Cortana. If they didn't talk the entire *bleep*ing level it wouldn't be so bad.

They're both easy. Halo 1 was just easier.

As for which is more boring, Cortana is. I have the constant Nostalgic effect when i'm playing Halo1.

The Oracle talks to you the whole time on The Library, if its the level I'm thinking of.

Yeah, but it doesn't slow you down and alter your view.

Yeah the Flood in the Library was much easier to kill. The only annoying part of that level was their numbers.

Cortana there are Flood that seemlingly cannot be killed and kill you almost instantly. And Gravemind and Cortana hijack your screen almost every couple yards throughout.

I found the enemies easier in cortana, but cortana and gravemind are just so godamn annoying, the worst part is they tend to speak before a checkpoint, so you would die and have to listen to it again, die and listen to it again etc.

FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE


Library I felt like I was getting somewhere...I kinda knew what I was after

just trying to get to whatever was at the top while running and gunning these supernatural zombie -like beings


Cortana

Knew exactly what I was trying to find, but the whole level screamed out to be a mystery, or what the flood does to places it inhabits


REPLAY EXPERIENCE

Library

I've basically subsconciously memorized it by playing, still a fun experience to see who you can outrun and who you have to blow up...and making that FINAL RUN to the elevator with everyone just blasting at you...running low on ammo...firing your last rocket and just HAMMERING for the index....always fun

Cortana

Turned from a mystery to a mess. Crazy opposition, no sense of direction....If that had happened in real life for a space marine it would have been hecka scary just goin deeper and deeper into the bowels of the parasite

I didn't like Cortana because of the feel of the level...but I can't blame it, because when you're WAY behind enemy lines that's how it's gonna be babi

Bruteshots detach them from walls, making them transform into the fastflood and run back up again. Makes them easier to run past or kill.

Cortana are suck. The talking, in particular, but also the difficulty. I think it's way over-difficultified compared to the rest of the game. Prefer the Library any day.

I actually enjoy fighting the Flood, because their aggressiveness in charging you brings out the best in your game.

So here are my thoughts on the respective challenges of the two levels.

The Library

• you need to find Healthpacks
• you have to be aware of long-distance strikes in the dark by Rocket Launcher toting Floods
• those Rocket Launcher Floods will "f" you up up-close too
• many Flood have shotguns, and can waste you up w/1 shot
• there is a room, about two thirds of the ways thru the level, where you get locked in. the Flood come out of the vents in the walls, in wave after wave, and you have to kill them all, with no place to hide, and no way to escape the room. on legendary it is one of the most difficult checkpoints of the entire trilogy, and is the most difficult checkpoint in CE (followed closely by the "Into the Belly of the Beast" checkpoint on the T & R level).

Cortana

• very disorienting
• the Flood forms that hang on the walls and ceilings can pin you down from a distance
• a lot of tight quarters fighting, given all the narrow and twisting corridors, which can easily get you cornered and lost
• Flood wearing blue armor are bitches to kill

It's tough for me to say which is harder. On the one hand, I was good enough to beat The Library on Legendary without picking up a single Healthpack. And on the other hand, I was good enough to beat Cortana on Legendary w/9 skulls on, without running through a single checkpoint on the way in. I killed every single Flood, but it was difficult in spots. (Naturally I ran through on the way out 'cause you're supposed to. And btw, that was frakking hard, too.)

I guess I just haven't played The Library recently enough (it's been a few years) to say definitively which level is harder.

I love them both, for the challenges they each present.

I really just hate both levels. But I'd have to say that Library was a lot better than Cortana was.
With Cortana, there seemed to be more flood to kill. Plus I hated when Gravemind or Cortana interupted my fights. It doesn't help also if you're being timed to save some computer that you can't stand.
With Library, it was a bit hard, but better than Cortana. No time-limit, nobody interupting you're fights, and a bit less Flood. And I went through an entire level without Cortana! Yay!
