Game play

how is the game play of this game? is it like ff7 where you use materia or is it magic and what not?

He may not have played the SNES or the PSX version...


-In FFVI, you use Espers to learn your magic, Espers are the Summons of the game, and play a huge role in it. They, unlike Summons, can only be used once in a battle.

-There are also things called Relics in this game, they serve as Accessories for this game and are quite helpful, and if if you do certain things, you can get some really good ones (example: Molulu Charm - stops ALL random battles)

-Your crew is split up into seperate groups ALOT in this game, it is recommended you keep all of your levels up and your weapons and armor up to date.


For the Advanced version there is also:

-Added magic, weapons, and Espers

-Updated names (example: Bolt 2 into Thundara)

-Bonus Dungeons Dragons' Den and Soul Shrine


Also, this game has a rarity: Ultima and Meteor in the same game!

I recommend this game 100%, but I would use a guide, as MANY awesome items (even a strong character) can be lost in a flash if not recieved at the right time.

Yeah, this game is suppose to be some opera theme with comedy mixed in with it. I actually find this a great substitue for VII, but whatever.

This may be off the original topic, but in my opinion, FFVII is really just a 3D cheap knock off of FFVI. (Although it DOES have SOME originallity)
For examples, although I wont go into everything:

Cloud is really just Celes, Edgar, and Cyan put together. His story is basically based off of Celes' story: being gentically enhanced and such. His basic look is basically like and altered Edgar's look... and his final Limit Break, Omni Slash is lightly based off of two of Cyan's Bushido skills, Quadra Slash and Quadra Slam (← These might be old names.) Even his hair is based off of someone else, its shape is exactly like non-SSj Goku's with the coloring of SSj Goku's. His giant sword is the most original thing about him... but its still not that original. I dont like him, he just a “children's character,” though I sopose that isnt a bad thing at all.

Sephiroth's look is obviously based on Setzer and his character is just an unfunny/serious vesion of Kefka, most notably because they are both egotistical madmen who turn into “angels” of sorts and want to destroy the world and what not. Another “children's character” that I dont personally care for.

Cid's outfit is completely based off of Locke's.

The look of Cait Sith's toyasaurus part is just a bigger, fat bloated Mog, and the cat part is Stray, an Esper you can get in VI.

Beret is the most original character in the game, its a shame alot of people dont even use him.

Though, If I could have Yuffie in FFVI, I would. Shes really the only character I actually care for in VII, well, her and RedXIII.

But please, dont let my over analysis and opinon stop you from enjoying VII, its still... okay, I guess. :/
