Is anybody still playing this game? (July, 2004) If so - share tips. I've got great cheats!

Hi there! Well, i still play arcatera sometimes. Might be able to help ya out... and you might be able to help me out Cause at some point in the game Lisza always gets mad at me... pretty much did everything to please the lass.. just dont seem to work though... got any tips? And what about those cheats of yours?

Glad to hear someone else has picked the game up again. I've had to figure out as much as possible with only the help from this forum (no others on the web). Game is tricky.

Lizsa: If you ask her too many questions she'll get miffed! To rekindle her you must give her a gift, but she won't take money or jewels. Give her the Magic Bow, you can always get it back.

Has she offered to "join up" yet? If not, you must win her over with the prospect of riches. She has to be wowed. Have you thrown the dice with the little guy at the Adventure Club? You must win at least 50 gold pieces and Lizsa will hang around and offer to join your party, if you strike up a conversation. She'll agree to join but will ask that first you "give little Lizsa a gift" to close the deal.

If you already know this and Lizsa joined the group and said she can help because she knows her way around and knows people, remember, she is part of the Black Sun and can't be trusted. If she says she has to take care of something and disappears for a day or so, when she returns she may offer you some mistletoe.

If you have already gotten the Prince's Scepter and Lizsa disappears - check your inventory. If she has taken the staff you won't find it on her.

I am glad to see the new interest in this wonderful game. This is the first time I ever played an RPG. I haven't gotten bored yet. But, I am very patient and I am not easily bored.

About Lizsa. She offered to get me some of the mistletoe potion for 200 gold coins. I paid her and now she can't be found! HELP!

Here's one: have you wondered how you could ever find enough gold or jewels, or sell enough dead mercenaries' weapons to become the High Priest's "biggest donor"? In order to bribe him into possibly having Rog executed, you'll need a lot of money!

If you need unlimited gold coins let me know.

Has anyone found a way to use teleportation in this game? Wasn't Orgen's teleportation staff taken by the black lord? Is there any significance to knowing this?

Some other questions for you. What do I do with the paste I found at Zon Lathon's?

Was anyone able to get upstairs or in the cellar of Zon Lathon's house?

Have you been able to get Zon Lathon to open his door after he's invited you to visit him at his house?

'bout cheats: i recently downloaded a trainer. I took a look on google to see were i got it from... found several sites, this one seems thrustworthy:

There are 2 versions german and UK... unless either of you is German, i d go for UK. I also know there are three patches, i got them all. Thing is, that though the patches kill several bugs, it changes most of the in-game texts and tags to German... but i guess you people knew that already.
What more do you have for cheats?
I ll also look in on that teleportation stuff, but i never heard bout it before... see ya!

Oh and concering zon lathon:

the paste is to put on a shield: helps you beat a creature later in the game (won't spoil it all, unless you want me to of course )

as far as i know you can't enter his cellar or upper floor

i ve never gotten in his house a legal way: i bash his door in, run in and then spray him with patience, non irritate and friendly spells... then as the girl mage (welldressed) be nice and compliment till he s your friend... good luck!

oh and concerning that potion from Lisza: you will meet her again eventually... than she give the potoin. be patient

I was really surprized, and pleased to find the link you posted, Lukes. Thanks. I'll use it next time I play.

How long have you guys been playing Arcatera? Have you ever beat the game? I've found a lot of tricks and work-arounds for some of the bugs, but I've only finished twice, and lost both times, But I have over fifty save games at various stages with all four characters.

Caseylane. I did find a way to teleport into midtown as the magician. I've also been able to teleport into the library as the monk. Ask me and I'll tell you how.

i've been playing it for a couple of weeks every year since i bought. never really got to the end though, i always get totally frustrated halfway thru Hass
but i understand nobody ever played it succesfully... quite a desillusionating (is that a word in english?) thought.
But im not really interessed in savegames... wanna do it all by my self (and cheat myself blind with that trainer :0 )
Ive also tried hacking about a little, but its to damn complicated. German enginering: irreproachable

but i am quite intersseted in that teleportation....

I downloaded the Character Editor - pretty good. But before I got that tip from you I had to hack the Midtown weapons dealer's trade menu so it spins to unlimited amount of money when you sell him something back. I think it's a glitch, but it works. Woolenar actually changes his tone of voice and says IT'S NOT GOING TO WORK THAT WAY! instead of "it won't work it won't work" when you try to get something too big for your inventory so maybe it is part of the game.

I thought it was a glitch also when I first teleported. I was going up the rope outside the tower in Westham when one of my characters on observation mode (at another location) called. I clicked his picture (when you're looking up at the top of the tower. It took me to his location, but when I clicked the mage to go back to her she was in MIDTOWN, between Bobart's and the Al Duma Magna. It works every time. If the Monk is the lead character you'll end up in the library, the adventurer at the road into the forest, the thief just goes to Eastwarts. I found that you can also teleport from the cellar window where you spy on the secret gatherings. I think it would be from any scene where you can't pull up the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. Let me know if you find any others. Oh yeah, getting back out of Midtown at night once you've teleported - that's ANOTHER story.

Have you ben able to find the "elegant clothes" for the thief? The only other clothes I've found are the City Councillor's cape and hat hanging from the coat rack in City Hall lobby, but can't lift them.

Funny, that teleporting... might work as well when you're checking the fund report in the temple hall....

i haven't found any good clothes for the thief. I do have dresses for the mage (1 from the same house as the magic bow, 1 from Elvira, and 1 I found in Bobart's house before i returned elvira (guess i got the same one twice (which also works with his giant amethist and zon's paste))) and i stole a monk's garment from the high priest. As far as i know there aint no fine clothes for the thief or adventurer... do you have confirmation there are???

pretty amazing editor huh? i'm really impressed somebody took the time to make it for a game that's hardly ever been really happening.....

The only upgrade I've found for the Adventurer is his armor (which changes his outward appearance) even though it won't get him into the Al Duma, when he asks about 'elegant clothes' often the response is "what you are wearing seems quite dandy. . . " or something like that.

About Lizsa and the iron will potion. I tried like you said, gave her the 200 gold and found her at the entrance to the forest (much later) When I opened a dialogue she offered to join up again. When she does she immediately walks off, leaving my party menu. I know she has the potion on her, because I quicksaved, and fought her and a bunch of orcs where she dies and I check her inventory, amazing! the potion is there. I restart the game and return from time to time to check on why she is standing there, who is she waiting for? etc. which is when she walks off. Q. Will she still show up?

Also I would think the donation board could be a place to teleport from, also the Map, but have not yet figured out how.

When you found the Magic Bow did you also find a ball of orange powder? In past games I would give it to Zon to win him over, but with the increased attributes (thanks for tip re. editor) he now explains it is used to cause people who have made themselves invisible, visible again. HMMM?
Have you ever had to fight an invisible enemy in the forest? I wonder if the two are related? I know I could use the powder on the Basilisk and perhaps Hahl Ganon when he spirits himself away, maybe. Let me know.

Hi there!

Sometimes when I play the game Jesiarer and Zadax are nowhere to be found. Is there something I can do to make them appear in the game?. I've tried asking questions about them to see if they will appear but I can't find them. Could they be in the robbers camp?

I have yet to find the dragon, the robbers camp, or the ork village. I've found the tranquil place and the barbarian village once only in one game that I played.

Is Rog's treasure really in the forest? I understand there may be five places in the forest. Could there be more?

Every map I played is different as far as the trails go.. Are there any secrets to your success?

By the way, thanks to xalarcon and lukes for keeping this page alive and well. I would love to hear from anyone out there in cyberspace who has played this game to log on.
