Nope.
Before you install the patch it tells you that trophies can only be earned with new save files. Using savefiles from before the patch disable trophies.

That's the case with most games that got such patches (GTA IV, FALLOUT 3, UNCHARTED 1, BIOSHOCK etc.). Sucks, right?

I don't really try hard enough for platinum's so i'm quite content with my 8 plats thus far. I will get 9 soon with WWE 12 though. It's a very easy plat though.

No but there are a couple places that have infinite spawning enemies so you'd have to rack up as many kills as you can during those areas.
I'm still undecided as to whether or not to try to plat the game. A part of me would love to get it as it would be nice to have all MGS plats but another part of me is screaming "Are you *bleep*ing mad??!!".
The biggest hurdle for me to overcome on the road to plat is NOT the Big Boss run or even the Chicken emblem. It's the 8 playthroughs (probably 9 for me now that I've beaten it already without caring too much about the emblems). I've never beaten a game 8-9 times. It doesn't matter how good a game is after 9 playthroughs it will get boring and I really don't want to start hating the franchise.
I think the 5 playthroughs I did of MGS2 is the most I've ever beaten a game. But I love MGS2 so it didn't really bother me (heck I think I'd happily beat it again). MGS4 however is good but not as good as MGS2*. So I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to go through it 8 more times.

I'll do one more playthrough and then see how I feel about doing it all again. Heck I might even go for the chicken emblem just to get that stupid thing out of the way.


*In My Opinion.

Because I'm odd. I find it very hard to go back to a game I've already beaten. Usually when I get a platinum it's because I got in 'that zone' whereby I'm so determined to plat it that I won't stop playing it till I have the plat. It's like I know that if I start playing something else I'll never be in the mood to go back to it.
I'm guessing that 9/10 platinums that I have are from playing the game obsessively till I get platinum.
MGS2 and Peace Walker are a perfect example of that. Played them both non-stop till the plat popped.
I think the last 2 games that I platted after a long period away from it is Bayonetta and R&C:ACiT but that was purely because I had no broadband at the time and had nothing else to play.
I was determined to plat Tomb Raider: Anniversary but then the MGS patch came along and so I started playing MGS. Now I have zero desire to go back to TR.

If I want to plat MGS4 it's either all or nothing. It's silly I know but my brain is an odd thingamajig at times.

Darsh got lucky and pulled it from the box first try XD But i might know an easy strategy to get you a ton of points when we go for it again. What DLC packs have you got?
