HDMI Question |
|
I'll be getting my PS3 in the near future and I wanted to know something. There's an HDMI port in the laptop I recently purchased and I was wondering if I plugged a PS3 into it, would it show up on the laptop monitor? The screen displays 1080p content beautifully, so it'd be nice to play PS3 in that. The laptop itself uses Windows Vista Home Premium, if that makes any difference.

Hmm... This is a tough question.
Can you check if it's an HDMI-in or HDMI-out port? If it's HDMI-in, it will work, but if it's HDMI-out, then it was made to output HDMI to a bigger screen. -------------------

It just says 'HDMI' over the port on the computer and in the product specifications.

In that case, I truly have no idea.

Not really, HDMI ports on laptops are new to me. As in I have never actually had the chance to fiddle with one. Look up the model number online and see what the info is there.
Only other thing I could really tell you is to go into the control panel > system > hardware > device manager and find the ports properties. Or you could go control panel > Administrative tools > computer management > Device manager but the result is the same. Mayber under display > settings > advanced. Or if you're really lucky there will be an icon just for that port in the control panel. Again not having actually fiddled with one I just don't know. All I can do is make guesses. Worst comes to worse you can always try it. If it is out only it just won't work. Of course you will have to spend at least $15 on the cable to find out that way. ------------------- ![]() Education Forum|Books & Literature My Brute

re: HDMI Question |

hmmm. it would most likely be an output. just get a cable and plug it into a TV to see if it works. or plug your ps3 in it
They should just make EVERYTHING USB 2.0 connected that would make everything easier ------------------- Black sabbath were OWNAGE [img][/img]

After 3 calls and an online chat with HP, someone finally told me it was an HDMI-out. Oh well, thanks for your help everyone.
