I hate how everyone refers to FFVII being the best one because sephiroth is a bad ass and killed aerith. BIG *bleep*ING DEAL! Out of the nine Final Fantasies I've played no one went out in as much style as Galuf. It was a true blaze of glory. Aerith just dies from one stab after getting shot, cut, AND stabbed by other enemies up to this point, But Exdeath throws out Flare, Holy, and Meteor, AND GALUF WON'T DIE!!! After smacking Exdeath around like a punching bag he takes off THEN Galuf dies like a true hero should.

Final Fanasy V isn't as well known as what Final Fantasy VII is, and certainly the story is not quite as epic as the latter title's is. However, the main reason why Galuf's death isn't really seen in such a light as what Aeris' is, I guess, is because of the graphics. The graphical capacity of a 2D sprite isn't enough to invoke as much emotion as what seeing a 3D rendered model getting stabbed through the stomach is. I mean, I didn't really feel that much remorse for Galuf dying. He wasn't really my favourite character to begin with, even though he was humourous.

Frankly, the deaths portrayed in Final Fantasy IV were more upsetting for me.

I haven't played VII or IV, but I'll be seriously surprised if ether tops VI. That's pretty much the best scripted game I've ever seen or probably ever will see. Though it got me pissed at X.
