The path to victory.........
|
I'm doing this cause I set the level on Kessen to level 5. I have taken Ishida and plan to lead my men to victory.
Well the first battle of Sekigahra....
I moved Gamo out in front of Ishida and sent Shima on a flanking attack. Boy do they cover the ground faster. Gamo does his job and intercepts Yi, while Ishida sucks up a cannonade from Tokogawa and engages him.
Yi eats some rifle barrages for some moderate damage. Shima engages Honda and charges through his ranks. Shima then turns engages Honda and routes him. I manage to pursue Honda but not completely wipe him out.
I check to find Gamo being butchered, out of 1000 men he had 238 left. Gamo retreats and Ishida suddenly finds himself outflanked. Shima pulls his army together and comes into Yi's rear.....CHARGE!!!
Yi loses alot of men, breaks and is run down. Yi is broken in the battle. Gamo finally rallies and is sent to guard Ishida's left flank. Shima pulls his army together.
Tokogawa is attacked from the rear by Shima and Ishida (now to my surprise only has 500 men). Shima charges again and Tokogawa is routed and flees. But it doesn't give me a pursue option. Fukushima turns so I send Shima off to do battle with Gamo in support. Ishida throws the last of his barrages at Tokogawa to little effect. Honda rallies and Gamo engaes him.
Honda is broken quickly and flee's from the battle. Tokogawa rallies and I flee Ishida away. Shima engages Fukushima but I don't have ebough zeal to charge (#$%^). I send Gamo to support Ishida.
Tokogawa makes short work of Gamo. Shima defeated Fukushima in a duel, charged and routed him. Tokogawa sends a barrage at Ishida and wipes my general's force out.
Forces wiped out: Yi - run down by Shima. Honda - force destroyed in battle with Gamo. Gamo - force destroyed in battle with Tokogawa. Ishida - force destroyed by barrage from Tokogawa.
Lesson: Numbers play a bigger factor in the battle. Specials don't look to be that nasty. The computer was actually hard to beat.
Well, having lost the skirmish, Ishida relocates his army to Sekigahara where he plans to battle the traitor Tokogawa.

After relocating to Sekigahara Ishida comes up with a cunning plan to crush the Eastern scum.
My plan was to use Ishida as bait, thus luring the Eastern force onto his position. My "loyal" followers Hide Mori, Kikkawa and Koypkabakan (something like that) were deployed in front to act as a "shield".
I deployed the majority of my army behind the centre woods. With the majoirty of Tokogawa's forces attacking Ishida there would only be a few skirimish units to slaughter and then advance on Tokogawa.
Well it all started well with the foolish computer sending stuff at Ishida's position. Only problem everything was sent at Ishida's position. I moved Otanis, Konishi and Ono up in support.
I butchered the computers skirimish line with minimal losses and then started to advance towards Tokogawa.
KOBOYAKAN DEFECTS!!!!!
My whole flank collapses as blue units surge through the gap and engage Ishida. The battle becomes a massive cluster hack. I deter my advance force back except for Ukita, he's got 8000 men with Shimazu in support.
(Should defeat Tokogawa easily)
The battle disintigrated completely against Ishida, but by an amazing grace when all was lost a blue unit (Matsu) died and the tide turned quite quickly and effectively.
The carnage continued. Meanwhile Shimazu objected to me doing anything with him and disappered (their was a cut scene showing him riding through Tokogawa's forces and then he vanished). Ukita was held up and defeated by Kani who had only 2000 men.
I managed to crush the inital Western attack and a huge expense. And as fresh units arrived for the enemy and advanced on my position I retreated. My army was in tatters.
Honourable mention: (My forces) - Hide Mori held up at least four blue units and fought to the last before fleeing to a hill top.
- Shima single handedly slaughtered the most units. He played a big part in my counter attack.
(Enemy Forces)
-Yi who killed at least three of my units before finally falling.
-Honda who held me up for ages and ages and ages.
-Todo for being an elusive, little %$&& who kep running away.
Well that's two losses in a row.
Lessons learnt:
What troop types vs troop types and morale look like to have a major effect on forces.
Example: Kani (2000) vs Ukita (8000)
Kani lost 1000 men and oblierated Ukita's entire force. Kani consisted mainly of Spearman while Ukita had a combination of Rifles and Archers.
Ishida flee's in disgrace with Tokogawa in hot pursuit.
