Model Planes and other stuff...

So i assembled some model planes and i thought i'd post pics of 'em. Tell me what you think of them. I'll post more pics every now and then.

So heres the first one:

Guess what inspired the paintjob...

very Nice it's paintjob reminds me of Dietrich "Boss" Kellerman lead flight of "Silber" air squadron, consist with 1 F-4E "PhantomII"(him) and 4 F-16C "Fighting Falcon" or if i made mistake with the first maybe it was inspired from F-15E "Gunn" which appeared in AC4, Mission "Safe Return",he..he nice work, show me more PLEAAASE

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

Thats a cool F-4E, and yeh, it looks a lot like the Silver Eagle.

Only model Ive ever done was a MiG-15 (Which I gave as a gift to someone) hehehe, and a very small one, like 15cms long, 10 wide... well, I recently bought a Su-37, which just by the look of the pieces, looks beyond my ability, this is 40cms long and 30 wide, but Ill do my best, as for the painting, one thing crossed my mind... Yellow Squadron, II am going back to Uni this monday so I will totally out of that thing they call "spare time", so it might take a while but Ill post here as soon as it is done, wish me luck so I dont die by accidentally swallowing the glue.

Thats a nice Hornet next to the Phantom Jet too.

Seriously. You can stop saying that. We understand. How about you just put that in your signature in small text so you don't have to keep saying it.

Coi Cki, seriously, I wish I had model planes like yours. It's just that they're all glue and paint, and I ain't the kind of glue-and-paint kinda guy. O' course, I'll have to get over that some day or I'll never get any planes...

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

Here's F-16C.

Assembling time from package to painting about three and a
half hours.

And here's the Super Hornet

I'll post my latest project once i'm finished with it.
It's a B-24D Liberator, with wingspan of around 60cm.

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

Now I am really thinking seriously about getting to work on my Su-37 as soon as possible so I have something to show too.

Both your hornet and your falcon are pretty cool, mind if I ask some advice?? Should I paint the weapons before attaching them to the plane?? Do I wait till the whole mode is painted before placing the canopy?

Any advice on how to make a good camo pattern?? For example if I wish to make a snow white camo with black and grey lines, I just do it manually?

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

You might want to paint the inside of the cockpit first.

Glue the plane together. Leave the cockpit's hatch or window or whatever it's called, until you've painted the plane so you won't mess it with paint.
Now if there are supports, that need to be painted on the hatch, paint'em with a thin brush. The missile pods are usually painted the same as the underside of the plane, so you can glue them on, too.

Now, the camo painjob, first, paint the base color, i'd use the color it'll have the most then start applying the camouflage. Step-by-step.

When you've done with the plane itself, paint the weapons and glue'em on when the paint's dry.

Then, the images.

1. Get warm water on a tea-plate, or something similar

2. Cut the images off with scissors, for every image, leave enough paper, so you can get a hold of it, without touching the image

3. Soak the image with the paper in the warm water (a bit warmer than the room temperature)

4. Move your finger on the image under the water, when it gets loose, take it out of the water, with the paper.

5. Put the image with the paper on the place it goes on the plane and while holding the image in place, gently pull the paper off from under it.

6. Adjust the image so it's in right place

7. Dry it with a small piece of toilet paper. Don't pull it, but tap softly.

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

Alright, I've actually taken note of all of it on a notebook, as I said, I did a MiG15, but it had very basic paint job and no images to it, and I actually messed the canopy with the painting ><.

Well, in the end I gave it to someone, though I reckon its not a magnificent job, I hope that someone still keeps it sagfe and likes it as I did.

I am just back in the University today, which takes 85% of the time I dont spend sleeping, so I dont know when I will start making my model but I hope it can be real soon, and I really hope I can show it here someday along with further models... Well, thanks a lot for the help.

I'd like to announce my next model project...
The Galm squadron. I'll be getting two F-15s and paint them to look like the Galm flight. I'll buy the models and more paint after the end of the month, so look forward to them then.

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

he...he..Cki i'm also work a model of my own but unfortunately, one of my best nemesis the "Financial Problem" get in my way,i cant buy a model planes like you guys but however as Newbie Hacker things i need to do is "crack em off" like what i planning to do on my University's Website however it's start from this simple sketch of my very own model the ADF-XX-08 "Sheilfalkyr"

poorly drawn ? sorry, i belive you guys can do better than i
now i'm currently modelling that sketch to a usable parts for me to assembly, using my best friend Corel Draw software

poorly made ? sorry i'll try to improve my skill, better
but however i'm still screwed up in made her cockpit, damn it's quite complicated, and guys maybe you have a suggestion for me about what to do, i believe you have even more advanced version of Graphic design software maybe like CorelX3 or latest version of Adobe Illustrators or Macromedia Freehand, and surely designing something like that is only a piece of cake for you, well i'll keep trying hope i can finish her prototype in the end of this week, when i'm done with her i'll post it right away and about paintjob i'll use photoshop since i'm completely blind about the art of Model painting.he..he wish me luck and for anyone who celebrate, HAPPY ISLAMIC NEW YEAR 1428 Hijriyah

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

Hehehhe, well, the model I am doing (80% done with the assembly), came boxed at the cost of 20 US Dollars, it wasnt that expensive, what you want to do however would be, perhaps expensive as you want it done from the scratch, custom made, well... the latest version of AUTOCAD is what I would use, as it is perfect for mechanical drawing, its a software for engenering yeh, it can modelate solids and apply textures to it without major difficulties, well, then again, its pretty much quite basic when compared to a CG making software as Maya, but that one is pretty complicated for my understanding and need a good computer to operate... I wish you the best of luck, anything is possible with imagination, will and hearth.

"We got the pride it takes to win" (Larry Foulke, May 1995)

That is some nice work with the Liberator, I am deffo painting my Su-37 as Yellow's Squadron, actually, the red star from the Russian Air Force aint so Different to EAF insignia, both are red... so yeh Ill use em...

I have to install all pylons into the plane and I still have to assemble all missiles and paint em as well, at the moment I only have Red, blue and yellow painting, I have white too but I dont trust it, its like... dunno, its too old, I need to go get more white and of course, lots of black and grey... hey, can you give me advice on how to store the painting bottles so it stays usefull over the months??

Supplies for modelling are so hard to get here in Mexico, I dont have tools, but I reckon, I am pulling miracles with an old swiss army knife and a toe nail cutter.

Apparently the Armada here in my country, that is the navy here in Mexico is getting brand new Su-27's, just a few of them, a squadron plus a couple for training, and a couple of Su-30's as well, which really makes me happy as all of air material is quite old already, but as soon as they are on service flying their new colours I am getting more model Su's and paint em like that.

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

Nice work, all of you. I wish I could get the materials for all that stuff, but I don't have a job yet. By the way, Xenostrike 06, try using the FALKEN in free flight mode in the game, and looking around from the cockpit view. The canards are closer to the front

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

Yeah Sum,that's right but it's not falken it's my own " ADF-XX-08 Sheilfalkyr" i believe you can see 2 pods over it's engine section it's wave gun pods and falken has CVV fin in it's fuselage, but Sheilfalkyr didn't posses any of it,and other major differences are it's nosecone and rear stabilizers,FALKEN Has only a pair of rear stabilizers but sheilfalkyr has 2, one act as regular rear stabilizers while another one is Ion Accelerator for accelerating plasma generated by it's engine as a means of propulsion, and of course different creator FALKEN was created by Belkan Grunder Industries while Sheilfalkyr created by Yuktobanian TsAGI and Usean ARC (Aviation Research Center)that's all their differences other differences will be explained later after i'm done with assembling it's model he..he

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

I can't wait to see it. I had a feeling that wasn't the Falken. The canards are okay where they are, but as a suggestion, make the area behind the cockpit a little wider, or shorter. Now if only we could put that in the game...

re: Model Planes and other stuff...

yep, thanks for your suggestion,he..he that's what i want ,a feedback, maybe i'll do that in the secondary model or in soon-came-up ADF-XX-07 "Siderneva" or ADF-XX-06 "Siphonerva",and about putting it in the game, maybe it'll only possible if i were included in AC creator team otherwise, when i'm graduate from University or when i got my home computer upgraded,i'll try to obtain 3D game studio,LightWave(hopefully the latest one) and maybe the 3D Studio Max,and related references such as a books(wish me luck for this in Indonesia Computer related books are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE or maybe i can borrow from someone) and of course friends who'll give feedback to me when i'm done in "Creating my own Ace Combat"
