Nice one! Would it be possible for you to try your pocket station with your normal version first though?

re: Just Ordered Japanese YFM Limited Edition with PocketStation

yea i will definitely try the PocketStation on the English version first, it was the main reason i got it.

I just got the Limited Edition too cuz i was wondering if the limited edition allowed you to get special cards and also for sentimental value.

@ Duncan, apparently you can do something called PS1 Hot Swapping where you take out a regular PS1 game and put in a ROM or Japanese game while it loads essentially. I, of course, hope that I can play it on my USA/Canada PS1 or PS2.

Another thing i might do is translate the Japanese text in the game and make a sort of script, letting everyone see the true story of YFM (of course i dont know kanji, id just be using an online translator...not very accurate but might be better than nothin).

^you might be right about needing to mod my PSOne or get a game enhancer but the game enhancer isnt very expensive.

re: Just Ordered Japanese YFM Limited Edition with PocketStation

alright, i a lot of news on this subject.

i got my Limited Edition Japanese YFM and Limited Edition PocketStation in the mail on Friday.

I believe that you cannot play any import games without at least hot swapping. This is the process of using a US game or whatever your system plays and then switching it at the right moment with the import game. Ask me for more details.

I got YFM to get to the Konami screen using this method but then an Anti-Mod protection screen comes up (blocking the hot swap and mod chip methods).

I found a way around this. I burned a Gameshark off of the internet, hot swapped it, and inputted a code that allows me to bypass that message. Ask me for details on this process.

Essentially, after 3 days, I sucessfully got my Japanese YFM to play! Let me know if you want to play it, I can step you through the process of burning a copy.

The big news at the moment was that I was right about an additional option on the options menu in the Japanese version. It essentially loads data onto your PocketStation. I come to the conclusion that the non-Japanese versions of YFM do not have the PocketStation feature.

also, you save on the US version doesnt carry over to the Japanese version. i will be replaying the game without stepping foot in free duel to test that theory.

I am considering translating the instruction manual, campaign and other things using a kanji to english converter.

Another thing I was wondering was if someone would be willing to purchase a PocketStation so that we could test out the Communication Card Uniting feature. I can provide you with the game, all you would need would be your own PocketStation.
