Just played the Syndicate demo... I want to love it but I don't feel they pulled off rebooting the series. My favourite thing has to be the general look of the game. Although Aeirou said it hurts his eyes which I can understand.
I'm gonna have to pass on the game for now anyway because it's banned here, but if I go overseas at some stage I might pick it up if it's cheap. Just out of respect of the original and the theme of the game.
Let me add to this.
After I was done watching my niece, I gave it a thourgh going over in the demo just to examine it's general style. I can not determine story and such based on the demo.
As always, I'll start with what I liked:
-4 person coop -cosmetic unlockables -team-themed
Now for what I didn't like.
As jbh mentioned, I commented that the game hurt my eyes. I have a stigmatism and wear glasses and bright distorted colors hurt my eyes because I can't focus on it very well.
The font and hud display are done in 4-tone layering to make the visuals looks like future hacking, hi-tech, and computerized. The HUD bobs and shifts when you turn and move so some of it ends up off screen half the time. It's layered in white, red, green, and blue with white on the top. The benefits of this is that the white is not as hard to read over other bright colors in the setting because it has a distinct shadow.. but it makes it very blurry and unfocused.
The second thing I didn't like are the hitboxes for targeting. The boxes are smaller than most shooters and it's hard to tell if you're doing damage sometimes. It would take more practice to get used to.
Graphics - they aren't bad, but they aren't awe-inspiring. The game adopts the generic future look where everything is made of metal and looks very sleek. This, unfortunately, means that the game features a lot of silvers, greys, and blacks. The enemies are predominately white and grey. The areas are futuristic looking and the future looks a bleak black, silver, grey and white. In the level's I played, it was storming as well.. so the entire time it was pretty stuck on one tone. The hud, as I mentioned, is white and layered. This would brighten it up a bit but white and grey looks as stormy and bleak as grey itself.
Coop - You get 4 people. The game doesn't start with less. At different checkpoints throughout the level you are required to all stand in a room until you can move on... tedious but I can see why. My real issue with the multiplayer is they could have made it better with the four players... but it's actually not only easy because you have four people... all four players can revive and heal without that being limited and it can be spammed. So for the parts where your team is being swarmed, you can just have one person spam healing everyone while the other three players spray bullets. This isn't going to be a hard game even on hard without limiting the heals.
Anyway, I'm tired of typing... so I'll let jbh go over some of the things he liked about it. You can tell everyone about the Dart + rifle thing you were using. I'm sure seeing through walls wont make the game easier lol.
I didn't like it that much. Though while jbh says the single player could be fun/better, I think I'd be better off buying Deus Ex: Human Revolution for cheap.
I platinum'd Deus Ex: HR and the dlc. While I was out in the game store today thinking about what to play next.. I found a used copy on the shelf and almost bought it again just because it was so much fun to play. Fortunately, my hoebag stopped me before I senseless spent my money.
I have a stigmatism and wear glasses and bright distorted colors hurt my eyes because I can't focus on it very well.
So would it be a good thing that I'm a little colorblind, or would that make it worse?
Well.. I guess that would depend on what color you see in place of red, blue, or green. It might just make it a little more blurry.. in which case you're just be in the same boat is me.
For *bleep* sake. I've been offline for 2 months and today I finally get my broadband back only to discover that PSN is 'down for maintenance' until tomorrow. Great timing Sony!
You said you were thinking about buying it again to play it again....why would you do that if you hadn't traded it in in the first place?
Because when I fanboy <3 music or a game.. I always want more of that thing even if I already own it.
If I like a CD (I still buy CDs) then I will look for the limited LP Vinyl and a possible live show. Sometimes I follow the band like they did in the 80s and 90s. I have a bunch of tickets for Revis, Paramore, and A Day to Remember.
If I like a game, I will buy the DLC and artwork. I bought a Shepard hoodie from Mass Effect that looks like his armor. I also have lithographs from Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2, and Assasin's Creed.
My Dirty Harry wall art looks a bit out of place next to some of my other things.. but you cant be hatin on Clint Eastwood.
I have to complain - Mostly because I have OCD - that your games are upsidedown and not in alphabetical order. Knowing such an outrage exists is rather killing me. -_-
They aren't upside down. They're on a wall mount and the picture is sideways.
I used to have them organized like this
(Not Plat'd 0-Z) (Plat'd 0-Z)
But I started running out of room because my blu-rays are on the same rack.. so the top 3 games on the left of the pic aren't even in slots... they're just resting on the mount.
Red 9 I think you should get Skyrim, it improves on Oblivion in pretty much every aspect. I don't know if you have Dark Souls but that's worth considering too, it's definitely more accessible than Demons' Souls was and the open world makes everything feel connected. Demons' Souls areas made the game feel a tad disjointed for my liking. Deus Ex is brilliant too.
Whenever I get into talking about Elder Scrolls with people on forums, it always seems to boil down to this:
"Skyrim's bogus, get Oblivion, it's better."
"Oblivion's crap, get Morrowind, it's better."
"Morrowind is crap, get Oblivion." (just basically loops around on itself)
So the impression I end up getting is that the Elder Scrolls just isn't worth my time. It's ironic, though; I loved the crap out of Oblivion, with well over 250 hours put into it altogether, but apparently Oblivion is crap and I should be playing Morrowind.
Frankly I'm a little hesitant getting Skyrim for PS3. As far as I've heard, the PS3 version is so riddled with bugs and glitches that it's nigh unplayable.
Turn off auto-saves and manually save before and after every quest. When you do the thieves guild quests in Riften, keep a save before you start the first one and leave it like that.
So basically you'll role 2 save files like this
Accept a quest, save 1. Complete the quest, Save 2. - More realistically, Accept every quest you can find, Save 1. Turn in a quest, Save 2. Turn in another quest, Save 2. So on and so on.
THE BIGGEST problem people have is with the thieves guild, but I platinum'd the whole game with one character and no real issues. I had the lag problem start in at about level 45 but when I turned off auto-saves and deleted all but two saves, it stopped completely. - I think the people who complain now aren't managing their saves the right way or forget to save often.
I never usually make more than two characters on Elder Scrolls games. I only bothered to make a second character on Oblivion after 100%'ing my main character's game with OCD-like determination.
I think you'll be okay, honestly. As long as you are save with your saves than even if you experience a glitch you can just reload.

I've been posting on the gamefly app and psnprofiles. Mainly because most of my recent topics here have bombed. I mean, in chat you guess discuss it and you'll talk about it.. but if it's on the forum you guys are lazy -_-

As seems to be the current vogue, I bought Deus Ex today as well. Not actually played it yet but i've noticed theres some dlc available for it, namely the 'The Missing Link'. Question is, is this dlc supposed to be played after completing it, once i've done a few missions beforehand, before starting the main game, etc,?.
Not that it really matters, i'm just curious. I may not even get it yet. Depends if I enjoy the main game.
In the story mode, there is a scene where Adam *spoiler free* goes off the grid and reappears, shrugging off Frank's questions. This was suppose to be a whole other quest hub city, but the developers ran out of time. They created "The Missing Link" to fill in the time gap where Adam disappears. It is not the questing hub they didn't finish, instead it is a 5 hour quest line. It's still fun to play, although it feel a little more limited than the main game. The boss fight in it is better than any of those in the actual game.
Also, The Missing Link will not be included in the main story. The story does not alter to include the DLC. It is a separate campaign that can be accessed in the menu. The DLC should be played after the main campaign or you wont understand it. Is it worth 14.99 USD? It's longer than journey for the same price and it expands upon the story of Adam Jenson. I only recommend it if you really like Deus Ex: HR. Otherwise you will feel as though it was a waste because it really isn't more than 5 hours.
The trophies in the DLC are still filling my top 5 ultra rare box on PSNP.
Itsuno clarifies, "you'll be able to use the grab function in other ways, not just for the bosses. You can pick up an explosive barrel, throw it, and then shoot it with an arrow to take out a whole bunch of enemies. Another way to use it is to pick up enemies and throw them off a cliff. There's actually a quest where you have to grab somebody and bring them somewhere."
Have any of the longer term Neo members ever gone back and read their first posts? I've just been reading my first posts in the Monster Hunter forum and all I can say is 'wow'. What an annoying little skidmark I am was!
I not really a "long time" member, but with my post cost.. I'm almost bipolar. I realize my opinions sometimes make me look like an egotistical prick... and I'm okay with that.

So... what the *bleep* happened at Sony? PS+ subs just got Infamous 2, Little Big Planet 2, Virtual Fighter 5, Warhammer 40k space marines, RaNClank All 4 One, and another game or two for free. I thought it was a trick so I was suspicious.. like PICK ONE AND PAY FOR THE REST.. but no, I downloaded like 4 of them for free and then my hard drive vomited.

I was watching all the new game videos on PS3 earlier... here was my basic reaction.
Assassin's Creed 3: "Oh cool.. looks exactly like I was expecting it to."
Tomb Raider: "A lot of Uncharted looking stuff going on.. more focus on the climbing in the videos though"
Beyond Two Souls: "KILLING PEOPLE ISN'T GOOD FOR THE BABY, JUNO!"
The Last of Us: ..... ......... ........ I'm buying this game.
Seriously, in the last of us video.. I wasn't impressed until the combat portion. He starts with 4 bullets.. this tells me that the game has more focus on playing smart rather than just senselessly killing everyone. (Imagine if ND adds a crushing mode and you have low ammo.. ) The things the AI enemies react to and how they moved was seriously impressive and a lot more organized than other games.
Enemy reacts to: gun pointed at him gun not pointed at him your movement sound of an empty gun hostages/hostages react if the gun is pointed away from them sound you, from across the building (they see how a person actually sees.. not just a cone with a vision cut of 2 feet away) danger: they scream out

I had a similar issue under different circumstances... I had downloaded a Prototype 1 60 minute trial from the story and deleted it. Then my friend gave me a code for get the game for free download off PSN and it wouldn't let me because of the 60 minute trial. I would be downloading anymore trials because it voids free downloads from any other sources, I guess.
It's strange that you only got the 1hr when there are no such trials.

to be honest, I didn't notice her face in picture three for about five minutes. She looks attractive but those weapons are packed in and pushed up pretty tight.. that has to be uncomfortable at least a little bit. What are they paying her?
