Requirements: - Have a Legendary Item (DUH). - Have ~30 Mr. Gency Exits. - Have 8 single stat specialists of any level. - Optional: A character with flying ability and lots of movements (Tink or Mothmen recommended) for speed clearing.
Here are the list of the single stat specialists, in case you don't know: - Dietician (HP) - Master (SP) - Gladiator (ATK) - Sentry (Def) - Tutor (INT) - Physician (RES) - Marksman (HIT) - Coach (SPD)
Note that there are two kinds of mystery rooms that can increase your item's levels. - The fortune teller (horrible luck: -9lv, bad luck: -3lv, good luck: +3lv, great luck: +10lv). - The mystery room with 7 of a kind monsters (+3lv). They MUST all be defeated before the end of the 2nd turn.
Note that if you use a Mr. Gency Exit on a particular floor, there won't be a mystery portal on that floor, no matter how many times you reset. The only way to solve this is to clear 10 floors of another item and then go back. Actually, 3 floors are enough, but why not go for 10 to get a Mr. Gency Exit for your supply?
Another important note on mystery portals: Once you've seen a mystery portal on a particular floor, there won't be another mystery portal for the next 3 floors.
Alrighty, before we start leveling the item, we have to empty the item first. So go into the item world floor 1. Do you see a specialist? If no, reset. If yes, kill it and use Mr. Gency Exit to go back to HQ and save. Do this for all of the unsubdued specialists in the item. Once the all of the specialists are subdued, move them into other items. Next, put in 6 specialists that you want to help you with raising the item (like put 6 gladiators of ANY level, if you want your item to have more attack growth when it levels up).
Now for the important parts (really crucial!): - When you get to floor 30, after you beat the Item King the first time and then exit the item world, the item will have 1 more population slot. Put in 1 more specialist. After you beat the Item King the second time, it will have 1 more slot, put another specialist in, so you'll have 8 single stat specialists in that item. - After floor 30, any other floors that are multiples of 10 (40, 50, etc.), I recommend clearing the floor after you beat the boss the second time to keep your Mr. Gency Exit supply up.
That should be all you need/need to know to start making the perfect item. Now, just follow these steps.
1. Go into the item world floor 1. If there is a mystery portal, enter it (if no mystery portal, reset). Is it Fortune Teller or 7 Monsters? If yes (and either receive +3lv, good luck, or great luck), proceed to the next step. If no, reset.
2. Proceed to floor 3, use Mr. Gency Exit to go back to HQ and save.
3. Enter item world again. Go to floor 4. If there is a mystery portal, enter it (if no mystery portal, reset). Is it Fortune Teller or 7 Monsters? If yes (and either receive +3lv, good luck, or great luck), proceed to the next step. If no, reset.
4. Proceed to floor 6, use Mr. Gency Exit to go back to HQ and save.
5. Enter item world again. Go to floor 7 (or 8, if there's no portal on floor 7). If there is a mystery portal, enter it (if no mystery portal, reset). Is it Fortune Teller or 7 Monsters? If yes (and either receive +3lv, good luck, or great luck), proceed to the next step. If no, reset.
6. Proceed to floor 10, beat the Item General, but do NOT clear the floor. Use Mr. Gency Exit to go back to HQ and save.
7. Enter item world again, beat the Item General again, and enter the Exit Portal. You can clear the floor, but it will take a lot more time than just going to the exit. Go to next step.
8. Did you enter Innocent Town and see the Assembly Chicken? If no, reset. If yes, pass the "More ... growth" bill (replace ... with whatever stat you want to focus on; it's better if the stat is the same type as the specialists you have, like "More ATK growth" if you're using gladiators). After passing the bill, talk to the Dimension Guide and choose "Exit Item World". SAVE NOW.
9. When you've cleared floor 90, STOP AND READ THE REST OF INFO BELOW.
Okay, that's it for the first 10 floors. So basically all you need to do now is do exactly the same thing: - Look for mystery portals on floors 1, 4, 7 or 8. - Use Mr. Gency Exit on floors 3, 6, and 10 to save. - Kill the item generals, kings (floors 30,60,90), or god (floor 100) twice for the bonus stat growths.
Okay, after you've cleared floor 90, look at your item's level. If you've done everything correctly and didn't get a "Great Luck" from a Fortune Teller mystery room, you'll have a total of 171 lv on your item. How, you ask? Read on. - Total floors you've cleared so far: 90 floors = 90 lvls. - Total additional levels you've acquired from the mystery rooms: 3 per room, 3 rooms per 10 floors, and 90 floors so far, so that's 9*9 = 81 lvls. - Add them and you get 171 as a total, again, assuming you didn't have any "Great Luck".
Now this is really crucial if you want to get your item to lv 200:
1. Go into floor 91 and see if there's a Mystery Portal or not. If not, reset. If yes, you know what to do. Do this until you get 1 Great Luck from the Fortune Teller dude.
2. After you get 1 Great Luck, use Mr. Gency Exit and save. DO NOT PROCEED TO FLOOR 92, STAY ON 91. Now the level of your item should be 181. Since you've used a Mr. Gency Exit on floor 91, you won't get any more mystery portals on that floor. So do that I said before, clear 10 floors of another item and then go back in. Once you've done that you should see a mystery portal. If you don't see it, just keep resetting until you see one like you always do.
3. Now you're ready to continue. Just do the same steps as before, and by the time you've killed the item god the second time, you'll have 19 more levels (10 + 3 + 3 + 3 for each of the mystery portal). And that makes lv 200 item.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! You've just done one of the most tedious and time-consuming thing of Disgaea 2!
Okay, one last note. If you decided that it's too hard to get a Great Luck on floor 91, then you can just get Good Luck or 7 Monsters, but you'll need to do it 3 times to get a total of 9 levels (instead of 10 from Great Luck). If you do this, you won't get a lv 200 item, but a lv 199 item instead. Don't worry, 1 level doesn't make much difference (maybe only around 500 points of each stats). But make sure you don't do it 4 times, instead of 3, since the item will reach lv 200 BEFORE you kill the Item God twice, and you'll lose out on considerably huge bonus stat growths.
Okay, phew, that should be it. Any more questions, shoot away!
