I'm a paid member to Fileplanet, So I pre-loaded the game yesterday and FP unlocked it for me today

The demo is fantastic, I don't even have a great PC and it always ran over 30FPS and stuttered only once at the start.

Some sites like Softpedia were offering the free fully playable demo for download without having to have anything unlocked at all, so essentially subscribing to FilePlanet means you pay for something that others offer for free.

In this case. I hardly think that monkey subscribed to FilePlanet for the sake of this demo

Of course not, I'm just saying that everything I've seen there has been available elsewhere, although I'm sure there are some things exclusive to the site, I just haven't seen them.

They have tons of Exclusives man, Most of which are betas but the download speed I get from them alone is worth it. Its just as cheap as Xbox Live Gold for a year and I usually let trusted people use the account or participate in the betas I'm not interested in. Last year during the Battlefield2142 beta, I got 2 extra beta keys and gave 2 away to random Neoseekers.
And exclusive to Fileplanet, I got to preload the demo yesterday. I downloaded the "Big" demo yesterday at around 9pm, I turned on my PC today and it was ready to play in about 1 minute. I was playing before you probably knew it was even out


How is everyones PC doing with the demo? I've tried tweaking mine to get the best settings and I'm just surprised how smooth it runs since my Processor sucks, I just wish I could get the resolution a little higher.

With the beta ForceWare drivers Nvidia released today, I'm always above 40 FPS with everything maxed out, which is a pleasant surprise for me. I had my fingers crossed that I'd be fine, but from what I'd heard and seen I was afraid I might drop under 30 during intense portions, but I run it great. Though, the requirements are still pretty damn demanding.

I waited for almost 2 ours on fileplanet and ended up getting under 100k. I ended up downloading it from a private ftp at around 500k-700k. Great demo, definitely going to get it tomorrow.

1.84 gig? for a demo? JESUS CHRIST!! i was gonna download it but my newly acquired broadband connection doesnt activate until tomorrow and till then im stuck with my 56k dial up connection. good job really cos its stopped me from doing something i didnt want to do. im getting the game when its released on friday no matter what so im glad that i can now wait until friday to play it properly instead of getting the demo and ruining my experience of playing the full game properly.

1280x1024, 4xAA/16xAF, maxed out - lag free; great gameplay and fantastic graphics. I'm getting this game for sure!
I can post some screens if anyone's interested.

any chance those of you with the demo could post the specs of your pc, what settings youve played the demo on and how well it runs. give those of us that havent played the demo an idea of how well our rigs might run it.

and has anyone tried playing it with a 7900GS? thats my card and id love to know what kind of settings it might be able to manage. thanks.

I have Windowed Mode, Vsync, Force Global Lighting and DX10 Off. All other settings are on and on High, EAX Sound and Reverb are on, and 16x AF forced through my Video card at 1280x720.
I never go under 30FPS, I get as high as about 55-60FPS. I use to get a stutter at the beginning of the level but I applied the ATI Hotfix and it fixed that.

what kind of a card is the ATI X1950PRO ultimate? any idea what kind of geforce card it would be roughly equivalent to?

X1950 is more or less the best model out of the ATI X series. It is one down from the HD series and since the HD series is supposedly equal to the Geforce 8 series you can safely say the X1950 is wedged between Geforce 7800 and above
