckham 30m super curler.

Moving on to a different subject, anyone tried the rabona shot fake yet? I was messing about in training when I did it, but was surprised to see Messi flick the ball about 10 feet in the air after faking to shoot! Is this a glitch or some mad combo?

For shooting from about 25 yards how much power would you need to get it over the wall?

Lol look at the video. It shows the power I used at the different distances from 18m to 30m. Half way on the power bar is all you really need from 25 yards.

Great find X, I really must try this out myself. Looks like a really easy way of scoring them.

Haha, its just a funny glitch that happens sometimes (hasn't actually happened to me yet, but I've seen a few threads like it on pesfan). Looks cool though .

By altering your attack/defence settings (look under the Mendieta trick in shooting for more details) to all out attack when you are in stoppage time at the end of the game and a goal down.

After reading some responses on pesfan, it seems that your player has to be on either the red or yellow form arrows when taking freekicks from 25m+.

Shame that, I thought R2 did all the work lol. I would suggest holding up + R2 + the direction you want the ball to go from 25m+ if your freekick taker isn't on a yellow or red form arrow.

Only exception to that is with Beckham, Juninho, and Recoba. They are just immense at freekicks!

re: Tricks, Skills and Freekicks Tutorial Thread #2

I held R2 while taking some free kicks with David Beckham in training, and I didn't notice much difference. It might have something to do with the form arrow, or maybe because I'm playing the 360 version.

That would probably be it, seeing as you don't have R2 .

The form arrows thing is quite interesting though. Does it work with any old kicker, or is it ones that have a high swerving stat anyway, so a red or yellow form arrow would bump them up above 95, say? If Beckham and Juninho can both do it whatever their form, that might be it.

re: Tricks, Skills and Freekicks Tutorial Thread #2

Swerve and freekick accuracy play an important part. Players with 90+ for those stats are almost certain to score from 28m - 16m whatever their form using R2. Players that have 95+ for those stats should be able to score with their eyes closed lol.
