re: world of warcraft addicting?

This game is my life. I live for it.

I live in my moms basement and play it around nine or ten hours a day. I have 3 level 70's on three different realms. I suggest you get this game, you will love it.

re: world of warcraft addicting?

That's sad.
Really sad.

I play the game, but I'm not addicted. I honestly can stop whenever I want to. I'm level sixty, I play the game sparingly as not to get myself hooked. Once I hit level 70 with my hunter, I'm done.

re: world of warcraft addicting?

Im only a guest here till my account gets activated (cant activate it here in school) But anyway here is my two cents. I dont find it addicting because if im not playing this im either watching tv or surfing the internet? Whats the difference? And personally I find this alot more fun then sitting around watching tv or spending time on the internet. I mostly play after school because there is nothing else to do after school and on weekends I go visit my girlfriend during the day and come home and play more that night (She lives 45 min away so I only see her on weekends) I like my lifestyle and its going to stay this way =P

quote Homunculus Lover
....You should ask my boyfriend Miller....THEN you'll know how addictive this game really is....I can't pry him from the computer most time.

'Hold on, let me just finish this quest.'

'I'll come to bed in a minute, need to find three more of the same item.'

I seriously hope what you're getting yourself in for. lol

This is one of the things that I'm thinking that are happening, maybe you should find a better boyfriend and I mean a boyfriend that will spend some time with you.

Anyway, I'm trying to not get addicted to WoW but I can't be addicted to WoW anyway since my bro shares HIS account with me and he gets to play more than me! My record was like 12 hours or even less!

My personal experience is that this game is the most addicting thing ive ever done. And it really doesnt make it any easier that unlike any other things that i like to do i dont have to leave my home dont have to spen any money except for the monthly cost which is almost nothing compared to everything else i enjoy and the fact that i play on a laptop so im not just confined to one spot when i am playing its just so dam convenient compared to everything else i do that i really just go to work and do everything that i have to do before i come home so i dont have to leave out again. Also the fact that many of my family and friends play so even when im not playing theres someone calling me saying get on get on get on. My PS2 and 360 gets really no play anymore at all one of my friends hates me because i introduced the game to him and now it has consumed his life also. And then i ordered all the novels from blizzard and read them like nonstop (i think there were like 8 or 9 of them) and after actually knowing the entire backstory of warcraft (which from what i can tell few people actually know) the game just became like 10 times more interesting to me because now everything i see in the game the npcs the creatures the heros and even the different areas and their names i now know what they all mean and how they came to be and why alot of the areas and cities look the way they do. I havent met one person yet who even knows what the burning crusade is other than "oh its the expansion." Blizzard claims they put between 50 and 70 million into the production of this game and to me it definitely shows.
m,ann i know everything about blizzard there is to know i played bliz games since i was one i know everything about wow warcraft starcraftdiablo and all but nope not addicted and if u cant find one item in a day ur messed up lol becease i can find around 100 blue items in like 10 hrs but i only play like 7 hrs a week and im 12 btw and my sisters bf has all pvp chars like7,8,or 9 level 70's and a crapload of time on it lol

re: world of warcraft addicting?

You people aren't the only ones concerned about its addiction, recently a country or state or something (forgot what it is) started putting some type of curfew or ban or something on Wow because a child died of neglect from his parent whom were so addicted to Wow didn't give a dam about there child, and there was another incident where an Asian played Wow for 62 hours straight non stop and died instantly after he stopped playing.

This is true for me as well. Personal observations of the majority of players i've seen are actually quite disgusting (observed at internet cafes) stacks upon stacks of pizza boxes soda cans EVERYWHERE if anybody has seen the South Park episode of WoW, the guy the boys fight is EXACTLY what I have seen!!!!
Let me put it to you this way because this REALLY pissed me off: I was playing Supreme Commander on a neighboring computer when I felt something brush up against my leg. Freaked, I looked down to find the 4 YEAR OLD CHILD of a WoW addicted mom (25 computers down from me mind you) totally unattended picking up the crap on the floor and sticking it in his mouth.
This of course is one of the extremes of players, I personally think WoW is fun but like everything else should be enjoyed in MODERATION

re: world of warcraft addicting?

I don't get the appeal. Yeah, it's fun at first but like any other game it gets boring. I don't get how people can't even be turned away to use the bathroom. It's beyond me that a parent could ignore their child, that they brought into this world and act so selfishly. This game isn't that great. If you have some self-esteem you'll realize many aspects of what makes this game boring. I think if you're mental stable, and once you get over the "cool" factor of it being Online. Then it's a yawn fest. I think Wow should put a time limit 7-8 hours a day max. Then a login ban for 4-5hours. I think people should view it only as a game. I lost a friendship over this because our testosterone poisoned BF's didn't know the definition of "game" but needless to say I don't deal with any of them anymore.

I use to think that I had to be at a certain level by the end of the week so a few hours a day in my freetime should suffice but then I asked myself why? and there was no reason for it. That's when I realized I wasn't playing for fun (When the reason developers make games is for FUN! ... and money.) So I thought I would only hop on when I was bored. So a few hours a day turned into 2hrs or less every few days. Then it turned into 2 hours a week until I would only get on a few hours every few weeks, then a month. Then not at all, I never renewed my subscription.

So when I broke it down, when I play a normal game I play it only for a few weeks (or less). Then I usually finish it. Then I replay it later if it has that certain factor. Then if I removed the "real" people, cause I thought who am I trying to impress? These people don't give a crap, they have their real lives to contend with. I realized it gave us repetitive task that stretches out so it takes us 40mins to hours to do when a normal game it would only take 10mins-20mins to do and the normal game would do it in a more interesting personable tailored manner (cutscenes, FMVS the works)
