Update 2: Like some have been guessing Namco's countdown ended up revealing Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers, confirmed for Japan, Europe and South America. Saint Seiya never really caught on in North America, unfortunately. Brave Soliders is a fighting game, I guess?
Update: This morning the site was updated with a countdown and a picture of Earth amidst the starry sky. Err, well, it could be any blue planet now that I think about it. There are no noticable Earth features from what I can tell. Hopefully the site will keep updating a bit more each day this week!
A mysterious teaser site has popped up from Namco Bandai with no countdown and virtually no hints. Atop a starry background are the words "NEW TITLE" along with "PlayStation 3" which only serves to confuse the matter even more. What could Namco Bandai be teasing for PlayStation 3 when we're so speedily approaching the turn of the next generation of consoles?
The only hints we have so far are the starry background itself, which could imply something to do with space, but could also just as well represent any number of random themes from any game in particular. Then there's the URL for the teaser site, which ends in "sbs" and could be initials for the as yet unannounced PS3 title.
Rumor mongers were quick to associate the game with a title teased in 2010 named Strelka Stories, from CyberConnect 2. A piece of concept art from Strelka Stories shows a character looking up into a starry sky, which is reminiscent of the background but hardly confirmation. If said title was some sort of RPG, the long development and the reason why the game can't just jump to another platform makes sense. Let's not count our eggs before they hatch, however.
Since there's no countdown and no sort of ARG to dig into, what we see is what we get for whatever "sbs" may be. Hopefully we'll have more information for everyone soon.
