Just googled the Error code, sony has released a statment, they say it's a bug in the PS3's clock. Personally i wouldn't care if all my data got wiped, it be pretty interesting i think. The fact i never play games on PS3 probably helps too though.

And guys, stfu about a 'Mass recall', you sound stupid saying it. I persoanlly wouldn't send them mine, i'd wait a few weeks, by then the would probably know how to fix, in which case i'd send to to a hardware store.

I enjoy some people saying that Microsoft would be laughing at this. They seriously wouldn't be laughing, if the worst comes to worst and this is a CMOS issue the battery that stores the date and time data, then a mass-recall would be needed as the CMOS is read only, it cannot be altered by software patching.

A mass-recall would destroy Sony's gaming division, why would any of us tolerate this kind of issue and put up without a console for months while they deal with the tens of millions of faulty units coming at them daily. This issue if super serious could easily take Sony out of the console race as this isn't just affecting consumers it is affecting the developers they have this issue too..

Microsoft need Sony, as competition leads to sales and leads to advancement, Microsoft right now will be shitting themselves as much as Sony are.

If a mass recall takes effect, that would kill Sony's plan. They have a shit-ton of kick ass coming out this year, and this would hinder their plain to close the gap.

Personally, if it did take effect, I'd just try to find a slim online without a hard drive or something, try and save some money somehow.

There's actually some good 360 deals knocking about these days.
