I know I should enjoy it. I do understand what goes on in the play. Faustus is damned to hell and all that junk...

But I have to write a 10 page paper analyzing and interpreting the play. A fellow classmate said my thesis is great: "The damnation of Faustus can be linked directly to the ironic synthesis in the play; his goal for divinity is consumed by his infatuation with superhuman power."

BUT everything else--organizing, transitions, etc--makes me want to punch a baby!!!

I agree, the play is lame. But I don't get your thesis statement. His goal for divinity springs from his infatuation with superhuman power - it is not consumed by it. Essentially, they are the same thing anyway. The statment seems a little redundant to me.

I wrote this two years ago. I did a lot of re-writing after that stage... I don't even remember my thesis now but it was totally different than that one.
