Quick info thread (unofficial info thread) "Gundam at its best"

www.gametrailers.com has a preview of the 360s's new gundam game, which borrows many elements from the Battlefeild 1942 (who isn't these days) gameplay style.

If you've been locked in a closet with R. Kelly all these years and have no clue as to what 1942's gameplay was like, here's the rundown. In short your played as the soldiers of the various nations during WWII, and went at it online of offline (with bot support). The game was most memorable for the pilotable vehicles you could take into battle, solo, or having buddies join in as drivers/turret gunners/etc. Since then the Starwars Battlefront series has also borrowed heavily from EA's Battlefeild franchise, and now it's Bandai's turn.

The trailer features quick shots of what seem to be in-game rendered (though pre scripted perhaps) battlescenes... from the perspectives of a soldier on the ground, a soldier in a mobile suit cockpit, and of the suit itself in all its new age console powered glory.

It's yummy yummy goodness, and if the game engine does for us what battlefeild did for pc gamers, it'll be gundam on consoles at its best.

FINALLY.

re: Quick info thread (unofficial info thread) "Gundam at its best"

its been awhile fellas ive been on hiatus but i had to come back cuz i got a bone to pick with this game.

now i realise that its probablly nowhere near completion how could it the environment look like garbage as if they were thrown together in 1o minutes and all the gameplay previews u see hand to hand, ms vs ms, hand vs ms, boosting shooting, first person and cockpit view, enter mobile suits, but wheres the close range combat, the beam sabers and heat hawks.

but 1 good thing i do have to say is E3's preview for the ps3 gundam looks spectacular, phew, i know i need to relax a little

Jeesh. Give it some time. It's nowhere near releasal, and by the time it is things are going to have to be balanced for the type of game it has to be. A game based on the Battlefield series isn't likely to have intense arcade style melee combat; rather it'll probably be one single slash attack that's quite powerful. Given there will probably only be 2-3 MS per side on maps that do have them (the rest will be ground infantry and possibly tank drivers/gunners), those MS will need to rely on long range attacks. Considering the ground targets, you wouldn't need melee. Letting another MS get close to you is what you wouldn't want in this type of game; you'd want to take that guy out before he gets that close. Unless you can sneak up on him, which probably won't be so easy.

Am I right in thinking this is the same game? "Gundam: Operation Troy"?

I'm trying to revive this forum, but most of those pictures are from Gundam Crossfire and not Operation Troy. Its set for release in OCT of this year.

re: Quick info thread (unofficial info thread) "Gundam at its best"

I don't know if this game is ever coming out in the U.S. They reset the date every time it comes around. This year had a release date of March 31. Day comes and goes, still less than no sign of it anywhere outside of news and ideas.

If they're going to keep this B.S. up they might as well not give any update and allow it to get into stores by my estimated date of ten minutes before the world erupts into a ball of flames.

I'm a big Gundam fan, and this game looks like the one I'll be playing well into my adult life. If it ever hits store shelfs before I die.
