	you can roam in a big boat or you can use the nortales, and you can choose where you wnt to go so you can roam

	There is one craft that enables flight, but you only gain access to it late on. The closest this game comes to free roaming is in the later stages of the game, you can choose an area to explore, rather than being forced to go to a specific place all the time, and you can sail around the world map looking for optional area that aren't part of the main story. ------------------- Digital Portfolio

	This game does become as free roaming as something like ff8. You receive an airship like ship that can also go underwater, meaning all the way underwater to even see underwater caves and rocks. So yes, it gets as close as you get to free roaming by disc 3.
