Is anyone ready for PS4?

I'm for one doesn't want this generation of consoles to be over. With Wii U and Xbox 720 coming out. Sony is forced to release their latest gen in order to stay in the competition. I understand it's business but there's still plenty of room for PS3 to develop. I'm happy with the current graphics that the PS3 offers. It's a 660 Canadian dollar console when I bought it back in 2006. I want the thing to at least have a 10-15 year life-cycle! 6 years went by so fast that I'm just not ready for another one. What I'm most afraid is that after PS4 is out, developers will probably stop making PS3 games and shift their attention on the new hardware. Jumping late on the bandwagon makes you miss out all the best games. Also if you're late for buying a PS3 and news came out that PS4 is coming in 2013! How would it make you feel? So if I'm committed to invest in another console. I better buy one once it come out or don't buy one at all. Or you can wait till the second or third year. But don't wait too long, like I say new technology is coming out every year and as for for consoles, they're mostly 6 years in their lifespan. P.S Do we really care or want Avatar like graphics running in real time for the new console or we're happy for what we have now?

What frustrates me the most is that if I want to buy the latest game I have to buy new console when the old one became obsolete! Why can't they be like DVD players? Bluray came out in 6 years and movie studios still publish DVDs and they didn't like "oh bluray came out let's make DVDs obsolete!" DVD players are cheap and affordable and you can still buy DVDs and doesn't force you to buy a bluray player because DVDs still around!
I love games but buying every new gen just to be able to buy and play new games is rather an expensive hobby! I don't know what to do with old consoles? I still have a PS2.

TBH I wont be forking out £400 on a PS4 or any next gen console, because I'm happy with my fatty PS3 which I've had since 2006. I'll only get it if it's really necessary or my current console get's fcuked.

If they have the same ridiculous pricing as the PS3 did on release, you can bet your ass I'll be waiting a year or two before jumping on the bandwagon. WHen the PS2 came out, I didn't buy it until we were two years away from the PS3's release. I don't care what's new and hot; I care about making my purchases last, and for affordability, neither of which I can get by purchasing the PS4 right out of the gate.

Not to mention the PS4 probably won't be backwards compatable.

If I learned anything since last gen its that its rarely worth taking a leap of fate on the the first year. Most systems dont really have a good line up the first year, and after spending so much you get stuck with maybe one or two games waiting till things pick up. You dont even know if it will get any games worth buying it for in the first place.

I didnt buy my ps3 untill before the last price drop, and with all the game I missed this gen combined with those from previous gens I have plenty to keep me busy. I also play mostly niche series that after the 3ds and vita will likely stay mostly on handhelds and by the time there are any worthwhile games the ps4/orbit will be more affordable. Also like 4 aces I might slowly shift to pc at least for multiplats.

I wont buy PS4 till after the first year. No game catalog would be able to contain me on release.

I won't get one simply because of the same problematic in the current gen will still exist in the next. Plus, if by some miracle I'd want to get a PS4, I'd obviously wait for the "slim" version of it.

There's no questioning the fact that I was ignorantly seduced by all the glitz and glamour of the PS3 when it released. I thought that I just had to have one, as soon as I could. Obviously once I had it, I had nothing to play on it for at least four months.

Taking that lesson to heart, I know there is no point in being an early adopter of new consoles.
