Courtney, TimeShift is a pretty average game but it's not bad. Just quite linear.

The reference to Las Vegas was probably Fallout: New Vegas. There's Fallout 3 which came before New Vegas, very similar game. It has less features but most people believe it had a better atmosphere and story. if he doesn't already have it I would get him that, there is also a Game of the Year edition that comes with all the expansions and add-ons.

It should be cheap as it was released in 2008, the Game of the Year Edition is only $10 more and it comes with about $35 worth of content.

Thanks for the input. I played and beat it. I thought it was a pretty decent title, but I wouldn't play it again.

I'm currently playing fallout 3 GOTY edition (I'm a little behind I know, but I was able to pick the game up for cheap.) I've been neglecting to buy this game for a while and I'm liking what I'm playing so far.

I also got Dragon Age Origins. Is it me or does this game have some learning curve to it? There are some things I just do not understand yet. Oh well

Anyway. In a few days I'm going to trade in some games and hopefully pick up mass effect 2 or dead space 2. Which one should I get since I can only get one? I was a HUGE fan of the first dead space, but I also really want to try out Mass effect 2, even though I have not played the first one. Suggestions?

Two_Step it does have a learning curve in the way of Damage Stats and calculating all the item bonuses... Actually hurts my head... I would also advise that if you're playing a Mage you might want to restart, playing a Mage the first time is quite complicated. And all the good Mage items in the game you have to buy at merchants. Which can be annoying when the game doesn't have respawning enemies :/

Rogues deal the most damage if you build them well, but Warriors are very simple to play and get good results from.

I would get Mass Effect 2, simply for the reason that it's longer, has replay value. And it seems a better game tbh. I got it recently but haven't played it yet as I lack HDD space

I'm started out as a warrior. I thought I would go with a two handed sword route but that doesn't seem like it will get me very far. I'm honestly thinking about making a new character since the warrior does not seem to be all that great. I might try out the rogue.

I'm leaning towards Mass Effect 2. I'm just worried that I will be a little confused with the story since I didn't play the first one, and will I lose any benefits by not having a save file from the first Mass Effect?

I suggest everyone stay far away from SOCOM 4.

I bought it because I'm a disgruntled fgt who can't keep his hands away from something with SOCOM on the box.

Seriously, don't buy it.

The campaign difficulties have only slight variations. The stealth missions leave you no room to be flexible. Characters always rest their chin on the wall they're hiding behind in the cover system, and you die so quickly, you usually have to make your AI squad kill a lot of the enemies for you. That's for Single Player, at least.

For MP, it's not bad, but I'm not getting what I used to when I played on the PS2. There's too much crap everywhere, and the maps are anything but clean. Camping is in every shooter, I know, but they put so many structures and vegetation in these maps, it screams for people to hide and wait. The game modes vary from each other slightly, and there's only 4 different game types. It's not what SOCOM is about, and it's really dumbed down, IMO.

There's a lot to say, and if you want a good opinion, stay away from the SOCOM boards; those people will not help you.

No problem, if he doesn't have it he'll love it.

Hey if you guys a looking for a decent story line, I suggest Medal of Honor.

It's a FPS, yeah, but the campaign plot isn't unrealistic bullshit. It outlines battle in the Middle East really well, and has an ending that really makes you respect what the soldiers over there are doing.

jbh Yeah, I saw that game, I'll take a look into it, seems pretty fun, even if a lot of people see it as difficult.


EDIT: Damn, Jerry, just watched the review of it on IGN, games looks freakin insane, i'll be getting it definitivley.
