Was Dumbledore really killed? - Page 2

You shouldn't have put it like that in the title. Some people don't want everything spoiled. I couldn't fully enjoy this book because all of the time since page 200 I knew what was going to happen because I accidentally read it on a message forum.

I still hope that Dumbledore managed to survive somehow but we all know that the only one who has ever survived the Avada Kedavra spell is Harry Potter and it was not because he had amazing magical capabilities.

And how come the European version of the book is different? I want to read the whole book, it's not fair for us to be missing a part of it.

I think that Dumbledore is really dead. I think it is entirely possible that Dumbledore told Snape to kill him, because it's possible Snape would have died if he didn't, because he promised that in the Unbreakable Vow...that he would finish the task if Draco failed. But thats beside the point, I'm pretty sure Dumbledore is dead, but what he knew will surely help in the 7th book.

We don't know the full powers entwined in the Unbreakable Vow, though. Perhaps Snape would be free from the effects of the Vow as long as Narcissa thinks the task has been carried out.

This would mean Dumbledore simply had to appear dead in the eyes of Narcissa, which he might have done by staging his death, thus removing Snape's penalty of death without making any real sacrifice other than bringing grief and misery upon his friends. This would also explain Dumbledore's actions atop the castle that night. If he knew he had to "die," he obviously couldn't let Harry interfere, so he stunned him. He also knew that Snape, who was the only other person in on the secret, had to be the one to "kill" him, which is why he did everything he could to stall Draco until Snape could get there to help fake his death.

If Dumbledore is still alive their's a high chance that Snape was in on it with him, hence the website where Dumbledore said he could hide Malfoy and stuff.

Even without the website I was always looking at how the hiding Malfoy trick would turn out and it never did. Sounds a little fishy and the website makes it fishier.

That's exactly what we're debating. Not that fact that he might come back from the dead, but that he never died in the first place. I still haven't seen solid enough evidence to prove that he is dead, so I'm sticking to my theory. Dumbledore has a phoenix, so maybe she's trying to make a connection there. Phoenixes reborn from their ashes... Maybe that's why Dumbledore was incinerated, he's going to "reborn from the ashes" so to speak.

J.K Rowling has pretty much assured that Dumbledore is dead. I remember reading that her theory is that "the hero must always go alone in the end". Harry is the hero. Dumbledore is the crutch. He has helped Harry to the point where he can (presumably) kill Voldemort on his own. Besides, it'd be just damn stupid for him to come back alive. What kind of story-telling is that? Another point completely (and a much more productive one, in my opinion) to ponder is that if Dumbledore knew he was going to die and had in fact planned it all along.

I personally think that Dumbledore is dead. Don't see why he would need to come back as Harry has pretty much got stuff covered and would do quite well without him. Don't think he would ever come back even after reading everything on that site. Fawkes coming to help Dumbledore wouldn't be surprising to me. Fawkes might even be Harry's new pet which again would not be surprising.

What really confirmed Dumbledore's death to me was how everything was described on Dumbledore's funeral. All semi-enimies of Harry's were united by this won tragic loss and it was suppose to be this very emotional moment. Just don't think he'd ever come back because their's just not much of a reason for him to. It's not like Harry can't take it from here.

If he is hit by the killing Avada Kedavra curse (there is no countercurse), falling from a height and his charm on Harry ceased, then yes, he really was killed.
