Already stated, but (if memory serves) the EASIEST way to beat him (especially if your going for a low level game like I will be) is equiping Reflect Rings on everyone and casting Reraise on everyone (well, at least one, but that will mean that that character will gain a buncha exp... and we dont want that... do we?)
The other ways are unreliable or involve over-leveling... which sucks for late game Esper boosters.
The Reflect Ring/Reraise is the best method, in my opinon, at least for a LLG. Taking Gogo and Umaro are good choices to, but not for the actual battle, mind you, simply because they cant equip Espers to boost stats.
I plan on taking Gogo (not Umaro, he's unreliable) with me and using the Reflect Ring/Reraise method, but only Reraising Gogo so that he will take all the exp and my other characters wont suffer losing Esper boost options because of it.
... Reraise does go through Reflect... right? Been forever and a day since I played it...

there is an even easier way cast reflect, cast berserk on a character, berserk should be reflected, then as long as said character is using non elemental weapons will continue to pummel the MM make sure you have ONE character jumping and the other with re arise or at least shell, the trick is that MM is vulnerable to berserk so he wont be able to touch you with magic, the jump part is for when he casts ultima, it will miss and as long you have a surviving character it will work.
