Apparently, last month saw a 'God of War 4 cinematic test' cropping up on an animator's CV, sparking speculation despite the owner of said CV claiming that it has no connection to Sony Santa Monica's violent epic. Sounds dubious!
PSM3 has recently learned more too, as reported in its latest issue: "PSM3 has heard from another source that God of War 4 is coming, and will hit in September 2012," reads the report. "Our source works closely with the God of War universe, and let slip he'd be working on a related project at the same time." i know a lot of people think that the series should end with 3 but, i seriously hope that there is a fourth in the making Discuss!!! **EDIT*** above was not the screenshot...above is a gow3 screenshot (so i took it out)....it was a cinematic scene that was the leaked.. ...sorry about that..

I wonder what the story will revolve around, because honestly, God of War 4 may be the start of people considering it to just milking the franchise. It was suppose to be a trilogy and while side-games are perfectly fine, they may find that people will put GODLY expectations of a game that was never suppose to happen in the first place.
I am personally curious to see what Santa Monica Studios can do outside of the God of War franchise...

As much as I LOVE God of War, and a part of me wants another game, Kratos' story has been told, I don't think another game is necessary, and I don't think any prequels would be a numbered title, so I don't think it'll be a prequel. I'm with ShadowGuard on this one, I'd much rather prefer Santa Monica Studios to announce a new IP, I want to see what else they can come up with

God of War 4 doesn't need to be about Kratos.. There have been several gods of war throughout mythology depending which culture you go to and hell Kratos wasn't even a legit god. He was a made up character that defeated the legit god of war so if they can just re-write mythology like that then God of War 4 can happen with or without Kratos.

I may be totally off on this, but at the end of GOW3 after the credits rolled it showed a trail of blood going off down a cliff with no impaled Kratos showing. So, with this in mind, I can't see it being the end of Kratos or his story, this is just my thoughts though. I would actually enjoy another Gow game with Kratos in it. However, I am fine with it ending at 3, if that was supposed to be it?

I assumed that someone (krato's brother?) dragged his body. The blood looked like it was streaking across and from the wound look of kratos he was dead as dead can be.

I really would much prefer they take a look into other mythologies instead. Change the setting a little bit. I'd like to see more stormy deserts or frozen tundras instead. I don't really want then to rehash wha they've, IMO, already perfected. Would I buy a GOW4? Hell yeah. Would I rather have a different kind of GOW? Absolutely.

True, that would be awesome. Maybe mayans, running through the rainforest would be awesome.. But if they stick with the Spartan storyline please go with someone else, let Kratos be dead and move on.

Well, the directors gave out the first hint when they publicly said that they were increasing their god of war team x 2, and that was when god of war 3 was released. They've been clearly working on something related to the god of war universe for quite some time. There's a second official "leak" for God of War 4 and that is the job listing on gamasutra where they are hiring programmers for their santa monica studios. Edit: May 06, 11

It is said that God Of War 3 was supposed to be a 3rd person shooter but for the sake of fans it became best Hack n slasher.
I hope we get to see a 3rd person shooter in God Of War 4 set in Greek!

No.
Honestly, let the developer make new games and branch out from a series or genre. God of War is great and all but I think the developer should focus on something else.

To be honest, if Santa Monica Studios made the next God of War game a TPS, all they would do is lose fans, not gain them, that's a terrible risk to take, and one that I hope they don't follow :/ (Though I doubt they will follow that anyway)
