Naw.....The main differences between the two titles is there's no crafting of items, no cooking, no fishing, no missions or quests, no time limits etc, etc.

Think of it more as a choose your own adventure type of game. You can slay who you want to slay when you want to, and you have no one to answer to.

Thanks for your support Johnny! I'm really glad you and everyone else liked the review. I'm hoping to get some more PS3 exclusives in to review for Neo, but believe it or now we're still looked at as a minor site at times. We're hoping to change that in the future.

About the game's length....that truly depends on you as a gamer. If I was to guesstimate an average time for someone who knows what they're doing and NEVER dies, I would say around 40+ hours. However, I will say that it gets easier for any subsequent play through with another build. I was able to knock down 6 hrs on 1-1 for my first play through to around 45 min on other builds. As Master Ffamran pointed out though, New Game+ is a whole different ball game! LOL

A great thing about this game is that you're not wasting your time on pointless questing. Every minute you put into this game is spent either playing or dying. I didn't feel like I was wasting my time on a bunch of fluff like other titles. And any of you who have played RPG's know what I'm talkin' about!

It's an RPG in the sense that you level up your stats and can upgrade your items. It's Action in the sense that you're not bothered with quests and every move is controlled by you. There are no quick time events or active time battles.

I hope that cleared that up a bit for ya Johnny and hopefully we'll see you out on the battlefield!! This is definitely a game that deserves our support. There are too many companies releasing mediocre garbage and it would be nice to see the companies taking a risk with new ideas to get rewarded for their efforts!

Yeah I feel the same way you do Red. But from what I understand most PR still don't see us as such. I'm not on the front lines of the PR battle though. Hopefully the Neo team is making some headway.

Not necessarily. You do missions, and they range from collecting some items, killing a mass species, or actually killing some huge Wyvern. The game does have some RPG elements like upgrading armor or weapons, and using potions, items and all that kind of stuff. It's very fun on it's own, and it's even better when you play with friends. It's such a great game.

The reason I asked is because Demon's Souls sounds similar, and by similar, I just mean the basic hack and slash and RPG elements. In Monster Hunter you can be strategic or just hack and slash away at a monster (you'll most likely die though). You have 3 chances per mission and if you used items that helped you upgrade your health or stamina in the mission, it will be gone making the mission harder (unless you have more for backup).

Monster Hunter is a very fun game and when you progress, the Monster's progress too, they get stronger, so the difficulty is entirely on your behalf. From what Kik mentioned, it does sound similar, but I do like the idea of me being able to hack and slash whatever I feel like, at whatever time without no one stopping me. That's something that Monster Hunter lacked, then again, it was on the PSP and PS2, compared to a PS3.

I just picked up the Collectors Edition that comes with the mini-strategy guide, along with the art-book and soundtrack (from my pre-order).

That's one documented sale you can chalk up to Heath's fine work.

Yeah, after the Tower Knight slammed that 18-wheeler sized shield down on me for the fourteenth time....

My enthusiasm is not dampened! I can kill those skeleton knights in the first section of the Shadow Tempest world easy enough... I'll just keep going in there for a few thousand souls at a time and then bailing until I am sufficiently upgraded.

Here's a question for you though; what sort of weapon setup were you using? I'm playing as Royalty and I combine a buckler and a rapier to turtle most of the time. But I sometimes switch out the buckler to a short sword because it can still block reasonably well and allows for some quick 1-2 combos with the rapier. I also have a catalyst paired behind the rapier for offensive attacks. It's working out well enough I suppose, but I need all the help I can get here.
