It's a good thing I upgraded rifle to max after I upgraded the mine then. I find that the mine is more effective than grenades since it holds up to 5 charges when fully upgraded, so one mine is essentially equivalent of 5 grenades. Also, mine doesn't explode until zombies are next to it, so I can lay one down, lure in the horde and watch the carnage.

Admittedly the mines are superior in firepower, but the reason I didn't mention them is because I didn't find them as cost efficient. Yes they excel in crowd control over grenades and flares, but the instances you could use them to their maximum potential is around level 4 and onward. That's all money that could be used for the SMG and the shotgun, which works out cheaper when you buy a couple of flares and let loose with the bullets.

Dynamite on the other hand is one I'd recommend (too bad it's not until so late that you get it), the blast radius is excellent, and really helps out on the last levels, so much so that I can easily justify spending so much on each unit. Combine dynamite with a couple of flares and the launcher or blade cannon as your heavy hitting weapons, and there's not much that's going to be left standing.

If you've played the final stage (I'm assuming you have), you'll know exactly why I save as much as possible for ammo and upgrades on the real damage dealers.

Sounds about what my set-up was like, I try not to carry more than three of the flares and grenades, as anything over that seemed kinda wasteful.

Oh, almost forgot to add one thing about the King of Looters trophy - cars also count, which can make things a bit more difficult if you're looking to go for efficient kills, especially when you're using explosives and a car starts the timer to explode. Not fun getting blasted while looting and the zombies are all over you.

I'm not after the King of Looters trophy, I think my plan is to complete the game on Grim, then go through on Braindead find all the loot, then attack Morbid. At least then I should know the game quite well.

Good plan. The advanced armour pieces are something that will be sorely needed too (I'm pretty sure they also count towards the King of Looters trophy). I haven't tested this fully yet, but I suspect once you have the best available set for Exogear armour, your melee attacks on Grim and Morbid in co-op should be enough to put a few of the slightly stronger zombies down.

Actually, I'll test that now seeing as I've just restored my old save files for Dead Nation. Hoping to have Platinum number 21 by the end of today. =D

Also redneonfish, I got asked to do a shift tomorrow, so I won't be able to join you in co-op tomorrow, but from 7:30pm (GMT+10 timezone) on Thursday onward I'll be free pretty much all day, everyday. Sorry about that. =(

redneonfish, I managed to confirm that the Exogear does in fact help, but only slightly, so now I'm using a full Protogear set in Grim (long story short, my fat PS3 YLoD'd on the very last mission just as I was about to enter the end zone), which has worked out great. I didn't get touched by a single zombie in the first two missions.

I actually liked fallout 3 over New Vegas. Sure the story was short.. but the world was better designed. Even the corpses in 3 told a story.

Evolution When did your PS3 YLOD? It's annoying as hell... Mine's done it 6 times...

jbh How close are you to the Fallout plat? I really need to get into that game again...

and in other news, wooo! I got the Burnout Paradise platinum, probably the easiest platinum I've got. The game is amazing tough!
