	Just for show. The only time you can actually scalp someone is when they're effectively defeated, they can't get up. It looked good on paper, but the way it was implemented was pretty pathetic.

	They should have implemented some kind of goal involving scalping and/or added scalping in your stats or something just to indicate it's relevance.

Scalping wasn't invented by natives nor seen and used as a ac deserving of a reward. It was invented by white men when they decided that Indian's were evil. You'd get some cash for every scalp you brought in. The Indian's took it up as revenge because people would wound or simply hold down someone, scalp them and leave them for dead...usually women and children cause it's easier to hold them down.
