Donkeys ????

Is it me or are donkeys a waste of bloody time ... There for ever dying and the stuff you pick up to sell seems to be worth very littl;e ... Donkeys are badddddd and pointless .. What sayeth thou ?

I actually find my pack mules pretty helpful, I loaded mine halfway down with potions everytime I went into battle and got low I just took them off of the pack. But it is true they are forever dying, but I played a mage so I could resurrect mine whenever I needed to.

My donkey fights if he gets in trouble, will run backwards at the first sign of danger, and always be right there when I need him. Infact my only problem is that I should have two, cause when it came to activating those pressure points to lower the stairs past the ice caves, i didn't have enough bodies!!! Stoopid!

donkey RULE. or pack mules, what ever.

my first time through i had 2 pack mules. my second time through i had more pack mules than characters.

this allows my characters to level up more, and me to buy them better items.

my next attemp i'm gonna try solo the whole way through.

It all depends how they are used. I currently have four! - (I am travelling solo). My usual practice is to go forward alone and clear an area - then bring up the mules. I stash them in an alcove or near a doorway, etc and transfer all the goodies I have picked up. I also use the mules to carry potions for me. So far no mule has been killed.

I agree that donkeys do suck!
after playing several times with donkeys in my party, ive found that they always die or get in my way.
It was a good idea but it'll need a lot of work in DS2 to make them worth having.

Actually I find my donksters are quite helpful, and smart, except Midnight. In my first game, Midnight was always about a mile behind the rest and got stuck now and then, but it wasn`t much of a problem. All of them though, which was Flare, Midnight, Benny, and Goldie, were pretty good in battle. The worst thing that ever happened to them is when I was in the East Swamp, I think, I disbanded them all before heading to the church((I was gonna pick them back up when I was done.)) so the zombies wouldn`t beat the crud out of them. When I was through I got them all and poor Flare was being beat up by Manglers, but he only fell uncouncious before I managed to heal him again via Ulora`s Healing Hands spell. The only other problem was taht teh rest were scattered about teh immediate vicinity. My donksters are perdy much smart enough to stay away from fights, kick the crud out of anything not-human that gets to close, and keep up with me. So, I think the mules are worth it, especially on long trips with bunches of magic things/good armor/good weapons or just for keeping stuff you don`t know if you want to get rid of yet.
