New Gameplay Demo [UbiDays]

UbiSoft has released a new gameplay demo straight from UbiDays that shows the new dynamic cover system, and better yet it's played on the 360. Voiceover from Colonel Antal and Mr. Pitchford is present, as usual. The streaming version on the website is of lesser quality than the downloadable one.

I absolutely hate to double post, but a better quality version has come out on GameTrailers.

This video is pretty cool. I just hope they add in some more recoil to the weapons or it'll feel too Medal of Honor-ish, where the weapons have basically zero kick to them. And some of the debris from the explosions should be polished up, a few of the explosions looked really bad when compared to games like GRAW 2.

Meh, I guess it's just because it's still an early build.

The A.I. looked fantastic. If you look as Randy approaches the manor, two of the Germans attempt to run from the fountain to the left, and when one of them gets cut down the other decides to run back. Whether or not that was scripted, we'll see, but it was still awesome.

Good Lord, I couldn't help but drooling.

Things I particularly liked:

Ability to peek around corners
Artificial Intelligence
Destructibility/General Interactivity of environments
Slow-motion sequences

Things that it left me wondering:

Have they done away with Situational Awareness?
Is the red screen supposed to be the health system or something?
Does the game sound authentic/realistic (my sound card is busted)?

re: New Gameplay Demo [UbiDays]

Situational awareness has been changed into a map of sorts that will give you objectives and pointers as to where you want to go, as well as information on your men and who's doing what. It isn't like a Call of Duty black and white map, but it's no longer situational awareness mode. Hell's Highway's mission system is in a whole new interface that has no loading screens and changes through small cut scenes so it's basically just one huge mission. It gives you the ability to make your own decisions and what path to go on, picture it like a WW2 GTA only a wee bit more linear.

Not sure on the second one. I think and hope so.

On the third one, hell yes.

Sounds fine to me. I always had a nagging feeling when I was using SA that I was sort of "cheating".

You're just using what the developers gave you. Nothing wrong in that.

Yes, but seeing how realistic the rest of the game was, being able to see real-time locations of your enemies just didn't feel right.

No, that's just supposed to be a "danger meter" sort of thing. Personally, I know I'll be playing with it turned off. It seems like it'll get annoying after a while.

re: New Gameplay Demo [UbiDays]

So, is the damage system like the one found in Call of Duty 2: after taking a few too many heats, the screen goes red, you get to cover, and eventually recover without the use of health packs. Seems to be taking away some of the realism. The original system was fine for me; it forced you to actually think, and it completely did away with the annoying "got to find that medipack from two battles back" issue.

No. Why do so many people think that? You're at least the hundreth person I've seen who asked that question. The health system is the same as the previous games, the screen only turns red if you are in a dangerous situation. The darker the red gets, the more likely you are to get shot.

re: New Gameplay Demo [UbiDays]

i personally would like to see the advent of a medic in the squad, like in Pacific Assault, that would really lay on the "brotherhood" aspect and the storyline, but keep out the health packs.

Well, hey, sorry, but I have too much to do to devote myself to finding these things out. Thanks for the answer, though. I appreciate it.
