Currently, the service as it is as well as Marketplace and the Account segments on the Xbox website are greenlit, but Matchmaking currently has a red light beside it in relation to “potential phishing attempts” on Modern Warfare 2. It reads: “Users may receive potential phishing attempts via title specific messaging while playing Modern Warfare 2. “We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience” It comes following a week of horrowing problems for PlayStation Network and the now week-long outage it has lasted. Sony last night confirmed that hackers had gained access to PSN account information, such as names, addresses, passwords and, potentially, credit card details. PSN was taken offline last week following the detection of an “external intrusion”. XBL Status

Holy hell man, your biggest concern in this fiasco is to play games? There is a much bigger problem here than you not being able to play your precious games. If they left any trails they will be caught so don't worry about that. Unfortunately there will be two more of "them" to take his place. Sony needs to step up and make their services as safe as possible. They had next to no security on their infrastructure from what we've seen. They allowed our information to be stolen due to their lax security. I am currently clearing up an unauthorized internet purchase made on my CC I had on file with PSN made about a week ago. This is a major world wide company where it should of had some of the best security known to man... they make computers, they are fully aware of the risks yet they chose to ignore it. This has been a massive fail on Sony's part, one that they may never fully recover from. This situation will leave a lasting blemish on their moniker. I hope when it comes back up they have tight security, and that they separate the store/info data from the online play data. Then if there was a problem with the store they could shut it off and the online play could continue and vise-versa. This is their chance to implement any ideas they had been developing. I am hopeful that when it comes back online that it will be redesigned and much different looking. -------------------

MW2 gets hacked all the time and this is a message across the screen every so often with a websites name. You would have to be an idiot to vist it.

With the unbanning of all the KV's this means all your Jtags will be unbanned as well, however booting them will still result in a near instant ban! It would be clever if Microsoft did this to inspire the people deprived of PS3 to reuse the server, however this seems more like a human error. Regardless of the situation, someone is going to be in a lot of trouble for this one! It's not as though it's our fault that PSN was hacked, nor was it an event that we could've foreseen. 	There is absolutely no way that Sony is orchestrating all this just so they put in some new features. I mean really, what does it take to do it legitimately? They give us some warning, shut down the servers for a day or two, and then everything's back to normal. If you believe these rumors, then Sony has pissed off thousands of consumers, suffered lawsuits and loss of sales, all to install a few new features illegitimately. It just doesn't make sense. And the whole password advice is for your other accounts. If you have your email or anything else protected with the same password as your PSN account, change it now. -------------------

To be honest not such a bad thing on Microsoft's part considering they have the infrastructure in place to ban modified consoles the second they log in and to ban anyone that partakes in anything that breaks the rules. Microsoft has a far better system in place to keep their network safe, so yeah not a big deal..
