re: worth getting

I would highly recommend this game. It is quite unique and different from other games I have played.

The only qualm I would have with it is that you have to send away one of your characters permanently at the end of each chapter and generally I can't decide on who to send, because I like most of the characters...

But get it, and see for yourself. It's not a waste of money, and besides, the prequel Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria is out on the Playstation 2 at the moment, too.

re: worth getting

actually matt, that only happens if you end up in asgard hill. if you end up at Jotunheim you'll get all of them back except lyseria cos that's a glitch.

To answer your questions...

1. is it worth getting
Most definietly. I am a big fan of RPGs and this is one of the more unique RPG games i have ever played.

2. good points?
a more unique battle system, a more free storyline (that doesn't fix you to a certain series of events) very well animated 2D sprites, the good soundtrack and the many beautifully finished CGI movies.

3. bad points? (be honest)
The limit of time in the game. It's not endless. and some of the bosses can be a real pain for first timers.

4. story line (whats it about)
Based heavily on Norse Mythology, you play as the Valkyrie Lenneth who is on a charge from Odin, the all-Father, to find and train Einherjar for the final battle of Ragnarok in Asgard, the world of the gods. Visit the square enix site for this game for a bit mor info on the storyline.

5. battle system (turn based or natural?)
Turn based, but one of the more unique turn based systems i have ever seen. characters can combo with each other in real time for massive damage.

6. weapons and stuff
a large variety of items, equipment and artifacts. there exist instant kill weapons for monsters weak against its element type.

7. monsters or bad guys?
monsters. the battles are mostly about purifying undead souls.

re: worth getting

the cinematics are awesome, ill start with that.. the story lines when ur getting chrs are actually pretty deep, but the dialogue seemed amateur and almost painful...
the original storyline was cliche in almost every single way, but the idea of being a god which recruits mortals was the only thing that they didnt screw up
i wouldnt reccomend it... in my opinion it could have been much better than it was.

re: worth getting

*4 me i would suggest it... Best part of this was the battle system

*bad part : time limit , there were extra periods but 4 me it wasn't enough to go and hang out ^^ or visit other places haha
