WHAT IS THIS?
The "Neo Map Pack" is a bundle of maps that are user created. The maps are going to revamped versions (As of now) of the original Bungie made maps you see in Match-Making. That being said, this is the suggestions thread of that.


OVERVIEW
While we may have a decent idea of what needs to be fixed in the bungie maps, we need to hear your thoughts as we do not want to miss something. This thread is to merely ask the members of the Halo 3 forum what you think needs to be added / fixed in the maps.


HOW TO POST
Please, while there isn't a strict rule on what to post, please keep in mind that we will be looking for these. Remember, if you don't think anything needs changed (Lets say the weapons are fine or something), please don't try and make up something to fill it in:
1. Adding / Removing / Changing Weapons
2. Adding / Removing / Changing Equipment
3. Adding / Removing Scenery
4. Adding / Removing Places to Jump to.*
5. Changing Start Spawns / Respawns
6. Changing Vehicles
7. Changes in Asymmetrical gametypes
  • - Basically meaning, where would you want us to put a crate to help you jump to a certain spot that once was difficult / impossible to get to. This also means removing spots that once were abused in-game to "Cheat" or something to that extent.
For vehicles, we will not add in a vehicle to a map that normally would not have a vehicle in that map. That is why we will only look for changing the vehicle. We wont be adding a Hornet to Construct or a Mongoose to Narrows, sorry.

Asymmetrical gametypes are the gametypes they have an attacker and a defender team. Examples - One Flag, Assault.

  • - Foundry could be remade rather than revamped. It all depends on what we want to do for version 1.0.

DISCUSSION
I would love to see you guys discuss which is the best to add in and whats not. Please try not to flame anyone for posting his or her views. Also, when discussing what someone had put into the thread, PLEASE quote them to make sure we understand who and what your talking about.


HOW TO JOIN
As of right now (mainly because this has just started and were not sure if we need too many people to help out), nobody can join to help us. However, you may join main clan / group. Post in the Froot of the Darkness thread, under the Halo 3 Clans, Tournaments, Challenges forum.

  • These maps as for now (At least before we reach Foundry) will be only have a "Ranked" / "Match-Making" feel to it.

I'll do one for Guardian and Ghost Town, when it comes out next week.

I would really like to see a Neo Tourney that involves all user created maps, with several silly maps like SlowBall.

I'll update this post with the revamped Guardian as soon as I finish it.

Well, I'm guessing people didn't really understand my post too well. I just wanted the errors of already made Bungie maps mentioned for the current maps at the bottom. Rather than calling out which one you will make.

Also, we haven't attempted to revamp a map yet. We aren't sure if we have to have more help or not. However, I will surely keep you 2 in mind.

Oh yeah, for further knowledge, this are the Official Neo Tournament maps being created. The silly maps aren't being created until we get idea's during the process of making it (Which I already have tons of idea's for us )

I can do both.
I have the next week off and i can think of ideas for things like weapon placements and how to remove some camping spots in some maps.
They will be Not like random maps with rocket launchers everywere but like Replace the shotgun on snowbound with a flamethrower sort of things.

Is that what you meant?

Neo Map Pack V.1 Suggestions Thread

No, I don't want you to make a map. As stated under the "HOW TO JOIN", no body is able to 'create' a map at this moment. Once more, I have NO clue if these will be quick or not. So bear with us until we do go and create the maps. What I want to see in people's posts is errors and flaws on Epitaph, Construct, and Sandtrap. We will do the other maps later. Which hopefully we will end up doing majority of them quickly. As there is 3 people working on them.

Please, this isn't you making the map. We are creating it. We just need to know what would is bad in the maps.

For example:

Epitaph IMO needs to have less camping. We need to change the weapon spawns and where they spawn. Rather than having the shotgun at the shielded side. To also add, the rocket launcher needs to be changed to a sniper.

The jumps are fine however.

Epitaph suggestions

I think some weapons should be changed on guardian, or at least the spawn times. Too often does one team control the entire match by controlling the power weapons (rockets and shotgun). I personally don't like the invis at all. And I feel as if the map needs more BRs/carbines

*I'm honestly not sure how to make this map better. Camping the lifts is unavoidable. We'll have to get creative.

Sandtrap.
Remove BAnshe ( or add a missle Pod and add in moreVehicals ON the elefhants.
Replace Sniper with Over sheilds and put a sniper Where the Hammer is.

Eptiath:
Youve covered it all allready...



Constuct.
Place power cores Near all the grav lifts so the p[erson at the bottom can detonate these to kill campers.

MOve the spartan laser to behind the yellow gravlift and place a rocket launcher In the downstairs.
Switch sniper and energy swords

Construct I think that the sword should go in the spot underneath where it currently spawns, so that when people get it they are more in the open and actually require covering some distance before they can start to spawn camp the lifts.

It might be risky to try but possibly put an overshield in the basement room in the very center, making it easier to get up the lifts without getting killed right away, or perhaps just put a power weapon there.

Where the sword spawns I think there should be some sort of equipment, perhaps a regenerator, and just completely get rid of the power drain that is there. There is already one at the bottom of the yellow lift.


Just a few ideas, I just wanted to put in some input.

It just seems to somewhat defeat the point if you completely change the dynamic of a map to make it "better", after Bungie clearly designed the map themselves to be like that.
