After Star Wars 1313's trademark was abandoned by Disney last year, we felt a disturbance in the Force. It felt as though millions of voices cried out in pain, only to be suddenly silenced by the trademark being abandoned. Thankfully for fans who really want to see 1313 happen, the dream may not be dead just yet. Kathleen Kennedy from Lucasfilm sat down with Slash Film to talk about the canned live-action show Star Wars: Underworld, only to mention it along with 1313.
Neither Underworld or 1313 have been completely canned, as Kennedy says that both projects are something Lucasfilm would like to explore if given the chance. The company feels the material for both projects is "gold" as they continue to look them over and discuss how they might develop Underworld and 1313 more. Lucasfilm "definitely wants to" develop 1313 and Underworld further, potentially even bringing the live-action television series and game to life.
While it's far from any confirmation that Star Wars 1313 will ever see the light of day, it's good to know Lucasfilm hasn't given up just yet. Since Star Wars is a Disney property now, they have the ultimate say over what happens to the franchise. Mickey Mouse may have let the trademark lapse, but we can always hope that they're open to letting Star Wars 1313 happen eventually.
