Do you mean you want to make a request, or make a graphic that somebody else has requested? (I get confused so easily......)

No, just save the avvie to your computer(make sure it's in GIF or JPEG), and then go to your profile. Edit your bio/photo, and click browse, which is under the heading labeled Edit your Photo. Find your avvie and click open, then click finish at the very bottom. It may take a few minutes to appear though.

Nope you don't.
Just copy and paste it to your computer.
To upload it as your avatar, click 'profile' in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Then click where it says 'edit bio/photo'. You should now have a page that says interests, biography, and profile photo. Scroll down to where it says profile photo and click the browse button. You can then select your avatar and finally click the finish button at the bottom of the page. ^^
