[FanFic] The Hunter Draconis (Sorry it's been so long!)
|

Log in to remove this sponsored message Anyway, I decided to change a few things and post it here on the date above....or below....whereever. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. Jereth was born in a very busy little village called Aerinthia on the outskirts of Allsburg. His father was the local blacksmith and his mother was a seamstress who sold quilts and decorative tapestries at the Allsburg Market. Every week she'd tie a pack on their Apinoth and lead him down the road to the market. She wouldn't return until after supper time so Jereth and his father, Segdoh, would have to fend for themselves. They didn't mind, Segdoh was an excellent cook and knew how to use a barbecue better than anyone! He would put on his apron, light up the barbecue and start thrashing the meat with spices he'd put into small shaker bottles that lined his apron like a utility belt! Jereth cracked up whenever he saw this because his father was easily one of the largest men in Allsburg. He'd come from a long line of large men with huge arms and hulking bodies, yet Jereth has of average build and took after his mother a lot. Jereth had been training with his father blacksmithing by the time we was a teenager. He'd occasionally take over his father's shop when he was called away. Now normally, blacksmiths were never called away for duty as their work is usually turned into them for repair. However the tools used at the mill were quite large and Segdoh would have to travel there often and repair them on-site. The extra money was usually used to buy something extravagant for his wife or something useful for their home, like a new wheel cart. The last time Segdoh came home he presented his wife with a golden necklace with a very beautiful blue gemstone pendent. "I'm home, Sera!" He said as he put the gift on her from behind. Jereth was never the best student and typically failed in his assignments. It's not that he wasn't smart or he didn't want to apply himself. There was one reason Jereth went to school, Jasmine. Jasmine was a year younger than Jereth and had perfectly tanned skin, dark hair, and bright green eyes. Perfection couldn't even hold a candle to Jasmine in Jereth's opinion. Jasmine was the local butcher's daughter and her family was quite wealthy. Even the Lord of their region got his meats from Horze. It was such a special event Horze would close down his shop from morning until the Lord showed up. He'd open the shop only to him so that he wouldn't be disturbed while he selected his meats. His servants would pile the meat in the back of his carriage and it would ride off, being dragged by 4 apceros all saddled in the finest leather and golden buckles. One night it rained terribly! It seemed to be coming down in buckets! Jereth was sitting by the kitchen window. He'd laid his cheeks in his hand and just stared outside. "Honey, why don't you come away -!!" Sera was cut off when something ran by the window like a flash! Jereth jumped back them opened it a poked his head out. It was Jasmine! Jereth grabbed his fathers Red Saber and rushed out after her calling her back! "Segdoh! Jereth ran outside!" His mother called. Segdoh rushed to the door, realized his sword was gone, shook his head, and tore out after him! Jasmine ran to her secret hiding place. It was a large boulder that she often went to when she wanted to be alone and think. Jereth would have had trouble following her if it hadn't been for her white dress she was wearing in the dark. He skidded to a stop beside her, startling her! He grabbed her by her arms, forcing her body close to his "Jasmine! You have to come back! You have to go home! It's not safe here in such bad weather!" Jereth yelled as their faces were lit up by a flash of lightning! "I can't! My parents are fighting! I don't want to be there!" "You can stay with me- Err...I mean you can stay with us." She nodded and buried her face in his chest with a strong embrace. They started their way back home. Jereth heard his father screaming as he ran to them shouting and waving his hands in the air! "Dad!" He shouted! "Over here!" His father shouted back but it was muffled by the heavy rain. Jasmine broke from Jereth and started to run towards his father. With a flash of lightning he saw the horror that was to shape the rest of his life forever! The lighting flash only appeared for less than a second but Jereth saw everything as if time slowed to a dull crawl! His eyes widened as he watched a half starving Rathian swoop down and take Jasmine in her clutches! Her tail swung down impaling his father through the chest. As it retreated out of his torso she threw Segdoh's limp body to the ground. Jereth never forgot the look of shock on his father's face. Jasmine was never seen or heard from again... Jereth kneeled over his father's body and took him in his arms. His tears were camouflaged by the rain as he screamed up to the sky in bloody rage! "You better come back for me or I will hunt you DOWN!" He took the Red Saber in his hand and drowned it in his father's blood that had pooled to the ground. Vowing to destroy the wyvern and claim his revenge his slit the palm of his hand open, clenched his fist and shook it high above his head! The day had come where he would leave home as the man of his house and return something better. He would be a Hunter. He double checked his bags that he'd packed the night before. A full set of ioprey armor, food, support items such as smoke and flash bombs, along with other tings he'd need. He lifted his pack to his back grabbed his weapon and snuck out of town. He made camp deep in the hills where no other hunter dared to because of the lack of support from the Felynes. Not to mention his tent was right next to a vespoid nest. He didn't care. Only one beast was on his mind. If that Rathian looked anything like it did that fateful night it's skinny frame would be coming for that carcass and soon. To ensure her quick approach, he went to another area and killed and small Apinoth. He dragged it out to a large open area and sliced the small beast to ribbons. The grass was dyed red with blood and the smell made Jereth nauseous. He knew the smell would travel. Hopefully it would travel right to where he wanted it to; the Rathian's nest. He climbed a nearby tree and waited..... He woke up startled as he heard the wyvern roar before it landed softly and stretched its wings. He unsheathed his blade and crouched down on the branch ready to jump. The Rathian began to eat. Jereth jumped down from the tree screaming and plunged his blade deep into her shoulder, swung down, pulled out his blade and fell to the ground. He stood and pain shot up his leg like it was lightning! He'd twisted his ankle pretty good. He looked up at the Rathian and ducked just in time to not get slammed by her swinging tail! Rathian leaned back and took off running trying to trample Jereth! She then turned around and let out a barrage of fireballs! Jereth blocked the first but the second one sent him flying into a pile of large rocks! He looked up to see his opponent charging at him, her mouth was hot and wet with drool pouring from her lips! Scrambling like crazy he jumped over the rocks and before he realized what he was doing he started falling! He'd jumped off the cliff! No! This was it! He was going to DIE! But wait! He stopped falling! He was in a net! Who the hell puts a net on a cliff?! He climbed up some growing ivy by the net and climbed to safety, or so he though! The dark wyvern had started her meal and stuffed her mouth as full as it could get. He gritted his teeth and did the bravest and stupidest thing he could think of..... He charged. He charged as fast as he could, screaming like a warrior and then...he jumped! He jumped and slid between her feet! Scrambling to his feet he leaped up and ran across the wyvern's back and clung to her neck! He stabbed at her neck and face repeatedly swinging around her neck until he was right under her chin! With the last stab through her bottom jaw and up into her skull she fell lifeless. This posed a very large problem. Jereth was now trapped underneath the Rathian's head and neck. Her drool has begun to seep into his hair and pool under his head. It was hot and wet and smelled of rotten meat and death. His arms were pinned as well and he stayed like this for two nights. Upon sunrise of the third day, he started hearing noises! They were inviting, until he figured out what they were. Small raths slightly bigger than a turkey had glided their way down to see their mother dead and lifeless. They must have gotten hungry and decided to search for food themselves. The raths made their way to Jereth and inspected him carefully. He tried to stay still until one of them pecked at his leg, biting through his armor and muscle! He screamed in pain and started flailing his legs as hard as he could but the raths started playing with him and jumping back and pecking like it was some sort of game! They squawked and cheeped like they were having fun! One of them jumped high and took hold of Jereth's leg and cheeped triumphantly! He tried to shake it off but it was no use! But then something unseen knocked it off! Jereth didn't see what happened but only saw a shadow move past him in the glare of the sun. It was another hunter! He wore Kut Ku armor with Gypceros greaves and was holding a large great sword in his hands. He slew the raths and chased the rest away before he knelt down and looked to Jereth. "Hi! I'm Roy." Roy used his great sword as a pry bar and lifted the Rathian's head off of Jereth. He struggled as he slid from underneath. His muscles ached so badly he wanted to cry. As soon as Jereth was clear, Roy dropped the Rathian's head and kicked it. "You must have had some grudge against this one. What happened?" he asked. Jereth bowed his head and shook it slowly. "I don't want to talk about it." With a shrug and a sigh Roy blew it off and whistled loudly. Four felines pushing 2 carts ran across the grass. They tossed Jereth in one and seemed to giggle when he cried out in pain. Cursing them under his breath he turned his head to watch Roy carve away at the Rathian. "Hey that's my kill, man!" He shouted. Roy looked up and smiled as he motioned the other cart to him. Roy and the felines carved the Rathian to pieces until there was almost nothing left! "You know, you're not supposed to go out killing wyverns without permission from the guild or your village chief. Tell you what; I'll keep my mouth shut as long as I can have enough materials to replace my Kut Ku armor. "Whatever," was Jereth's reply and they were taken back to camp. They spent the next few days there so Jereth could recover. Roy spent the whole time with him dressing Jereth's wounds, cooking, and keeping watch throughout the night. Roy spoke a lot about his recent hunts. He had taken down a few Kut Ku by himself and had a friend help him kill a Gypceros last month. They quickly became friends and Jereth finally told him about his story of murder and revenge and how he decided to become a hunter full-time. After Jereth was finished, Roy exclaimed "Hey! I know your father! He made my sword! He had come into my town to fix something-or-other in the armory. I was in there trying to get a blade crafted when I overheard his name in conversation. When I asked him to upgrade my sword he was happy to do it. I watched him do it and he seemed so happy smiting! He was smiling the whole time and explaining the process and everything!" Jereth looked down in a sulk. When Roy noticed, his tone dropped. "I'm sorry. You must really miss him. C'mon, let's get ready to go back to your village." "All right," said Jereth as he rose and started to strap on his armor and blade. "Hey, how about this? When I replace my Kut Ku armor you can have it! Ok?" "Sure, thanks!" Jereth smiled and dumped a bucket of sand over the fire. It took half a day to get back to Aerinthia. Upon entering the village square, Sera, Jereth's mother, dropped a quilt she was handing to a customer and rushed towards her son. Wrapping her arms around him she squeezed him to tight his ribs hurt! "Oh! My baby boy! Where have you been?! I've been worried sick about you!" She kissed his cheek and held him so close Jereth could hardly move. Soon, tears welled up in her eyes when she realized that Segdoh was nowhere around. "Where is your father ?" Her voice was broken and stuttered, dreading the worst. "He was killed by a Rathian, Mom. He was killed from behind, but I killed it, Mom! I swore revenge and I killed that monster!" Jereth spoke with solemn pride, his fist clenched by his side. The next thing he knew he was sitting in the dirt. Sera had pushed him to fast and so hard that Jereth never even saw it! "NO!" She screamed. "A Rathian didn't kill my husband! You did! If you hadn't of run off..." "Mom, no! It's not my fault!" "Shut up! You ran out the door and your father ran after you without a weapon or armor or anything! And now he's dead and it's your fault! "Mom! Listen!" Jereth tried to get up but Sera kicked dirt into his face! "I want you to leave, Jereth ." Her voice was low and she hung her head down. "Go Jereth Pack your things and leave. I don't want to see you again." Jereth stood slowly, he tried to speak but found his voice was not working. He was in such disbelief that he just turned around and went home. Roy's face was gleaming, a large smile on his face as he felt his new Rathian armor. Jereth trudged slowly behind, clad in Roy's old Kut Ku armor and Gypceros greaves. "Could you slow down?" Jereth asked. "That thing is annoying." Jereth motioned towards Roy's Rathian helmet clanging against his tasset. "Yeah sorry, Man. Look, your mom was just angry. Give her some time and she'll be ok. Then you can go home and be the hero hunter you've always wanted to be! Right?" Roy slapped Jereth's shoulder hard with a smile! "C'mon! Buck up!" "You don't get it do you?" Jereth stopped in his tracks. "My mom didn't know what happened to my father until I told her, which means that Jasmine never made it back to the village. Who knows where she is?!" I'm going to find her, dead or alive. I'll do it alone if I have to, but I could really use your help!" "Jereth, did you tell me that the Rathian took her away? Wyverns only take things to their nest for one reason: to feed their young. It's most likely that you won't find her." "NO! There's still a chance she's ok! Those little bastards were trying to eat me so they must not have eaten in a while. The Aerinthia Elder teaches that Rath wyverns only need to eat once a week." Jereth's fist clenched up as his hope grew. "I hate to be so contradicting, but no one really knows about rath young. People have only been able to study adults. Young wyverns may need to eat more to sustain their growth. Look, I'll be glad to help you out. While we're searching we can go to the cliffs in the forest. I overheard one of the villagers saying that he's been hearing about wyverns circling that area. Maybe we can find a clue." Jereth smiles at Roy's comments and agreed to return to the forest. The trek only took them a day. They stalled a bit to practice hunting on some kelbi and some minor prey. Jereth was lucky enough to walk away with some kelbi horns and a few white prey scales. His SnS skills were sharpening and he could dodge prey all day long! When they reached the cliffs they stared in amazement, jaws dropped. "We have to climb that?" Jereth asked. Roy nodded and Jereth immediately dropped his pack and took hold of the cliffs, climbing as fast as he could. Roy smirked, smiled, and followed en suit. Just before the top they stopped and rested, sitting down with their backs against the rocks. Roy knocked his head against the wall with a groan of exhaustion. A small blue stone bounced off of his head and landed between his legs. "Machalite!" He exclaimed. "Hey man there's machalite in these cliffs! I've always wanted an iron katana, but I could never find any of this stuff!" He stood quickly and unsheathed his sword. With a loud scream he whacked at the stone, but to no avail. "Damn! All my bombs are in my pack on the ground!" Jereth chuckled, "Go get them then." "No way! Are you crazy?!" Roy looked down the cliff and smiled widely. "Hey! Felyne! Bring my pack up! It's the red one!" "Mreow?! Go to Hell, Hunter! Why would I?" Roy dug into his hip pack and tossed down 200z. "I'll give you more when you get up here!" Groaning, but not being able to resist the thought of money the felyne lugged the pack up the cliff very skillfully, collected his cash and departed in fear after sniffing the air. "Hmm I wonder what that was about," Jereth said with a shrug. As he turned to look at Roy, he had already taken cover and there were 2 sm barrel bombs ready to explode! "You son-of-a -!" *KABOOM* Jereth's yell was interrupted by the explosion and Jereth was thrown back and landed a few feet away! "YES!!" Roy was on the ground scrambling to pick up all the machalite and iron ore that had been blown from the cliff face. As Jereth brushed himself off Roy was in glee saying that he could probably make "Grace" with all the ores on the ground. He tossed them in his pack and casually tossed it over the cliff, but it came back. A shadow rose over them blocking out the sun and Roy's pack plopped to thief feet with a soft thud. A Rathalos was hovering above them and roared so loud it was stunning! They scrambled up the cliffs to the entrance of a large cave and Jereth turned around and lunged a paintball, striking the Rathalos at the tip of his tail! "We're not prepared for this!" Roy screamed, pushing Jereth deep into the cave. Once inside it took them a few seconds for their eyes to adjust. The cave floor was covered in bones. The walls all around them were littered with large claw scratches and scorch marks. The ceiling of the cave had a large hole in the middle, which acted like a skylight, casting a circle of light into the middle of the cave floor. A small ledge to their right was home to a small nest, which Jereth was quick to search. In the nest Jereth found a small scrap or long hair. He picked it up and inspected it carefully. "I think this is Jasmine's!" He screamed, but was cut short. The Rathalos was coming down the hole! "He must be the Rathian's mate!" Roy screamed. "Yeah. Do you think he recognized his mate's smell on you? Because, remember, you're wearing her. We better get out of here!" Jereth responded as he took off for the other side of the cave. Roy followed in tow, but was quickly thrown off balance when a bone was thrown in front of him. He tripped and fell to the ground. When Jereth took notice he looked to where the bone was thrown where he saw a girl! "Jasmine!" He rushed to her where she pointed out a small hole in the wall. After helping them both up, she led them to a small section where the tunnel opened up to a small cavern. This message was edited by BashenMan on May 25 2007. More for the novel! Sorry it takes so long, but it's hard for me to find time.
She explained that this is where she had been living for the entire time she went missing. After the Rathian had dropped her into the small wyvern nest she punched, kicked, and pushed her way out and escaped into here. Not even rath fireballs could reach her and she'd been living off of scraps of whatever the Rathian brought her young. Roy stared at her face and noticed that the bottom half of her face was very dirty, but after what she said he determined it was blood. Even though he thought it was horrifying for her to eat raw meat, he kept his mouth shut. The Rathalos was still inside the large cave roaring constantly, frustrated that he could not get to them. "We have to get out of here! You have to get me home, Jereth!" Jasmine clutched onto his arm and buried her face into his shoulder. "Right. I've got a plan," said Roy. "You two make a run for it and I'll distract Big-Dumb-and-Ugly out there. "No way, I'm helping too!" Jereth protested. Just then the Rathalos made an attempt to cave them in by charging at the wall! He fell to the ground and crumpled to a heap, growling in anger. He backed up and made an attempt to charge again. "I don't think so Jereth. GO!" Roy screamed as he leapt out of the tunnel entrance and onto the Rathalos' back as it hit the wall again. Reaching the middle of the spine he jumped forward and barrel rolled, Dragon Agito stuck straight out. (IDK if I ever mentioned what sword he had and I can't find it reading back. Sorry if it doesn't make sense.) The sword sunk deep into the tail, but got stuck most of the way through. It tore out of Roy's hands and he lost his balance, landing hard on his neck. The Rathalos screamed and jumped like an apinoth does right after it's been branded! Standing and rubbing his neck, Roy was thankful he had his Rathian armor. Otherwise, he'd of likely broken his neck! He looked around for his weapon and caught a glimpse of Jereth and Jasmine rushing out of the cave. Instinctively he caught a flash bomb that Jereth had thrown to him. "Get the tail!" Jereth yelled and disappeared into the gushing sunlight. Looking back at the Rathalos Roy started to laugh as hard as he could seeing the Rathalos constantly turn, trying to catch his own tail in his teeth! The force of the turns caused the end of the tail to fly off like a Frisbee, right out of the cave where Jereth had just taken Jasmine! His sword took flight and spun rapidly in the air. With a deep breath Roy rushed towards the small cliff and with amazing strength he leapt up, kicked off of the ledge towards the wyvern, caught his sword and landed an amazingly strong downward blow to the Rathalos' leg, slicing clean through! He quickly rolled away from the wyvern and stared in shock. He was surprised by his own actions and had never heard of anyone ever amputating a wyvern's leg before! He spun around at a noise to his right only to discover Jereth rushing in, Flame Saber in hand. "WTF did you do?!" Jereth stared in amazement dropping his sword to the ground. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you," Roy replied. "Let's finish it." They gave each other a high five and easily killed the defenseless Rathalos. "We make one hell of a team, you know that?!" Jereth said while they both carved the Rathalos to pieces. "We'll both be rich!" They said in unison and laughed. "AHEM!" They both turned around quickly and gasped seeing Jasmine standing behind them, arms crossed and tapping her foot on the ground. "Can you take me HOME now?!" "Uhh .sure thing," Jereth smiled meekly. He reached behind him and took out his Felyne Flute and blew it hard. A Felyne Flute is commonly used by hunters to bring Felyne to you. In exchange what whatever is left over from a kill, they will take all your carvings back to camp for you to claim when you're ready. "Ok lets go get the tail and go back to camp," Roy said as he stood, dusting himself off. "Yeah about that. It's at the bottom of the cliff. It flew right out of the cave and fell all the way down to the ground. It killed one of the mosswine down there and the other one is petty pissed," Jereth giggled, remembering the scene. "That's when I came in here to help." Roy sighed and sheathed his GS. "Ok. Let's go." Jasmine was smiling, the sun shining off of her freshly washed face. She rested on the pier in camp while the guys talked about Roy's recent kill and all the good carvings they got out of it. They spent the night there in camp, the boys lie on the grass while Jasmine had the privacy of the large tent and cot. In the morning they prepared to leave, tying the Rathalos tail up with nets and harnessing it to a wild apinoth. It was stubborn, but with some fierce convincing the beast was tamed and carried all of them back to Aerinthia. ***Constructive Critisism Wanted*** This message was edited by BashenMan on Jun 02 2007. ------------------- ![]() Shameless Advertisement *^* = I am a liar! Thanks. I know I write a lot, and a battle between the hunters and the wyverns takes a long time, but I like the battles to be dramatic. I'm still trying to decide how they will upgrade their armor/weapons and then I'm thinking of taking it to a new level. Something that (I don't think) has been written yet.

No I like your descriptions better. Like instead of me saying rathalos every friggin' time, you use Wyvern King, King of the Skies, Crimson King, etc. I'm going to have to start with that in my next installments. I also love how you descrpbed the Dragon Element consuming and wrapping around the los. Excellent!
Although, you gave me a killer idea! ------------------- ![]() Shameless Advertisement *^* = I am a liar! PSN = Bashen

**Still haven't gotten to that killer idea yet, but check this out! Killer idea coing next.**
Upon their return the townsfolk took little notice of them until Jasmine's mother, Shahana, screamed and started running towards them! Jasmine hopped off of the Rathalos tail she was riding on and rub to her mother. The scene was sweet, a mother and a daughter embracing after such a long time. Sera took notice and dropped everything she was doing. Wish a blushing face and tears in her eyes she took hold of Jereth and held him tightly. "I'm sorry Mom," said Jereth as he buried his face in her shoulder. "No, baby. I should have never said those horrible things to you," she replied. "C'mon, let's get you boys fed." Jereth and Roy said their goodbyes to Jasmine and followed Sera home where they enjoyed a wonderful cooked meal of steak, rare onions, and sirloin eggs. Jereth and Roy told Sera of their adventures while saving Jasmine from the Rathalos all night until they all retired to bed. In the morning they ate a hearty breakfast and did some chores for Sera while she relaxed. They were happy to help out, Jereth especially, somewhat feeling like the old days when his family wasn't so broken. They spent a week there before Jereth approached his mother. "Roy and I have decided to become full-time hunters, join the guild in Bordertown, and make a name for ourselves." Sera bent her head down low solemnly. "I know, baby. I knew it every since you first played with your father's sword in the yard when you were just a boy," she said. "Just remember that no matter where you are or what you're facing I'm right behind you. You have my full support and you will always be my Legendary Hero or Aerinthia." She held his head in both hands and gently placed a kiss on his forehead before hugging one more time. "I have something for you," Jereth said as he reached in his pocket and pulled out a long beautiful necklace. It was made of silver chain and a pendant hung from it made of brightly polished carbalite ore shaped like an oval and set in a large wyvern fang. "I took the stone from when we killed the Rathalos and the fang is from the Rathian," Jereth's voice dropped low as he mentioned the Rathian and Sera knew it was from the monster that had brutally murdered her husband. He placed it around her neck and she took hold of it to look at it up close. "This is the most beautiful thing anyone has every given to me, Jereth. You are truly the best son a mother could hope for. I have something for you as well, but I must see your father's sword first. Jereth obliged, although confused. Sera took the blade and knelt in the middle of the living room. Throwing the rug back she revealed a hidden door. From inside she removed a long box that was wrapped in old dusty cloth. She placed it on the floor and smiled at Jereth. "Go on. Open it." He rushed to the box and dropped to his knees. He was always excited about presents as they were so rare for him! He undid the latch and opened the box to reveal several stacks of Z that were clumsily thrown in there. He gasped. "Your father buried that the day we moved into this village and found out that I was pregnant with you. This is your schooling funds and since you have decided to become a hunter, I guess it's appropriate." "But this is so much money! Surely you could use it!" He exclaimed. "No Honey. It's yours. There's something else in there. And don't call me Shirley." She chuckled. She had always had a great sense of humor. He lifted some stacks of money to reveal a glowing white light. Reaching in he pulled out a long sword that glowed brightly. "This is the sword your father used before I met him. He hid it from you and everyone else because it's so dangerous," She explained. "Dangerous?" Asked Jereth "Yes, that sword is a one of a kind. No one has ever seen it or heard about it or have any idea on how to make it. You might have to defend yourself against other hunters with it. You father used his blacksmithing skills to create it and keep it for himself. He called it Rathilor." Jereth could see that parts from a Rathalos and a Rathian had been used to create it. The glow faded from light until it was a dull green and red. Sera bent down again and lifted the shield from underneath the floor. It was amazing! It looked like a Rathalos' and a Rathian's Head had been severed off, cut in half and fused together to make the shield! Rathalos on the right and Rathian on the left! A carbalite ore and a firestone had replaced there eyes and shown brightly when hit with sunlight. "This is fantastic, Mom! I can't believe he never told me about this!" He took hold of the shield and placed it on his arm. Roy was quick to rush over and examine it too. "Your father used those ores specifically for the eyes. He said it would boost the shield defense and give it some fire resistance. At first he hid it from you because he was afraid you would become a hunter. Now I suppose he would want you to have it," She said, but was interrupted by a crash of lightning and a loud roar of thunder. "That was close," said Roy. "We'd better stay here tonight and leave in the morning." Jereth agreed and that night he went to bed and filled his head with dreams of his new life and his new weapon! ------------------- ![]() Shameless Advertisement *^* = I am a liar! PSN = Bashen

re: [FanFic] The Hunter Draconis (Huge Addition)
|
|
They awoke early the next morning and after a brief goodbye, the two left the house and made their way into town to stock up for their journey. After they had completed their purchases the two left the town. At the edge of the town they were greeted by Jasmine. She was clad in ioprey armor and had a light bowgun strapped to her back. She waved at them standing in front of a wheel cart which was strapped to a large apinoth. "Ready to go?" She asked, removing her cap and tossing it onto the wheel cart.
"Are you serious? What's all that stuff?" Roy asked, surprised that she decided to join them. "Food, tents, BBQ spits, ammo, other supplies, and Jeri," She replied. "Jeri's coming too?" Jereth asked. "Why?" Roy looked at the two of them, still pretty shocked. "Who the hell is Jeri?!" Just then he felt a poke on his backside and jumped with a start. "I'm Jeri," said a large, fat felyne carrying a small bag which was tossed onto the cart. She waved up to Roy and smiled. At least it kind of looked like a smile. The felyne was so fat that it had jowls like a basset hound and the extra skin on her face covered most of her eyes. After all of Jereth's and Roy's objections had been shot down the crew made their way towards Bordertown. This was going to be a long trip because Roy and Jeri had gotten off to a bad start and were already making fun of each other. It turns out that Jasmine was a pretty good marksman. She stood on the cart as they traveled taking out the occasional vespoid or mosswine as they traveled the bumpy, unpaved roads. Their way towards Bordertown required them to travel up a mountain path that eventually came down a valley in which the town lay. On their way they noticed a lone hunter clad in Gravios armor seemingly talking into the mountain face. Upon noticing them his eyes got wide in surprise and stepped inside the mountain! Jereth stopped the apinoth and hopped down to examine where the hunter had just been. There was nothing! No hole in the wall, no cave to go in, nothing! He banged on the mountain face with the hilt of his sword and gasped. The stone seemed to be hollow! He banged harder until he heard a voice on the other end. It seemed slightly muffled, but he could heard it just fine. A burly, gruff voice yelled at him. "What do you want?! What's the password?" "What kind of place it this? How to we get in?" Jereth inquired. "State the password!" The voice on the other end yelled back to him. "We don't know the password." "Then get the hell out of here, kid, and take your buddies with you. This is not a place for the inexperienced!" The gruff voice yelled back. "Ok, ok, ok. I have a password," Jereth said before clearing his voice. "I have a big, fat felyne with a large barrel bomb placed right here. Open the door." The rock face opened up quickly. It was huge, big enough for a carriage! A large man clad in black belt armor charged out and took hold of Jereth by the neck by surprise. "You little twerp! I'll teach you to threaten me!" He raised a fist to strike but stopped short when a normal round wizzed past his ear. Jasmine stood on top of the cart, her bowgun resting on her hip. "You'll put him down and give us the explanation he asked for. Now." Jereth was dropped to the ground as the man stood. "Name's Grim. This here is my place. I train hunters, breed wyverns, hold competitions, and enlist members into my force. Interested?" They all gasped. "BREED WYVERNS?!" They all screamed in unison! Grim crossed his arms and nodded, motioning them inside. "Welcome to the Hidden Wyvern Training Facility." The entrance led to through a short tunnel and opened up into something unimaginable! There was a hidden valley in the midst of the mountain range! Almost 100ft below them was a large plain full of well-kept grass and several large buildings! A large enclosed arena was built of stone and cement in the middle of the plain. Large bleachers surrounded the arena. The bleachers were filled with hundreds of people who were watching a lone hunter take on two Gypceros on his own. "That there is Sebastian," said Grim. "He's one of our 10 top-ranked hunters here HWT. Tough as stone and smarted than anyone I've ever met. There two turkey-wyverns are toast, literally. Look." He motioned towards the arena where large explosions of fire were randomly being emitted down below. "That blade is my own design. I call it Barbaroi Blade. It's got more fire element than anything that's ever been created." Upon one of the Gypceros being struck from the blade it turned and ran to a corner of the arena and attempted to climb out, but was stopped by large rolls of razor wire that lined the inside walls. It cowered in fear, turned away from the fight and stuck its head underneath one of its wings. The crowd burst into a fury of laughter! "C'mon. Let's get closer," Grim took the reigns of the apinoth and led them down a winded trail that ended near the largest building in the valley. "This is our main building that serves as barracks and an education center. Here trainees sleep and learn about different wyvern's characteristics, weaknesses and behavioral patterns. Our instructors stay in that building there." He pointed to a smaller building that lay just down the cobbled walkway. The building looked newer and in better condition than the one they stood in front of. "Students are not permitted," Grim said in a low and commanding tone. "Understand?" They all nodded in unison and followed him inside of the barracks. Meanwhile, Sebastian continued to chase the Gypceros around the arena. It continued to run and cower from him until being attacked by the second Gypceros. Seeing this opportunity, Sebastian ran towards both of them with a mighty war cry and slain them both with minimal swings. The crown roared while felyne carved the Gypceros and ran off, taki9ng the prizes to Sebastian's prize box. The trio stayed in HWT for a few weeks and made a small name for themselves as the best trio in the valley. Jereth had kept his Rathilor hidden for the entire time, not wanting to cause himself too much attention. So far, the trio had slain two Rathalos, four Rathian, six Kut Ku, and an entire army of bullfango. One morning Jereth heard a large banging on his barrack's room door. When he opened it a small felyne told him to meet down in the common room with Grim. This was normal for Jereth as this was always how he'd gotten his assignments. When he got there Jasmine and Roy were already down there complaining. "What's going on?" Jereth asked, rubbing his eyes. "We're going on assignments, separately," Jasmine protested. "He's breaking up our team," Roy balled up a fist in anger. "Only temporarily. I want everyone here to see your strengths separately. They know you're all great as a team," Grim turned to each of them and spoke. "Jasmine, you are an expert marksman. You will go against a pack of 10 genprey. Roy, you're greatsword skills rival even that of Sebastian. The dreaded water wyvern, Plesioth for you. Jereth, your agility and the speed of your sword is like nothing I've ever seen. You're assignment is the most deadly we have to offer. You will be given our full support. You will be given flash bombs, first-aid meds, two rations, and a special potion to speed up your recovery. It called an immunizer. Two ballista towers will be manned by Jasmine and Roy in case things get two dangerous, but they won't use them if we don't have to. You will have to have complete trust in your friends." "What the hell do I need all THAT for?!" Jereth demanded! He looked angry and scared as his two companions screamed in unison. "Yeah!" "You will go against a pair of Raths. 10 velociprey will be released one by one after the first one dies. Only Sebastian and I have ever done this. In order to beat us you have to complete this under 34 minutes, cut off their tails, cut off their claws, and kill all the velociprey." "You've got to be kidding me!" Jereth fell over, plopping down in a large comfortable chair. "No. You have 1 week to prepare yourself. I suggest you visit the instructor's barracks first thing. Bring the equipment you plan to use in your fight." With that, he departed out the door and towards the arena where four low-class hunters were taking on a Khezu. Jereth sunk down into the chair and put his face in his hands. "How am I ever going to do this ?" Tell me what you guys think? I never get any feedback! I really like it, one thing though: Mostly everyone uses a rathalos or rathian so you could make jereths second fight a gravios or diablos or khezu or maybe even plesioth because we havent seen a plesioth fight yet.

I already had some killer ideas for the rath fight, so I changed Roy's to a Plessy. Which means I'm goign to have to create a water arena or change locations temporarily. Should be fun, though!
