Need a little help, I just keep dying when I run down into the boiler rooom of the ship. The girl say "you'll have to find away round him". But there is only one way in the boiler room and when I enter he lets off this gas and boom I dead. Any tips?

I basically ended up in the water, and shot him while i was in the water, at first i tried sneaking up to him, then i just died even though he didnt see me, so i did the next best thing and shoot him in the water
